elisa-test

Avatar n tn Dear Doc (and forum readers), About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though. I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
Avatar m tn i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time. i live in africa, the doctor said that the elisa test i did is excellant and it could detect antibodies even 1 week after last time.
Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar n tn What is the difference in the Oralswab rapid test and unigold rapid finger prick test? Are they both just as accurate and sensitive? Is one better or more reliable than the other? Is it just better to test with ELISA test or is there a difference?
Avatar n tn On 14th June 2008 I had done a HIV Screen test. The result was negetive. On 25th June I had a medical test in Dubai. I passed the medical test. HIV was not detected in my blood. After 8 weeks from the incident I had again HIV Screed Tested. Again teh result came out Negetive. But 9th week from the incident that means on 14th August 2008, I had little cough problem and neck pain. And also found black and brown marks (without any irritation) in arm and back side.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week. Is it possible that I have contacted Hiv? If so, how? I used a condom and it didn't break. I also cannot have Hiv from previus relationships because I tested Hiv negative 9 months ago.
Avatar m tn bt I find in internet tat ELISA was the first test used for detection of HIV....so how cn ELISA is considered as mordern test?
Avatar n tn I will go Jakarta if my villege no 3 generetion test. test shop paper print EIA (assxym). Is the test not the forum call elisa or is one old test long time no use already.
Avatar m tn does anyone know of any lab offering the focus ELISA in toronto? or of a tstd.org lab in buffalo, NY, the only place in america i can affordably reach in a day?
Avatar n tn The duo test IS an ELISA, combined with a test for HIV p24 antigen. If a duo test is positive at 7 weeks, it is because HIV antibody is present. Therefore, an ELISA antibody test will always be positive in that circumstance. If your duo test is positive, there is no point to repeating an ELISA; you have HIV and that's all there is to it. If so, you need to immediately make an appointment with a doctor or clinic for proper medical care.
Avatar n tn Can anyone help and inform me where to get HIV test in UAE. Location and name of the clinic / hospital. Reliable in outcome since I am only an expat here in Abu Dhabi. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I second this. An EIA or ELISA test is tremendously accurate.
Avatar m tn Go get tested at 6 weeks and if you want again at 12 weeks for it to be conclusive but a negative at 6 weeks will probably not change. Also test for all other stds just in case. A test past 3 months is not necessary. Pray for me and I will pray for you man. Thank You. And yes the chance from a woman to a man is very low, but not impossible, never put yourself in that situation again. Take care and good health!
Avatar n tn When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies. Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?
Avatar m tn Depending on the medical facilties available to you, and your location - an EIA, ELISA, or any kind of DUO HIV test can be taken at the 12 week mark to gain a conclusive result.
Avatar m tn I tried moving on but at 11 months I again became paranoid after getting sick and had another elisa and a hiv rna pcr viral load test that again it returned non reactive and undetectable respectively and finally another elisa at 14 months. Is it possible to have hiv with those tests returning negative? My overall health has deteriorated and with this constance sickness and elevated liver enyzmes it really has me thinking that somehow I am infected.
Avatar f tn He also done strip test 3 times which was negative but the elisa test showed the above result I asked him for PCR but he again advised me to do the Elisa. My concern is that coming days I have medical appointment for U.S immigration visa which I have waited for so long. Will this effect on my visa or not...
Avatar m tn Therefore, the official information provided by the manufacturer, and used by many laboratories, is that any ELISA ratio over 1.1 is positive. But experts in STD and infectious disease in general, and herpes in particular, know that only values 3.5 and greater are definitely positive. As far as your own results are concerned, you are smack in the middle of the gray zone. One research study suggests that the HSV-1 result also should be taken into consideration.
Avatar n tn Our product INSTI is a rapid in-vitro qualitative test for the detection of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1/2. However our current license from Health Canada is for only HIV-1 and that is the reason the product inserts you saw at the clinics in Ontario mention only HIV-1. Our application for HIV-2 is pending with Health Canada and we are hopeful that very soon INSTI will be licensed in Canada for HIV-2 also like it is many countries including Europe.
5871250 tn?1377708161 I never had an ELISA but from what I understand, in a mainstream lab as opposed to IgeneX which the Lyme Docs use here in the US, ELISA are not very sensitive but if you are positive for the ELISA ( in my non medical opinion), you have Lyme disease. So they must be double checking in their own way.
