My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !
When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies.Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?
and then undergone certain other test...like ANTI HCV (ELISA) ,ANTI HBcAG IGM and ANTI HBcAG IGM (ELISA)....and all kinds of other blood test EXCEPT HIV test....all the other tests came negative......my Hepatitis got cured...after a month...but after getting cured ...now I have dry cough for almost 2-3 weeks now and lots of chest pain and fatiuge.....CAN ALL THIS BE THE SYMPTOMS OF HIV?....AS I NEVER UNDERGONE ANY HIV ELISA TEST...WAT ARE THE CHANCE OF BEING HIV INFECTED??
I got test of PCR RNA Qualitative and it is negative. But when it Got tested of Elisa for HCV it is positive again and PCR RNA Qualitiative is negative. I tested again after 8 months of completion of my medicine course my Elisa is positive again but PCR RNA qualitatie is negative. Is there is any treatment so that my Elisa should become negative at any time.

i did my ELISA for HCV antibodies abut 7 days later and it was negative but after this my liver enzymes started rising my ALT reached to the level of 160 at the end of third week
at that time (3 weeks after exposure) i went for qualitative pcr for HCV and it was negative and my ELISA was negative too. i went for repeat ELISA and LFTs at the end of month and my Elisa was negative and ALT downs to 52 (control 42)
NOW AT THE END OF SEVENTH WEEK I AGAIN REPEATED MY ELISA AND LFTs.
Anti-HCV test detects the presence of antibodies to the virus, indicating exposure to HCV. This test cannot distinguish between someone with an active or a previous HCV infection. Usually, the test is reported as "positive" or "negative." .....

HCV RNA test, Qualitative may be used to distinguish between a current or past infection.
If you are positive for hep c antibodies on any hep c antibody test the next test you need is the HCV RNA by PCR test to find out if you are infected with hep c and need treatment. If you test positive for the virus on the HCV RNA test that says you are infected. If your result is "not detected" you do not have hep c.
