He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !

Avatar m tn Is it a good indication that I have tested negative at 9 weeks, or I am still at very much risk? Is Anti-HCV Elisa test reliable at all or PCR is the only option for me now?
Avatar m tn i have to mention the second test i did was FDA home approved test kit and i did this before and its pretty relaible. my question are. 1- how much is the chance that i turn positive? 2-should i start a treatment when i diagnosed.i heard the chance of clearing the virus is very high in early stages. 3-how long is the life expectancy with hep c.can i live a full life.? thanks doctor.

Avatar f tn What test did you have? Below is a list of some of the HCV antibody tests. 1.0 is below/less than the sc/o ratio which means you have nothing to worry about. Screening Test Ortho HCV Version 3.0 ELISA Test System Ortho EIA (Enzyme Immunoassay) ≥ 3.8 Abbott HCV EIA 2.0 Abbott EIA (Enzyme Immunoassay) ≥ 3.
Avatar n tn Anti-HCV test detects the presence of antibodies to the virus, indicating exposure to HCV. This test cannot distinguish between someone with an active or a previous HCV infection. Usually, the test is reported as "positive" or "negative." ..... The following tests may be used to diagnose a current infection and to guide and monitor treatment: HCV RNA test, Qualitative may be used to distinguish between a current or past infection.
Avatar m tn It simply means you tested positive for the HCV anti bodies, this doesn't mean you have the Hep C virus. The second test she will do on you is the HCV PCR RNA QUAL,if that one comes out positive then that would confirm you have the virus. The positive results of the first test only indicates you have the anti bodies. This only indicates that you either had a past infection and your immune system cleared it on it's own or you have a current infection.
Avatar n tn 2 was accurate, and I have read some papers written by Professor Morrow, these paper give me some information that the Herpeselect elisa test was perfect, but in my past point, the anti-body test to HSV was only suit to investigate of epidemic disease and unsuitble to clinic diagnose.
Avatar f tn I have been cleared of hepatitis c for two years. When I went in and got a copy of my blood work it says: IU HCV: < 43 not detected LOG HCV: <1.63 not detected and this one HCVcOM: see note Please note: the guidelines for the use of new anti-HCV therapies (boceprevir and telaprevir) recommend using a test method that detects plasma viral nucleic acid levels as low as 10 IU/mL. This assay has a lower limit of detection of 7.1 IU/mL for genotype 1 and conforms to the recommendation.
Avatar m tn many STD's are not carried in the blood and so are not tested there. Those disease we know are blood borne are tested for. Although they don't test for every virus because many are still unknown or there is no test for them. do you need a transfusion??

Avatar m tn i tell u the whole situation ,2 years ago ,my blood report for anti-HCV was positive by ELISA,in blood donation screening report, then i went for RNA -PCR and the report was negative and viral load was zero. and now 3 days ago when i again went for blood donation again my ELIZA for anti-HCV is positive .. i'm worried what to do now? should i again go for RNA-PCR ? or it may b a false positive this time.....
