When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies.Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?

chicken pox rashes has appeared in all parts including gental area on the 15th day i found blood flowing from my anus bleeding during bowel movement it stopped with in 2 days and mild night sweats,nausea,mouth ulcer.On week 4 I got tested in a clinic(they said it is test kit) they confirmed the result is negative and after that next morning I noticed sore throat and few red rashes near my armpit and skin from inner lip (both top and down) started peeling and turned into mouth ulcer .
line at T area. hardly visible. (Home Test). facts is that ACON Rapid test kit is not approved in USA. Heard about it..
2month after Results are Test Value: 0.022 ; Cut off Value: 0.300 ; Test Result: Negative
My few Questions:
1) What result I need to consider as a final result.
2) Why this ACON test kit showed me a very very faint line.
3) Do u have any info regardin this ACON test kit are they approved by FDA etc.
Here is my story 6 months back(in sep 2010) i had sex with a prostitute but unfortunately my condom got ruptured and i got tested 3 months post exposure and now 6 months post exposure and test results are negative(test was performed using 3rd generation elisa kit) and all my symptoms are muscle pains.still i feel these muscle pains especially at the lowe part of my body (both thighs and calf's).

Absolutely there is a need to confirm both of these values. I would suggest the western blot. You can obtain a test kit from the University of Washington and have your health care provider draw and send the blood or my clinic can arrange testing for you if you become a phone patient of ours.
There is about a 40% chance that the HSV 2 could be a false positive.

m 100% clear after my 5 months exposure, as you remember 1 week ago I red the kit wrongly after 3 hours of the test ( it showed a faint line in the T area), but today I did another test it did come as follow:
The C line was: strong colure
The T line was: No colure at all but their was a small colure dot Instead of Strong/faint colure line !!!
The nurse was surprise because she said if there is something it should be as a line but not small dot.
Positive for HSV-2, negative for others ( HIV, HSV1, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea ). The herpes test kit used was HerpeSelect ELISA for HSV-1 and HSV-2. Specifically, the HerpeSelect 1 ELISA result was 0.35 and the HerpeSelect 2 ELISA result was 8.79
I repeated the tests in September 2009. A different provider who also used HerpeSelect ELISA. Same results as the testing in May - postive for HSV-2, negative for all others.
Just did the test for me so quick and he gave me the kit when the C line showed dark red, and he told me it is negative I put the kit in pocket and then I took the test kit to my car, the kit was wet because of the blood and to dry it I put it under the sun in the care ( it is very sunny in my country) after 1 hour I looked at the kit again and it did show a faint line in the T .
