Avatar n tn Either your doctor or Public Health (free) can check you for giardia lamblia. It is done with a feces sample. If you had it while pregnant it should have been treated even though you were pregnant. When gone untreated it's side effects can be permenant and very damaging. I lost all ability to eat food and suffer from severe abdominal pain. If you have this you need treatment immediately! Please take the simple free test as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn It is a parasitic infection of the upper small intestine caused by the organism Giardia lamblia. Often infection causes no symptoms, however it can be responsible for mild to severe diarrhea, abdominal cramping, bulky, greasy, frothy, foul smelling bowel movements and "rotten-egg" burps. Not sure I'm not a health professional. I just Googled Rotten Egg Burps.

1007165 tn?1250505963 I contracted Giardia Lamblia. It took a long time to diagnose what was wrong with me. I'm a North American and I guess we are not expected to get it. By the time the doctor's treated me I was so sick I could only consume liquids. I had a bad reaction to the first two pills and the third pill worked. I'm free of the parasite for a year now but I'm not recovering. I've had a colonoscopy and other tests.
Avatar n tn s are appearing across the board among those infected with Giardia Lamblia in the latest Euro studies? Could it be that a few of us with Type 1 are those that are the rare "Lifelong carriers" of Giardia Lamblia? If so, where might they be hiding? For those of you that might understand something about any of this, the question is not meant to be a joke, believe it or not.
Avatar f tn Parasitic infestations like giardia lamblia, fructose intolerance can also cause sulphur burps. Other causes are celiac disease, Crohn’s disease etc. Diets high in protein, prescription medications and sub acute intestinal obstruction all can cause these symptoms. Your child should be given plenty of water to avoid dehydartion.Avoid processed and fast foods. If the cause of the burps is a bacterial infection, a course of antibiotic treatment may be needed. See a doctor. Keep me posted.
Avatar m tn Get another parasite stool test. Sometimes you need 3 tests to detect parasites. Also, you could get a bacterial pathogens. Campylobacter jejuni, E. Avatar m tn I have been prescribed doxy for 21 days with follow ups every 2 weeks. Also have a high giardia lamblia count and am on a separate antibiotic for that as well. Fair enough, I came home from the doctors, hopped online tonight and saw what "rabbit scratch fever" is, it's rarity, as well how lethal it can be untreated. I don't know how long I've had it and am now late at night severely concerned.

1618577 tn?1388799444 DEMAND they test you for giardia (giardiasis, giardia lamblia, etc.). I had all of these symptoms for 6 months and they told me all the same things. I went through hell. Someone else told me to ask for a giardia test and I did. I almost had to force them to listen to me, but it came back positive, I took a round of flagyl, and never had another problem. I'm still so mad that this idea was never spoken by a doctor.
Avatar m tn PCR DNA test is not a standalone test and its not used for detection of HIV. It has high rate of false positives. And to answer your earlier question " i have big question every one on this forum i saw the diffrent sexual risk and same symptoms and your all oppinion (comment) is NO RISK How come thos syptoms?? " Symptoms do not mean anything when it comes to HIV. Most of the symptoms that people post here could happen because of many different reasons.
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole) after taking blood, urine and stool sample. He said blood and urine test looked normal., the stool test results hasn' t been released yet. Avatar m tn Did you check for autoimmune diseases? or parasites like Giardia Lamblia (it could cause loss of appetite and bad breath), parasites could also cause autoimmune diseases. Check your adrenal glands, my friend had an insanely high blood pressure for many years and couldn't find the reason. Finally they found a benign tumor on his adrenal gland which was the cause.
354667 tn?1299137472 Can your doctor CONFIRM, that you have Giardia? There is a stool test for Giardia, did you have that test? I mean, you have to solve this, before thinking about other diagnoses. I hope you have spoken with a doctor about mebendazole (?). Do not ever try to cure yourself with antibiotics by your own.
1034192 tn?1445509784 Hi, Has she been tested for giardiasis? I have an immune disease and this is something people with my condition tend to have trouble with. It's an infection caused by the giardia lamblia parasite that causes vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, gas, and stomach cramps. Most infections only last 2-4 weeks BUT according to MedicineNet website: "In many patients who are not treated, however, infection can last for several months to years with continuing symptoms.
Avatar f tn These symptoms come and go. I went to the Gastroenterologist, she did stool test, blood test and all were normal. I also have history of abnormal paps (ASCUS), HPV negative and colposcopy results were normal. Also, I had two UTIs in the last 2 months. On the first time, I went to the doctor, did an quick exam, which showed an infection and I took Bactrim for 5 days.
Avatar m tn I went back to my GI doctor and he scheduled me for an upper endoscopy and another giardia antigen stool test. The stool test came back negative. However during the upper endo, my doctor took a biopsy of my stomach and duodenum. He also saw a lot of inflammation of the duodenum. The biopsy of the tissue from my duodenum did show giardia under the microscope. I found this out today (01/05/09).
Avatar f tn Hi All. I have been diagnosed with suspected Giardia (awaiting stool test results). I have been on Metronidazole for three days with minimal improvement. The D has stopped but still very nauseous and terrible burning/heartburn. Should I be feeling more of an improvement by now? Or could this be a side effect from the antibiotic? Also heartburn/burning in the stomach a symptom of Giardia? TIA.
Avatar m tn I'd go ahead and do the fecal test if it were me. *I* had giardia along with my husband and at the time 1 year old son. Nightmare. Imagine changing diapers for my son with a parasite! We got it at a farm party along with about 70 other people who all also ate that dang fruit salad washed in tainted water. My husband and son had the fecal testing done. I didn't. I also did not take medicine for it and my husband and son did.
Avatar f tn Stool can be loose and cause the dog to continue to strain after elimination or it can be mixed with large amounts of mucus and/or blood. The test for this condition must look for the toxin, NOT just the bacteria. The test for the toxin requires a larger sample than is needed for a routine stool check, is expensive to have done and is often sent out to a speciality lab BUT if it is positive you have the advantage of knowing what you are treating.
