Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test generations

elisa-test

Avatar m tn cmia reported to be positive in that report ELISA is negative. Respectively on 8 March, 30 March and 3 may go on a test center for HIV, the test is ELISA HIV1 2 (Ag AB), report the result is negative. I would like to ask the doctor I can exclude the?? and test center staff told me that CMIA inspection accuracy than ELISA high.
Avatar n tn i live in the us and had an elisa antibody test at 7 weeks 9 weeks and 13 weeks which all tested negative. i still get leary on the whole 6 month test. is the elisa here accurate This discussion is related to A different question.
461010 tn?1208482459 The manufater (Inverness medical) doesnt say what generation its, but after reading how the test works, it works like a 2nd generation test. an the rapid test are as good as any elisa for negative result.
Avatar f tn No matte what generation for test method , elisa generation 2 ? 3 or 4 ? Someone said 3 month is conclusive but some said 6 month & 12 month . Which is the correct timetable for conclusive test result ? Last test was 177 days by elisa negative but don't know what generation , was this result conclusive ?
Avatar f tn hey there what is the standard ELISA ? test and does it has generations ?. I went to a hospital and did ELISA for HIV 1&2 after 94 days of sex relation and came non-reactive or negative .
Avatar n tn so you think that a ELISA HIV TEST Third generation at 4 week is quite good indicator?
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm not Teak but as far as i know they use Elisa test, as for generations, no body uses this terms anymore. they probably have the latest technology for HIV testing. Your test at 9 weeks is very reassuring and highly no likely to change.
Avatar m tn Testing in the US is generally more expensive. Standard HIV ELISA test is around 50 a DUO test is around 164 dollars.
Avatar f tn has given me peace of mind, I do not know, whether it is a test generation 4 or 3 generations, the doctor just told me that I was in the ELISA test using test kits Vidas and biomerieux...
Avatar m tn There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
Avatar m tn I just want to know if the window periods you mention here for ELISA tests (older generations) apply worldwide. I just want to know cause I live in mexico and my doctor adviced me to test at 6 MONTHS. I asked him why no testing at three, and he said the guidelines said ony a 6 month test was conclusive. My inquiry is, Was my doctor right?? are tests used in Mexico (or anywhere outside the US) older and therefore less accurate than the average 2nd or 3rd generation ELISA tests used in the US??
Avatar n tn You were protected until the condom broke. The chances of HIV infection from an unprotected vaginal exposure are lower for the male partner, but you need to test at 3 months for a conclusive test result. Majority of recently HIV infected people don't show any symptoms at all at the primary stages of infection. When symptoms do show up, they appear at 2-3 weeks post exposure, and last for 1-2 weeks. Symptoms include fever, headaches, swollen lymph nodes and rash.
Avatar f tn I understand that an ELISA test looks for antibodies. I am from the United States. Does the GENERATION of test matter as to sensitivity? I know a lot of sites say 6 weeks may be accurate, but would that be with a earlier generation test, or are they talking about newer generations? (Although I do realize that 12 weeks is conclusive no matter what). For example, is a generation 3 test a combo ag/ab test? Or are there generation 3 tests that strictly look for antibodies?
Avatar m tn according to the dr hhh/hook - the current rapid tests (fda approved as im speaking of the US only - but probably applies to all industrialized nations) have the same sensitivity as the EIA/ELISA (3rd generations). At 6-8 weeks it makes no difference according to these experts. The number you cite is the average number of days to seroconversion according to the CDC (some give a range 14-22 days, others say 23 is average and some 25).
Avatar m tn I am in the same boat as you are,for the forum 3 months testing is mandate for conclusiveness irrespective of the generations of tests but some sites also claim to test till six months for an absolute clearance..I have taken so far 8 ECLIAs,2 ELISA rapids,1 DUO test and 1 TRIDOT test till 24 weeks but still not out of the paranoia..I know its tough to wait till so called WINDOW but thats how it goes..Our prayers are with you my dear friend..
Avatar m tn The Duo is a 4th generation test, regardless of what country you are in. In any case, the difference between early test "generations" and later ones is in whether or not they are positive by 2-3 weeks. All antibody test generations 2-4 are reliably positive within 6-8 weeks. You don't have HIV.
Avatar m tn hi I want to ask if it is par pripdadu who will not produce antibodies (extremely low risk and still existing) and will go on to test combo, duo, ELISA, etc. 4 generations where the P24 test / antibody. Antibodies are not detectable but P24 is found? I know that these cases are related to poor immune system, a low number of white blood cells, etc. provided during P24 but will remain in the body until they bind to the antibody thus until antibodies in circulation. Is this assertion correct?
Avatar f tn If you ask the lab where you did your test if their antibody test is of the 4th generation, then your test is conclusive according to most experts (CDC says that it is conclusive at 6 weeks or 42 days). Even if the test is 3rd generation, I still believe that getting negative results on both those tests is excellent news and you should not have to worry anymore. I would maybe retest at 6 weeks to be absolutely sure, but only if the test is 3rd generation.
Avatar m tn when you mention the 3 month period for conclusive test result, does it refer to 4th generation test or does the same timeline applies for all the other test generations???
Avatar m tn I decided to get tested for HIV so I got tested twice with Questdiagnostics(HIV-1/HIV-2 EIA with reflex) and Labcorp(HIV 1/O/2 Abs, Qual) both results were non reactive or negative. However my concern is about the test generations . Are this labs using first , second or third generations? Will the window period of three months post exposure apply to the first generations tests or would it be longer? I called both labs and they couldn’t tell me they said a doctor would need to call.
Avatar m tn In the test result, it says the following: Interpretation for methid HIV 1/2 (CLIA) No Sign of HIV 1/2 Infection with IgG/AgM Elisa What is this test? Teak do u know it? Also, it mentions in the units : qualitative. What do they mean by qualitative?
Avatar n tn After a high risk exposure I had a primary herpes outbreak. Apparently I had it in my system and had been dormant. Along with my herpes outbreak I also experienced a month or two of numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Followed by joint discomfort. Wrists, ankles and even toes. Now this week I'm feeling discomfort in both armpits. I am 5 1/2 months out, still have urge to **** and been getting hemorroids. I was tested for HIV 1&2 neg at 98 days with ELISA test and at 137 days.
