) He also eventually ordered a lumbar puncture to test for MS. The results showed 4 CSF oligoclonal Bands unique to the CSF. He said he did not think I had MS because the 2 clinical tests were negative for MS. In addiition the Myelin Basic Protein was .45 and the IgG Index was .44. He thought the bands might be from the WNV.
About 3 weeks after the eye problem started I became extremely ill. I was diagnosed with sinutits.
I was on anti-biotics for the sinus infection for a couple weeks and have been on Cellebrex for over a month. The Cellebrex helps control the swelling of my eye for the most part, but my vision is still blurry.
The optic neurologist does not think I have MS. He thinks maybe the 0-bands could be related to having West Nile Virus in the past. My labs showed that I had had West Nile Virus (WNV IgG 2.44/ WNV IgM 0.06). I am concerned about the O-bands and what the CSF results mean.
I have posted a time or two on this forum trying to find answers to my non specific dizziness for the past 22 mos. I had a spinal tap on Monday and received a positive West Nile Virus (WNV) IGG result on Wed evening after my Neuro called. As I have mentioned before, I was hospitalized in 2003 with an "unknown virus" for 5 nights with a trunkal rash, high fever, headaches and vomiting. I now have confirmation that that episode was WNV.
I have been experiencing strange unexplained symptoms since the birth of my 2nd child in May of 2008. I was just recently diagnosed in March 2010 with WNV, but was acute in 2003. The Dr's just missed my diagnosis while I was hospitalized in August of 2003. I had a high fever, vomiting, rash, headaches, etc etc. I was released after 5 nights and was able to get back to almost normal fairly quickly. I had some twitches, but other than that and the anxiety over the new twitching I was fine.
Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
i already pass the 3 month period to get tested for HIV
my question is , "HIV AG\AB test" after the three months it will be searching for the AB as well as it search for the AG if it found it,
so what is the method used to search for the AB in the (HIV AG\AB) test , 2- is is better than the method in Elisa AB test after 3 months , 3- if i did h="hiv AG\AB" test after three months " is it conclusive as if i did HIV Elisa AB test"

No matte what generation for test method , elisa generation 2 ? 3 or 4 ? Someone said 3 month is conclusive but some said 6 month & 12 month . Which is the correct timetable for conclusive test result ? Last test was 177 days by elisa negative but don't know what generation , was this result conclusive ?
A negative Western blot test means the ELISA test was a false positive test. The Western blot test can also be unclear, in which case more testing is done.
Negative tests do not rule out HIV infection. There is a period of time (called the "window period") between HIV infection and the appearance of anti-HIV antibodies that can be measured. This period is 3 months from exposure. However, negative WB at 45 days is certainly very encouraging.
My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !

About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.
I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
1 percent of the population is a low incidence of hiv, every elisa test is good at 3 months, that you have been told already, with each generation of test they get to detect a little bit earlier, elisa has been used to detect many viruses other than hiv, its an extremely reliable way to test for a virus, to culture for the virus takes to long. i doubt if they still use first generation test unless its home access test, also rapid test like oraquick are equilivant to 2 nd gen testing.
my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Hi i Just wanted to know how accurate is ELISA third generation tests is,
my last sex was at 04/11/2010 i did the first test on 22/1/2011 the result wasELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.15) i started to get worried of the number so i did a second test on 15/2/2011 just to make sure that i completed 3 monthes and the rsult came ELISA : HIV1&HIV2 NEGATIVE (0.33) i freeked out why that number is keeping rising !!
