Avatar m tn No, the meds nor the TB will not affect HIV results. Your last test proves you did not get HIV from your encounter.
Avatar f tn Is it common for a chest ray to be the main source of diagnosis for tuberculosis. In 2006 my husband was treated for tb because of this x ray only. Skin and Sputum test were negative. What is usually the reason for this. He tested negative for hiv, and I know that can be a reason some times. Other than the tuberculosis he had treatment and he fine.
Avatar f tn ve beewn coughing for more than 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn Tuberculosis (through sensitive ELISA test), cancers of lung, esophagus, lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, cystic fibrosis, and histoplasmosis. A PET scan may be diagnostic. If this does not yield results then yes, a lymph node biopsy may be required (however, before that it is important to rule out tuberculosis). Rheumatoid arthritis too can cause swollen lymph nodes and fever. Hence, may be she is having a flare of rheumatoid arthritis. This needs to be ruled out.
Avatar m tn I was in South Africa in September 2011 and had protected sex with 4 CSWs. I got myself tested after the 3 month mark and the result was negative (Elisa test for HIV 1 +2) Rest of the points have already been shared with you in chronological order in my previous post. I would request you take a look at them again in conjunction with the new info I provided and provide me your valuable comments on the following points 1) Does this change anything as far my status goes?
Avatar m tn 50, TB clinic have appointment for 28 Nov, for may be skin test,,before this I will do Xray in order to expedite screening. I can say that in Canada health system is like magic- doctors spreading files //tests allover the city and doing like zero clue. As far as severe growth hormone deficiency, Endo doctor must start replacement therapy, for best reason for her ,I dont know why she will hesitate for this.
Avatar m tn A sputum test done 3x is the standard test for tuberculosis. A prophylactic TB medication may be recommended since dry cough, fever at night, and weight loss are main symptoms of this disease. However, exposure and positive findings on the chest xray, sputum tests must be present. Take care and keep us posted.
1807132 tn?1318743597 While in the hospital they ran a skin test and a first sputum test that came back negative for TB. They sent her home diagnosed as viral pneumonia but then called and said the 2nd sputum test was positive. They are awaiting a 3rd sputum test to definitively diagnose it as TB. She is in her 80s and I have read that the skin test for older folks can come back negative but was a bit surprised the first sputum test was negative so it makes me question if she does indeed have it but.
Avatar f tn Today I was out with a friend. After that she told me that her family member is in hospital as he has tuberculosis. But I don't know what kind of tb it is. I am quite paranoid about this as afraid they as the family members stay together but they didn't test also. Is there any risk involved? She did cough once when I was standing in front of her.
Avatar n tn thank you for the information,it's such a relief.....hope the lab test that they will do to him now will be a negative result also.....again tnx sir........
Avatar n tn What this is saying is that, first, you do not have tuberculosis, but since on the skin test you tested positive, that means you have been exposed to it at some point between now and your last test. It also means that each skin test in the future will show up as positive, as you have been exposed and thus your body will remember that, which means that you will always need to get a chest xray to confirm that you are negative.
Avatar m tn About more than 13 years ,spine doctor started Tuberculosis treatment after seeing spine-lower part, but I did not started treatment, does this is normal that during this period TB has been settled or spread to other organs. 5-6 month back CT shows lung nodule size 5mm, catching infections frequently. 1350500 tn?1277518068 The Tuberculin Test or Mantoux Test is used to detect latent infection in a person who may have been exposed to a person diagnosed with tuberculosis. It is indicated for persons from high TB risk groups, migrants from countries where tuberculosis is common, occupationally at risk persons such as health care professionals. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn 1) why is the PCR test after 6 weeks not as reliable as ELISA? Is the PCR negative result after 6 weeks conclusive enough? 2) It has been said that the amount of virus will reach a peak at about 22 days after infection, and start to decrease then keep stable for a long period, why is this happening? If it is due to the antibody, then what will happen for those people who is not able to generate antibody(extremely rare)? Will they skip the incubation period and turn to AIDS very soon?
Avatar m tn Hi everybody there, i have been diagonised with intrathoracic lymph nodes tuberculosis with no symptoms. The lypmhadenopathy was seen after flourography in 2009 i ran all tests for tuberculosis and were negative again this year the lymphadenopathy was still there, and the following tests came positive for tuberculosis : mantoux test & lung biopsy through bronchoscopy urine, blood & sputum came clean, still upto now no symptoms but i have started TB's treatment almost a month now.
Avatar f tn No. Tuberculosis, MTB or TB (short for tubercle bacillus) is a common and in some cases deadly infectious disease caused by various strains of mycobacteria, usually Mycobacterium tuberculosis in humans.[1] Tuberculosis usually attacks the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body. It is spread through the air when people who have an active MTB infection cough, sneeze, or otherwise transmit their saliva through the air.
Avatar f tn This past week he is begining to cough more. We took him to the Dr. for an allergy test. He has no environmental allergies. She listened to his lungs and heard a slight wheeze on his exhalation. SHe prescribed him with QVAR and Flonase and wants to see him back in 6 weeks. So my question, could he have caught TB from this guy that spit on him? Or am I over reacting? Thanks!

Avatar m tn i have done a test last week for Tuberculosis it shows positive and re do the same test at the same hospital after 5 days it says negative but still i have this this dry cough and fever i have no found any other sines of Tuberculosis from me ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn i already pass the 3 month period to get tested for HIV my question is , "HIV AG\AB test" after the three months it will be searching for the AB as well as it search for the AG if it found it, so what is the method used to search for the AB in the (HIV AG\AB) test , 2- is is better than the method in Elisa AB test after 3 months , 3- if i did h="hiv AG\AB" test after three months " is it conclusive as if i did HIV Elisa AB test" thanks in advance
