Avatar n tn I'm in the carribbean! I got tested @ a lab using the calbiotech hsv elisa and got 1.1 borderline positive hsv 2 IgG result. Then I went to another lab which used the euroimmun hsv 2 elisa IgG and I tested negative for hsv 2 with 2.66Ru/ml I've heard persons talk about the euroimmun test in this forum but never heard anyone talk about the calbiotech hsv 2 elisa. I just want to know if I can trust the euroimmun test as accurate!
Avatar n tn HSV Elisa Antibody tests are how much accurate for detecting hsv virus after 18 months of last exposure
Avatar f tn The ELISA test for HSV 2 picks up about 97% of cases. The ELISA test for HSV 1 picks up about 91% of cases. Those are the facts as the package insert states them to be. My feeling about this is that if you are still worrying and you just can't put it aside, then a western blot may have you to put this behind you. I believe it is only done in the US at the University of Washington, for public use. I'm not sure what the downside of testing would be except cost and inconvenience.
Avatar n tn 3.52, 2.01 and 4.29. Western Blot showed me negative on two tests and indeterminate with low level antibody indeterminate for HSV on another. The doctor had me tested using another Elisa test, not Herpes Select but one from ARUP. The results were negative as follows: The full name of the test given is: Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1/2 IgG & IgM AntiBODY w/ reflex to Type. 1- HSV Type 1/2 Combined Ab, IgG by ELISA ARUP 50286. Result 0.26 negative (Ref range <=0.
Avatar m tn I do not know why you originally decided to test for HSV but your results are an example of the reason we do not routinely recommend HSV antibody testing unless there is a good reason for suspicion such as a partner with genital herpes or having had recurring genital lesions. The tests are not good enough for general testing. The "gold standard" for HSV antibody testing is the Western Blot assay performed at the University of Washington.
Avatar f tn ve seen the results paper stating IGg test both neg for hsv 1 and hsv 2. However i was only concerned As i believed the nurses would be more familiar with index value queries etc. nurse terri warren did quote to me that the elisa is the most accurrate test over the immunoblot - that is what is driving my worry. As doesnt a numerical index value test such as the elisa provide that extra certainty?
Avatar m tn The manufacturer of the most commonly used HSV antibody test in the US (HerpeSelect brand, produced by Focus Technologies) submitted data to the us Food and Drug Administration that showed that results with ELISA ratio values over 1.1 were positive for HSV-2. Later research showed that values between 1.1 and 3.5 often are false positive; the lower the value, the more likely the result is false, even though technically positive.
Avatar m tn i had the same results as you with the same exact score for hsv-2 1.17..with hsv-1 negative...retested for hsv-2 and the next test was negative...anything under 3.5 should be retested ....
Avatar m tn a) Antibody to HSV - IgG (ELISA) Observed values Negative (/=16to22Ru/ml Positive ) b) Antibody to HSV IgM (Elisa) Observed Values 4.41 RU/ml -> Negative (/=16to22Ru/ml Positive ) The Doctor told me the results were just fine and I needn't worry. And that there was no need to get tested again. Today I noticed these small white spots around the rim of my penis. Also, I feel a mild pain in the groin area. Does this look like Herpes?
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor in February for a routine check up and asked for a STD screening as I do every year. I tested negative for HSV 1 and positive for HSV 2. I tested negative a year prior, but I've had three partners since then. One person tested negative, one chose not to get tested, and the third was not given a type-specific test and tested positive. This person does not know if this is due to type 1 or type 2. I have no symptoms, and neither does anyone else.
Avatar n tn I have read some other papers about the HSV IgG test, one author think the IgG test was useless to clinic diagonse, his result showed the OD of the IgG(not IgM) might rise at first episode, but the recurrent patinent's OD was similar to the normal people, this paper was written by Doerr HW in 1987.
Avatar m tn WB blot is the golden standard of HSV1 from what I have heard as being 99% accurate but not much of a difference from elisa and Imminublot for hsv2. I would retest for hsv2 with ELISA and WB for Hsv1 and if those results are positive I think that would be conclusive, Neither of your tests are even in the false positive range they are almost certain positives but a confimation wouldnt hurt and in my opinion is necessary in the absence of symptoms.
Avatar n tn could a full 12 ounce glass of wine (10% alcohol) the night before the test cause false negatives. That is, could the alcohol reduce the antibody count? As I had not expected a blood test I didn't consciously decide not to have a drink and I just don't recall whether I did or not. The results of the test were as follows: The full name of the test given is: Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1/2 IgG & IgM AntiBODY w/ reflex to Type. 1- HSV Type 1/2 Combined Ab, IgG by ELISA ARUP 50286.
Avatar m tn I had a HERPES ELISA HSV Blood test (non-specific type). It is an IGG test. It came back negative. Is an IGG ELisa test still reliable even though non-specific type? I am worried my 2 negatives mean nothing now?
Avatar n tn About a week and a half ago, I received test results from my doctor indicating that I tested positive for HSV 2. My igg count was 2.22 and the test used was Herpeselect. I then went to two labs over the course of a week and was tested again. Both labs used LabCorp, which utilized the Captia ELISA test. Both test results for HSV 2 came back negative (<.91). (as a side note, both the Captia ELISA and Herpeselect showed a negative result for HSV 1).
Avatar m tn The western blot is more sensitive for HSV 1, by quite a bit, than the ELISA, so that is not a surprise. You HSV 1 antibody is making your HSV 2 test look artificially positive, there is some cross reaction going on there. We don't know much more about what causes false positives. It looks like you've been vaccinated in the past for hepatitis B, but the immunity is no longer present in the test.
Avatar n tn 5 weeks to hear back from my Western blot test, which just came in the other day. This test showed I was negative for both HSV-1 and HSV-2. The guy on the results hotline read my chart verbatim and it said that I was negative for both (and that I had never been exposed to either viruses, whatever else that may add). He also said that even though this test is not FDA-approved, it is considered the gold standard for herpes testing.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response, i have given HSV-1&2 (Herpes Simplex Virus-1&2) IgG and IgM antibody test today , will that be conclusive? or i need to retest later?
Avatar f tn I received a HSV tiger test for HSV 1 and 2. My results were negative for HSV 2 at igG level 0.8. My igG level for HSV 1 was 1.1 and I was told this was high positive. Is the negative result  cut off line for HSV -1 a IgG level of 1.0 or 1.1? I asked the DR. What test they ran and whether it was a herpeselect, and whether there was an ELISA ratio listed. He said the ratio was listed as IgG and didn't see ELISA listed on the report.
