Avatar n tn 3.52, 2.01 and 4.29. Western Blot showed me negative on two tests and indeterminate with low level antibody indeterminate for HSV on another. The doctor had me tested using another Elisa test, not Herpes Select but one from ARUP. The results were negative as follows: The full name of the test given is: Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1/2 IgG & IgM AntiBODY w/ reflex to Type. 1- HSV Type 1/2 Combined Ab, IgG by ELISA ARUP 50286. Result 0.26 negative (Ref range <=0.
Avatar n tn I am really confused about what kind of test to ask my doctor for to find out if I have either herpes simplex virus. On this forum I read that the ELISA test is not accurate. I have never shown and symptoms of either hsv1 or hsv2, but I am now dating someone who is hsv2 positive. I want to get tested before we start a sexual relationship but my doctor told me that without symptoms that the test would not be accurate? Is there a specific test brand I should be asking for?
Avatar n tn id=514 I read here that that test is only used for research and not for diagnostic procedures. Can u give it a read please?? I got a borderline positive result of 1.1 for HSV 2 IgG but tested negative @ 2.66 RU/ml on the Euroimmun hsv2 elisa IgG test & I don't know which result to believe!
Avatar n tn I am Chinese, and almost all Doc in our country think the antibody test for Herpes diagnosis was inaccurate, the blood test is only suit to the investigate of epidemic disease, in fact when you talk about the blood test with Chinese Doc. they are not interest in it, they were more believe the symptom which they watch.
Avatar f tn The ELISA test for HSV 2 picks up about 97% of cases. The ELISA test for HSV 1 picks up about 91% of cases. Those are the facts as the package insert states them to be. My feeling about this is that if you are still worrying and you just can't put it aside, then a western blot may have you to put this behind you. I believe it is only done in the US at the University of Washington, for public use. I'm not sure what the downside of testing would be except cost and inconvenience.
Avatar f tn Hello Dr, I had HSV genital symptoms a few years back and only recently had the guts to go and get a blood test and this has come back negitive. The symptoms were raised lymph nodes in groin, fever, small cut like sores, aches and pains, nsu, all herpes types symptoms. I did go and get examined at the time however i think it may have been too late and the symptoms had gone away, think it was around a week after experiencing symptoms.
Avatar m tn I got results back today after waiting for a long time. My results for this test, which was a western blot with a recursive post test (dunno what that means but it sounds to me like "double-checking") indicated that I had a 1.56 result. Now I am looking for advice on how to proceed. Three times I've entered into the low positive area. Thanks for any help you can give.
Avatar m tn Herpes Elisa antibodies test IgG type specific 11/14/2012 - result: 1.89 (labcorp) ^same test (same location, labcorp) 11/20/2012 - result: 1.65 HSV2 IGG INHIBITION,ELISA (quest labs) 01/2013 - result: The HSV-2 IgG screening assay was repeated at Focus Diagnostics, and the result was not positive (i.e., the index was <1.10); thus, the inhibition study result could not be determined.
Avatar f tn Hi normally they dont test for herpes unless you request. Not sure what the 7.3 represents, did they say this was a herpes igG value score?
Avatar n tn I waited until 13 1/2 weeks after the encounter to get tested (Herpes Select ELISA) and my test results came back negative (for HSV1/2 and everything else). I still have symptoms such as muscle numbness in my left thigh, herpes-like blisters on my buttocks and marks on my penis that might be lesions (not bleeding or weeping, but not "perfect" skin either).
Avatar f tn not too surprising you are also hsv1+, most adults are whether they get obvious cold sores or not to know it. the pcr test actually looks for herpes dna. since herpes isn't a blood borne virus, getting a pcr blood test is useless in most situations. we typically use it on obvious lesions to look for herpes. if your partner is hsv1 negative, you can perform protected oral sex on him if you both prefer that.
Avatar m tn WB blot is the golden standard of HSV1 from what I have heard as being 99% accurate but not much of a difference from elisa and Imminublot for hsv2. I would retest for hsv2 with ELISA and WB for Hsv1 and if those results are positive I think that would be conclusive, Neither of your tests are even in the false positive range they are almost certain positives but a confimation wouldnt hurt and in my opinion is necessary in the absence of symptoms.
Avatar m tn i had hsv blood test by elisa the resultas was : IgM 0.2 IgG herpes type 1 is: 2.6 IgG herpes type 2 is :0.
Avatar m tn Hi and yes the test is accurate and 6 months is a great time to test post exposure but if you not convineced have the western blot done to put and end to your worry. that it!
Avatar m tn Is this elisa test worth paying this much for? they tell me its type specific but is it accurate..anyone know?
Avatar m tn I always got a strep test and a mono test whenever the symptoms came up, which always also included a genital sore. I guess what I was asking is what could mimic the sores if it is not herpes?
Avatar f tn Although compared to the last month ELISA test, the values for HSV1 were a little bit higher this time (5.6 vs. 4.4 of a lower than 9 scale for negative). I called both labs and told them the contradictory results. On the lab with positive results they retook the test. On the lab of my negative results the Dr.
Avatar m tn I had a HERPES ELISA HSV Blood test (non-specific type). It is an IGG test. It came back negative. Is an IGG ELisa test still reliable even though non-specific type? I am worried my 2 negatives mean nothing now?
Avatar m tn no just doctor see the white small skin dots and given me valcivir tablets... the herpes is clear now... but i have small pimples like bumps are coming on my back and body.... i had 4th generation Elisa test on 18 days and it came negative... just wanted to know that 18 day 4th generation Elisa test how conclusive? secondly i don't have fever, big red rashes, diarrhea... just getting a lot anxiety and being confused...
Avatar m tn Positive for HSV-2, negative for others ( HIV, HSV1, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea ). The herpes test kit used was HerpeSelect ELISA for HSV-1 and HSV-2. Specifically, the HerpeSelect 1 ELISA result was 0.35 and the HerpeSelect 2 ELISA result was 8.79 I repeated the tests in September 2009. A different provider who also used HerpeSelect ELISA. Same results as the testing in May - postive for HSV-2, negative for all others.
