Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test for antigens

Avatar n tn so wat u r saying is either way for the DUO test it will test for p24 antigen and antibodies if they were any CORRECT?
Avatar m tn people keep mentioning the tests as though there is one ELISA test for HIV1 and another ELISA test for HIV2. This is not the case, a single ELISA test is looking for antibodies produced for HIV1 and HIV2. In the UK specifically I now know that whether a third or fourth generation test is used they are both testing for HIV1 and HIV2 antibodies (in the fourth generation the anitgen part is only detecting HIV1 I believe).
Avatar m tn it is unlikely your negative result after 6 weeks will be positive after that , but the doctors say that for the conclusive result you should wait 3 month and get a ELISA hiv test . 2-yes , it would , but not always 3-It depends many items (how did somebody infected and how quantity of virus Enter in the body and etc ) 4- more likely it detectable after 6 weeks (more than 95%) , and after 8 weeks the chance of detecting is 97% and at the end of 12th week its 99.
Avatar m tn In the test result, it says the following: Interpretation for methid HIV 1/2 (CLIA) No Sign of HIV 1/2 Infection with IgG/AgM Elisa What is this test? Teak do u know it? Also, it mentions in the units : qualitative. What do they mean by qualitative?
Avatar m tn A friend of mine took a random HIV test, the ELISA blood test at a diagnostic lab and the result came out positive. Completely aghast, my friend took a retest at the same lab and went to two other hospitals to get tested. One of the two hospitals conducted the ELISA on two separate kits, both these kits reported negative results. The other hospital too reported a negative result.
Avatar n tn OK, Teak. Thanks again!
Avatar m tn 4th generation tests, test both for antibody and antigens at the same time.
Avatar n tn Floydian I will answer just becouse its a good question, but you really need to stop searching the web or you will never move on Our body produces antibodies for antigens (something not natural in our body), Elisa 1rst and 2nd generation test looked for the antibodies produces for this antigens but just for one kind of them they look for the immunoglobulin M (IgM) 3rd and 4th generation tests look for two of them they look for the immunoglobulin M and G (IgM) the immunoglobulin M is not produce
Avatar n tn Just had a test yesterday and was wondering if the ELISA (UK gum clinics) check for the p24. I did not ask them.
Avatar n tn ok thanks could u answer the other question pls
Avatar f tn The DUO test is an HIV test that looks for antibodies for HIV and also looks for evidence of the p24 protein. It mostly used for early detection, after 4.5 months you need an Elisa test.
Avatar m tn if one is just beginning seroconversion and gets a weakly reactive ELISA result, the associated WB confirmation test may indeed not end up revealing any bands at that point in time (thus, a negative result). This is very unsettling for me to hear because I was under the impression that the WB is never wrong. How can the ELISA (in this case for me, the Orqk Rapid Test) show something that the WB cannot? Is this correct and indeed possible? If so, what are the odds of this happening?
Avatar f tn 4th generation test looks for Antigens and Antibodies of HIV. Simple as that.
Avatar m tn There are two types of HIV. HIV type I and HIV type 2. No those tests are not p24 tests. Rapid tests, test for antibodies not antigens. Yes it's a modern test.
Avatar m tn Further research says the Elisa is looking for 1 peptide that is carrying ant-bodies for HSV2 if you should have it but the western blot is looking at 14 peptides for HSV infection. So my question is does anybody know how many of the 14 peptides in the western blot test could actually help pick up infection ? Is it all 14 or is it just the same peptide as the Elisa or something in between ? Trying to understand the test and justify spending the money for clarification.
Avatar m tn Enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) or enzyme immunoassay (EIA): The ELISA (also referred to as EIA) detects antibodies against recombinant HCV antigens. "First generation" ELISAs used a single antigen; later tests added additional antigens.146-148 Second and third-generation tests are both in standard use.
Avatar f tn Doctors offer WB and ELISA at the same time in some countries where the patient pays for all his tests. In Canada they dont offer the WB test as patient is not paying for it, and the health ministry does the WB only when ELISA is positive.
Avatar m tn My question, now that we are 7.5 afterwards, what HIV test should I take? 3rd, 4th ELISA? Also, another question for everyone, I have a lot of pain under my jaw and in my throat. I also have white tongue, maybe hair lukoplekia, but I am not sure. I also have diarrhea for years. Thanks everyone.
