Avatar m tn After about 6 - 7 weeks i got tested again with the ELISA DUO test and got a false positive, positive on the first negative on the confirmatory. What are my chances of having the Virus?, im getting tested in 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn Negative on the ELISA--false positive with the rapid test. I have learned a lesson from this one.
Avatar n tn I donated for blood, result was positive, then Western blood test showed negative. Then same day i been to private clinck then ELISA showed positive again. But western blood test showed negative again. The dector told me do not test again and do donate he said my antibodies like that. Any way, then after 5 months i did not beleive him i testd again ELISA again it was negative. Now i am negative with now reason to beleive i am opposite as i am a straight man. i will get married soon.
Avatar n tn I never thought that this can happen to get False-Positive, but it did to me. I will test again after 6 weeks for my conclusive.
Avatar n tn You are not positive for HIV until they come back with the result of the western blot. Did you have unprotected vaginal or anal sex? When was the last time?
Avatar m tn I had my ELISA test a week ago and it turned out to be positive. I am so shocked when I knew it and yet I couldnt help anything about it. I am so down but I can still manage myself to do my ADL's (Activites of Daily Living). I submitted myself for a Western Blot and PCR and the result will be availble in a week or two. How high is the probability that I can have a postive on the latter tests? I need help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week. Is it possible that I have contacted Hiv? If so, how? I used a condom and it didn't break. I also cannot have Hiv from previus relationships because I tested Hiv negative 9 months ago.
Avatar f tn You have a very low score which can mean you are having a false positive. Do what your doctor recommends. The pcr test, better known as the viral load test, looks for actual virus, not just the antibodies. You may have been exposed and you may have cleared the virus without treatment; you may have a false positive, or you be infected. Don't worry ahead of time and actually with the new treatments, there is a cure for almost everyone. My best to you.
Avatar n tn Am I correct in assuming that a false positive ELISA is far more common than a false negative ELISA/rapid test? (i.e., why trust a negative test when a positive test proved false in my case?) Also, as my false positive situation seems to be transient, am I likely to have a repeat "transient" experience or do those generally seem to be one-time anamolies? Or is this something we do not know? Thanks again!
Avatar m tn 1. My current test results, positive ELISA/EIA, negative WB, negative DNA PCR does NOT rule out the possibility of HIV infection. Other strains of HIV-1 and HIV-2 are a possibility (although rare). The sensitivity of the DNA PCR is NOT 100% (it's around 95-98% from what I've seen online). 2. I should at least humor the current 'Gold Standard' and retake the anti-body test at the 3 month mark (12/28/2012 marks the 3 month mark from my last unprotected vaginal intercourse). 3.
Avatar f tn Is it more probable that I had a false negative rapid or a false positive lab based ELISA? I always thought the lab based tests were more accurate? Is the rapid oraquick just as able to detect HIV 2 antibodies as the lab based one? Still waiting for HIV 2 western blot results. Also, wanted to know if when the lab based antibody 1/2 test is reactive, do they do a HIV 2 antibody test alone before doing a HIV 2 WB or do they go straight to WB like they do for HIV 1?
Avatar f tn I received test results yesterday and need some help. The physician is optimistic that it's a false positive but I need some input. I went for retesting but need some type of hope right now. HIV 1/O/2 Abs Index Value 1.01 Reference range <1.00 HIV 1/O/2 Abs QUAL Repeatedly Reactive What factors would contribute to a false positive? was also diagnosed with BV. Could this play a factor with my antibodies for testing?
Avatar f tn i mean that can my previous negative elisa after rapid test positive cancelled the positive results(ie, rapid results were false)
Avatar n tn A false positive occurs when the ELISA test comes up positive for hep C antibodies, but the person taking the test was never exposed to hep C virus, which leads the RNA test to read as negative. The problem is that antibodies that the immune system has produced to combat infections other than hep C can be what’s known as “cross-reactive”: The ELISA winds up picking up on these antibodies’ presence and incorrectly coming up positive.
Avatar f tn My brother received a false positive on an Elisa test. does that make me (his sister) more likely to also get a false positive?
5871250 tn?1377708161 Why would you get a positive elisa but negative western blot this meansy elsia was false positive so what can cause false positive a flu a cold is it just non specific? Have i got a disease or is it a toss of a coin can someone answer this i dont want any links just an straight fwd answer my doctor says results are non specific.
Avatar m tn If you had no exposure after your last rapid test, it's highly likely the Elisa was a false positive. And furthermore, your negative western blot confirms this. You are conclusively negative. Use condoms always. Take care.
Avatar n tn Will I be more prone to receiving false positive ELISAs in the future? Is a false positive ELISA indicative of another serious condition? I'm having trouble getting past this. I haven't really had anxiety issues in the past, but this has brought them on big time. It's horrible. I just want to move past this. Also, lately I've had a bitter taste in my mouth, but no thrush or fungal growth. Good Lord, I've become one of those people obsessed with symptoms.
Avatar f tn but if i got a false positive result on whole blood rapid test, I think it will a real false positive for this test and cannot repeat. but for me. positive rapids are repeated. but using such rapid test brand with plasma, result is negative again. Are there HIV stains which can detect only in whole blood and not in plasma. and the most important question is Can false positive results persist for a long time if they r real false positives?
Avatar f tn Can the 5.27 be a false positive? He wants to get retested. Should he repeat an ELISA or move onto Western Blot?
Avatar m tn In my case I tested positive with ELISA and automatically they send the test to Wb to confirm. If you get POSITIVE elisa they will confirm it with Wb, and yes, there is false positive, and you can search and find there are many factors that effect ELISA test. I also did PCR DNA and Quick test to confirm. These guys here know a lot and they help me a lot to go through it, I really appreciate it. About false negative, I really don't know.
