Those two tests are the usual first stop when a doc is trying to confirm or discard
a Lyme diagnosis. If the W.blot/
ELISA test(s) are
positive, they are generally considered reliable; however, if the test(s) are negative, they may well be a *false* negative, meaning that the test says 'no infection' but there really is an infection in place that needs to be killed off, just as you would do with an ear infection, strep throat, etc.
