Avatar m tn Reread what I explained. Can't make it any plainer than that.
Avatar m tn ve had 3 negative ICMA tests, and one negative Elisa test but my doctor incorrectly ordered a western blot for me to which I had the p24 band present and one other band equivocal. He said we had to retest in 4-6 weeks. After the western blot I went to a different doctor who is a friend and ordered me an Elisa. That was nonreactive. However, because the first doctor is my primary physician, I had to retest.
Avatar m tn got a tridot test done at 6 weeks it has come negative, but I have read its accuracy is only 99% should i undergo Elisa test, plz help I am in great mental delima and also which is better Tridot test or Elisa. Thanx in Advance May I request Teak or somebody to answer the question.
Avatar m tn after reading several posts, I understand that doctors in UK consider standard 3rd generation ELISA antibody test at 8 weeks conclusive. Is it true that in UK at 8 weeks, it is considered conclusive although international guideline is still 3 months.
Avatar n tn An ELISA test is that standard antibody test for HIV. The ELISA test is used as a "screening" test. The first test performed as part of a two-step testing process is called the "screening' test and the 2nd, test used to confirm the result of the screening test is the "confirmatory" test which is performed as a "reflex (i.e. automatically) on specimens which give a positive test result with the screening test. This is standard testing procedure.
Avatar n tn to get the result and ELISA test give result in 5 days atleast i ment to say that long period result means more accurate test rather then test conducted in 15 or 20 minuts.I had a rapid hiv test 8 months after my last unprotected sex which was conducted in private laboratery and comes out -ve.So how much reliable is rapid test after 8 months from last risk.
3956472 tn?1349115639 You don't need to keep starting new threads. People have replied to the others. What exactly are you asking? We've answered your question already and explained that ELISA is simply one way of processing a lab test (many different kinds of lab tests, btw). Unless you elaborate what your concern is, we can't really help.
Avatar f tn My concern here is- 1) Can seroconversion be possible after two years? 2. What worries me is after the series for 3 tests i did over the past two years after exposure, i am scared if i serconverted after 2-3 years and ended up infecting my wife???I dying with guilt, all this while after the 3 tests i though i was fine, but after my wifes positve elisa and negative wb result i am scared.Doctor please advice.
Avatar f tn I had an Elisa at 31/2 weeks and a rapid blood test at 5 1/2 weeks both were neg. I explained my exposure to the counselor and asked should I be retested, he thought I was ok and said I could retest if I wanted too but that my negative status was a good indication of where I stand.
Avatar m tn You would not get acute HIV ARS symptoms the next day after exposure. It must have been some other type of garden variety bug. Get an ELISA test at 3 months for a conclusive result. Ask your doctor for his/her view pn a DNA PCR.
Avatar n tn i know you have to test at least 6 weeks. ill test again in three more weeks. just couldnt wait that long.
Avatar m tn Because of concerns about false-positive tests, particularly in low-prevalence populations (such as blood donors or asymptomatic adults), the CDC has recommended confirming positive ELISA results with a supplemental test (recombinant immunoblot assay or polymerase chain reaction), unless the signal-to-cut-off ratio is above a predetermined threshold that has been shown to confirm positive more than 95% of the time.
1637820 tn?1303456643 All i know it was an elisa test and didnt remember seen where he got it from? what is the risk here and explained why? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Is the ELFA test method an improved ELISA (as explained by the doctor at Apollo) and is it a Duo test/4th generation test? 3> Do I need to get another ELISA done at a different lab? Appreciate you response. Thanks, Hivedoff P.S: I have already sked a few related questions in the doctors forum, which have been kindly answered by Dr. EWH and Dr.HHH. But, I wanted a more specific answer about Apollo Hospital and if the ELFA test in India is approved ?
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar f tn I see it as a misinterpretation if u have a positive elisa, negative supplement test and still was told that you are conclusively hiv positive. That's insane. All she had to say was that i need to confirm with western blot. She knew nothing about multispot and labeled me from the start.
Avatar m tn I don't understand why you would test for a no risk issue.
Avatar f tn que them have had sex without a condom with a girl who smokes marijuana and good day to 3 comense me to sweat much my back was burning and I also felt well and I itched all over so I went to the 16 days to get me ELISA at 16 days of 3g 4g and I came nonreactive then went to the dermatologist doctor and I found ceborreica dermatitis and prescribed some creams until now the doctor did not disappear dermatitis I explained that I came out dermatitis type 1 diabetes who already have five years'm

Avatar m tn There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
