Terrified, I got myself tested using HIV ELISA antibody test after 60 days of exposure, which turned out to be negative. On the 83rd day post exposure, I got another HIV ELISA antibody test done ( test report said that the test detects both HIV I and HIV II antibodies), which turned out be negative as well.

I received test results yesterday and need some help. The physician is optimistic that it's a false positive but I need some input. I went for retesting but need some type of hope right now. At 4 weeks I got a naat test and it was negative. At 10 weeks I got a elisa oral test and was negative. what are the chances of that test turning positive.? Are my test conclusive? I feel tired all the time, eyes feel heavy all the time and I got a rash that hurts between my legs .

I suffer from OCD and maybe my questions are completely irrational but I need a professional opinion. Two months ago I had hiv elisa and rpr-vdrl tests. I get nervous when blood is drawn so I didn't look where the nurse took the needle from. So later I started to worry what if it was reused. I went back to the clinic and they assured me that the needles are never reused. I should trust what they've told me?

Thanks teak, we have tried those antibody test but the problem here is most test here are not fda approved. Anyone who knows if i can get the at least the fda approved test in either singapore or thailand. Any neighbouring country please.

Dear concerned, go to another anonymous centre in toronto (if you are in toronto), and ask ofr Elisa antibody test, they check for both strains.

I tested -ve at 19 weeks post my exposure using aproper test (ELISA) but i still suffer from symptoms like pains and aches in my thighs and abdomen and from a very dry mouth. I am planing to test at 6 months given that i still suffer from symptoms what are the chances that my test is going to turn +ve?

A lot of hosiptals have to need to send there tests out if they have the equipment in their Path lab to run the tests. A test at 3 month post exposure wouldn't matter what generation it was would be conclusive.

MEIA is a reliable test but you never had a risk.

After this on 12th day i gone for HIV test HIV 1&2 ELISA METHOD, report says negative(0.415 S/Co) and again on 32nd day i went for HIV test which is HIV 1/2 & p24 Combo test (CMIA), report says non reactive(0.1). I found out he is HIV positive. I had the ELISA test done and it showed negative for antibodies. When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies.Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?
