Avatar m tn hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Avatar m tn The repaid test at home are 90% accrued for give positive and remaining as false positive and test like elisa are 100% accrued in giving negative given the person had pass the window period and 99.6% accrued for positive result ..which mean in given 1000 result possible that .04%( 4 person) will be false positive ...that a reason why a person with positive test are send for more testing and etc... i agree with AnixousinAk to consult the infectious disease specialist for your situation ...
5871250 tn?1377708161 Ok listen my infectious diseases consultant orderd me a lyme blood test im in the UK what they do here is if the ELISA test comes positive they carry out a WESTERN BLOT now after speaking to the guys at the bloodtest unit he kinda gave it away that a westernblot was carried out so this means that the elisa came positive right?
Avatar m tn Therefore, the official information provided by the manufacturer, and used by many laboratories, is that any ELISA ratio over 1.1 is positive. But experts in STD and infectious disease in general, and herpes in particular, know that only values 3.5 and greater are definitely positive. As far as your own results are concerned, you are smack in the middle of the gray zone. One research study suggests that the HSV-1 result also should be taken into consideration.
Avatar f tn Currently seeing an infectious disease doctor because my Lyme disease western blot was positive. The doctor is doing another hiv Elisa test..he says the results will be available in 3 days. Is there a chance that the Elisa will be positive and that the rapid test didn't catch the infection?
Avatar f tn The first case of group N was found by an ELISA test. There has only been 7 cases of Group N. Those cases are all in Cameroon and you don't live in Cameroon. So take it elsewhere.
Avatar n tn just 1 week back.i got it tested from a path lab by rapid elisa test in blood.both hiv 1 and hiv 2 were negative.
Avatar f tn can another negative ELISA prove false positives? western blot is not easily available here.
Avatar m tn Now I am really worried. I have tested for HIV test. My elisa test is postive and western blot is negative.I was tested 7 months after that sex episode. I have developed so much anxiety that i keep getting tested. My elisa keeps on coming positive and western blot is negative. last test was done after 1 year. 1. do you think I have tested too late that western blot is not able to detect antibodies.? I know that elisa test has some false positive results....2.
Avatar f tn Have a standars ELISA test and if posiitve then the WB will need to be done again.
Avatar n tn They completed an ELISA test which came back positive. They did the Western Blot which came back negative. DR requested I be tested again in 2 months. For reassurance, I requested the RNA testing which I should hear back soon (blood drawn for test 5 Jan 09). I've had no symptoms. My concern is the false positive being an indication of exposure since I'm in the "window period" and the ELISA was done just 2.5 weeks after a possible exposure.
280418 tn?1306325910 What kind of test did he do as I am unaware the ELISA nor the W. Blot show this particular result. Please help!
Avatar m tn In any case is determine rapid hiv test and 2nd generation elisa test at 11 weeks considered conclusive or should I retest at 12 weeks
Avatar m tn hi there, is there anyone there has a persistent positive test but a indeterminate western blot result? This is killing me, what is causing the result? Am I infected? I don kw what else can I do?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the explanation on CD4 counts. As far as the ID doc I'm just going on the advice of my GP.
1794638 tn?1345155061 It seems to me when I first tested for HCV I was contacted from the county health department and was considered a statistic at that point, for infectious disease. I just wonder if I slay this dragon if they apply that information to new statistics ???
Avatar n tn blocking the completion of the ELISA test, so she told me to go and get another test done to be sure (this being a month later) but thought that it was probably nothing to worry about. I went and got the second test done and it came back non-reactive/negative. I have never had sex, injected drugs, nor have I had a blood transfusion. The only contact I had in India was with dirty water. Should I trust the second test results? Thanks.
Avatar n tn To determine if hepatitis C antibodies (HCAb or anti-HCV) are in your blood, doctors use a screening test called ELISA, which stands for Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay. There are many different ELISA tests, so doctors must use one specifically for hepatitis C. The ELISA test will search the blood sample for the hepatitis C antibody. If any are found, this means that you might have HCV infection.
Avatar m tn At that point i went crazy. I went to a infectious disease specialist and he performed another Elisa test and a Combo test (7 and a half weeks post exposure). The elisa came back positive again, with the same results as the last test (that was performed 2 and a half weeks before the second test), with no antibody dinamics (no increase in the amount of antibodies compare to the 1st test). The Combo test came back positive as well (because of the Elisa), but the p24 antigen was not detected.
Avatar n tn When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies. Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?
