If your test was taken 3 months after the last injection, then the result should be accurate. The ELISA test rarely gives a false negative, and usually if done right after getting an injection of an immunosuppressant such as Decadron.
HIV antibodies develop 3-6 months after exposure, though usually within the first month.
If you're still uneasy, get another test in 3 months.
1) is the 6-wk elisa test conclusive - i.e. do i need to test again? 2) what is the duration of a normal acute hiv rash? 3) Given that the onset of the rash was at least 2 weeks before my 6-wk elisa test, if it was in fact a symptom of seroconversion, should this have shown up in the test? - i.e. how long after symptoms show will an hiv test pick up antibodies (i.e. seroconversion occur)?
How accurate is an PCR dna hiv test combo with an elisa test at 30 days, if you test neg on both. would testing at 3 months be considered conclusive for one time unprotected vaginal sex. also if pcr hiv testing is not used to diagnose hiv infection then how come all of the testing centers promote it and are allowed to do so.
Possible exposure (protected but drunk) during last week December to first week January 2010 (by 10th?). Oral swab test on 1/29/10 in NYC clinic was negative. For the last time...you did not have a risk, you never required testing.
I don't know why you are getting a WB test? That is not the appropriate testing. A WB is used as a confirmatory test after a pos or inconclusive ELISA result. It makes no sense to have a WB by itself.
Your 8 week negative is proof you didn't get HIV. If you are really having a hard time moving on...then test again (ELISA) at 3 months post the exposure.
I tested 5 times in the duration of 6 months after 2 years. Theis test was done by ELISA, Rapid test, Anti dot, CMIA etc. All where negative all the times. But the problem is i still have pain in growin area(sever), armpit. White tongue. The pain comes and go.

those days I had all symptomps of HIV infection (white path , rash , fever,...) and I gave all test( p24 in day 18 , pcr in week 7 and ELISA after 4 month). now I should repeat all agian, this is so intolerable. :D
in my country the statistics of infected sex workers is at most 1 percent.
so the probability is 0.01 * 0.002 = 0.0002 , so I need another value to multiply in these formola ;)

When I was diagnosed in 1991 they were not doing s/co testing. The RIBA test is a confirmatory test for the antibody test. It is no longer widely used in this country as there are better confirmatory tests like the NAT and PCR. The PCR is the gold standard....it is the only test that tells you whether the virus is in your blood. All the others just tell you about the antibodies.Why do you think after everyone and your doctor tells you that you do not have HCV that you are still so concerned?
my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
My husband had positive elisa test with 3.45 value in august 2016 for hepatitis c. Then he got treatment aND it showed 0.85 value in January 2017. He got checked his hepatitis C by elisa test again two days back. It showed a value of 85.0. He's active n doing job. No cough or any other symptoms. He did it as just a routine checkup. Please guide if elisa test can be 85.0 ?? What should we do next? Much worried! !
