Avatar m tn While I realize this is low risk, I wanted to get tested as soon as possible out of concern for my long term partner. First, my doctor recommended I get an Elisa test asap (just passed the 2 week mark) that came back negative. Then an online website that administers HIV testing through Quest suggested I get the PCR by DNA test as it was just after 4 weeks...it came back negative. I realize you don't recommend the PCR test.
Avatar m tn I was able to get both the herpeselect ELISA and Immunoblot tests done through direct to consumer testing sites. I took the ELISA twice and the Immunublot once (all hsv 1 and 2 type specific IGG tests), all of which came back negative. I didn't realize the Immunoblot was available until after already taking the ELISA. From the herpeselect site the Immunoblot has much better hsv1 detection, which is primarily what I am concerned with.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me an dna pcr test along with an hiv1 direct p24 with elisa. My pcr came back negative in 7 days but now its after 8 days and I haven't got the results from the other one. I'm a little worried that the longer it takes is not a good sign. What is the average time for this test?
Avatar f tn today i have tested by a finger prick elisa rapid card test from 6 months and 15 days later from my risk behavior. Avatar n tn The PCR HIV test usually returns in 5 to 7 days. We offer the HIV PCR DNA test along with the Standard Elisa HIV Test. The Standard Test usually returns the next day. This testing combo is the best and only way to detect early infection. PCR is so sensitive, that there is a possibility of false positive results. Indeterminate results are also possible. It is our policy that any positive tests will be repeated on a new blood draw sample at no additional cost to you.
Avatar n tn You are not positive for HIV until they come back with the result of the western blot. Did you have unprotected vaginal or anal sex? When was the last time?
Avatar n tn PS -- I should also have added: There is a newer, different test for Lyme, called a polymerase chain reaction [PCR] test that Lyme specialists often use in addition to the Western blot and ELISA tests. The Wblot/ELISA tests rely on your immune system reaction to determine whether you have a positive (+) test or a negative (-) test for Lyme.
Avatar m tn I have a exposure with a prostitute without condom about 22 weeks ago, I have done HIV Elisa Test in 6 weeks, in 13 weeks Western Blot and in 18 weeks Elisa and now in 22 weeks again Elisa, every test has Negative result. But so many problems has been shown in the body like Eczema, Problem in eyes (Dryness, redness, eyelashes fallen down),fatigueness, almost oral problem (gum, tongue). Even the test result cames Negative but I'm still afraid, is there still a chances to be positive.
Avatar m tn Hello! I want to ask question, hope you can help me. I tested 4 years after my last exposure with ELISA 3rd generation, i tested 3 times: first test index value 0.377 nonreactive <0.9 second test 0.586 nonreactive <0.9 third test 0.289 nonreactive <0.9 When i lokked at this forum, i saw on Herpes medhelp forum that some person who works in hospital and her name is Terri Warrem, she says that hor herpes elisa test, true negatives are index values up to 0.
Avatar n tn Is it really possible to just test antigens using Elisa P24 and what is the window period for that? Likewise, is it possible to just test for antibodies using Elisa P24 and what's the window period there? If there was a test conducted before the end of the window period, what is the general likelihood of testing false negative (to be tested positive at the end of window period)?

Avatar f tn Check the test results from IGeneX and see what the test was -- IGeneX may have run an antibody test at your doc's request. If you can't tell from the test results what was done, call IGeneX and ask. If you ask a generic question such as 'I have my test results here, but I can't tell if they were a Western blot/ELISA test or a DNA test', they might tell you. They have to be careful not to give medical advice, tho, and they will draw the line where they think appropriate.
Avatar f tn s reaction to the Lyme bacteria, the PCR test looks for DNA of the Lyme bacteria in your blood -- that is, a direct test, rather than an indirect test like W.blot/ELISA. Docs who are not particularly up to date on Lyme do not 'believe' in the PCR test but do believe that W.blot/ELISA is fully accurate. If you need help finding a Lyme specialist who understands all this, let us know.
Avatar m tn Without knowing what test they done can't tell you. Your are not going to get a standard ELISA test results in less than 4 hours. The turn around time for an ELISA is apx. 2 weeks.
472212 tn?1207770866 at 6 week 95% of people that are infected test positive, at 8 week 98-99% would test positive at 12 week=3 months the test is conclusive, so you are negative.
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
