Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test canada

elisa-test

Avatar n tn Any antigen test should be followed with an antibody test at the proper time. Canada uses the MEIA test which is the same as the ELISA test in the US. They also use rapid tests. I have no idea where you test but I'm sure it's in the phone book.
Avatar f tn after 13 weeks ill tested negative for hiv1/hiv2 elisa test 2nd generation? this test is conclusive? after my test ill developed rashes all over my body (small, raised, bump) do you think im converting now to negative to positive? 3. this is my final question and want some answer for this...if someone knows how can ill get the hiv homekit here in alberta canada? please answer ill dont want to come back again to the clinic.
Avatar n tn I am shocked and cant believe that clinics would only test for HIV-1 in Canada. How can the public have any confidence in testing for HIV when HIV-2 is being ignored. I am going to have to drive to buffalo and do a rapid test there to cover both 1/2 strains. Anyone have thoughts on the matter?
Avatar m tn it's my understanding that the test covered in canada is the non-type specific test. you have to pay out of pocket for type specific testing unless ordered by a gyn or infectious disease doctor.
Avatar m tn stop posting in CAPITAL LETTERS... an elisa is an antibody test.
Avatar m tn You also could request repeat testing by the HerpeSelect ELISA test, which give the numerical value I described above; or you could have another test with the BiokitUSA test (I don't know if it's marketed in Canada, e.g. as BiokitCanana?), which is a pretty good tie-breaker. But why mess around with the less certain tests? See above about Western blot testing.
Avatar n tn But now I am concerned that the test could be bogus because it said HIV 1/2 (Dogrulama). I dont speak turkish so I dont know what that test is. I would think a test such as Elisa would be the same in every language. Should I be worried about the accuracy of my Negative?
Avatar n tn You don't need a PCR test. PCR-DNA test is not a diagnostic test. Go get an ELISA test if you have a concern.
1606441 tn?1303945000 Brethor: For canadians there is no charge for Elisa testing. If your Elisa comes back positive or even indeterminate, they will then send it to public health to confirm with a westernblot (no charge). I would ask your doctor if he is sending your tests to IgenEx. IF NOT. it sounds like the candian health care system is changing things. DO NOT! i REPEAT do not pay for an elisa. It is not worth it. Tell him/her if you are going to pay, that you want your blood work to go to IgenX!
Avatar m tn I am and my elisa came back negative that test really isnt accurate. If you are from Canada i wouldnt waste any more time with our healthcare they dont have a clue about lyme or at least that was my experience(but it sounds like thats common everywhere not just here). Find a naturopath that specializes in lyme preferably an ilads one. There arent many i had to go 1300km to get to one. They will most likely order an igenex western blot test and go from there.
Avatar m tn I had a questionable encounter with a female i met online through dating site. I live in Canada and had a protected sex (latex condom) later to realize that her periods were on and i had blood all over the condom but the condom didn't fail at all. Also I i had received Fellatio (BJ) from her. The whole episode (blood on the condom) disgusted me so much that i started reading blogs about STD's and got really anxious.
Avatar m tn after reading several posts, I understand that doctors in UK consider standard 3rd generation ELISA antibody test at 8 weeks conclusive. Is it true that in UK at 8 weeks, it is considered conclusive although international guideline is still 3 months.
Avatar m tn Not sure where to get it done here in Ottawa, Canada. Just wondering if anyone might know where I could get the DUO test done? I know 12-13 weeks is conclusive but I am hoping to get a test done at just over 4 weeks. I am still going to do the 12-13 week test for sure but the anxiety and waiting is really affecting me. Thank you.
Avatar n tn hello every body i had a possible hiv exposure on 6th of jan, 2008, and i got all ARS symptoms during the past three month, including persistent sore throat (two months), rash and spots on thighs, arms, chest and neck, a stiff neck, spots on the back of the throat and tiny yellow spots on inside of my cheeks. I went back to India from Canada in Feburay and got test at 6th and 8th week (Elisa thrid generation) and both test came back negative. On Ist april i.e.
Avatar f tn Is there a place in Vancouver which does Elisa test and is independent of naturopathic practices. I mean if there is a general medicine laboratory performing Elisa tests on patients who pay from their own pockets (but the sort of lab that is not connected with naturopath).
Avatar n tn Hello, I recently done a HIV ELISA Duo testing on October 19th 2018. I am based in Canada so ELISA Duo Test is the one offered in all of the STD clinics within my province based on the Provincial Health Services bulletins. From what I read, ELISA Duo Test checks for both the antigen and the antibody. The last sexual encounter I had was September 30th with protected oral and vaginal sex with a woman whose sexual history I do not know, but is not a drug user but may have frequent partners.
Avatar n tn although i have five negative test, one at 6th week (Elisa third generation), 8th week (p24 antingen), 12th week rapid test (toronto), 14th week (Elisa antibody test), and 15th week rapid test. All came back negative. The elisa test result that i received yesterday were negative, but it has increased my anxiety, because it was written at the bottom of the test results that any one showing persistent symptoms compatible with hiv should retest at the 6 months.
Avatar m tn I asked this nurse what generation ELISA test they used and she said we only use ELISA for Syphillis, we use an antibody-antigen test for HIV. I don't think she has any idea what she is talking about, but still its scared me what she said about her other patient. What she basically led me to believe was that you can have HIV and never produce antibodies. When I went back for my negative results the following week and relayed this information to the nurse giving me my results.
Avatar m tn Our health care system for HIV is terrible. The only test that will provide is the Elisa test or a standard blood test that will give results within 2 weeks. But won't do the combi test or and RNA test.
