Elidel linked to cancer

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel linked to cancer

elidel

Avatar n tn However I did not go and get the prescription because I did some research on Elidel and found that it was related to some cases of cancer. I would really like to use it, or an alternative, but I am worried about the risk of cancer directly related to Elidel.
Avatar m tn When you and your doctor find that other treatments aren’t right for you or your child, your doctor may prescribe ELIDEL. ELIDEL is for mild to moderate eczema in adults and children 2 and older. Use ELIDEL for short periods when you, or your child, have symptoms, as directed by your doctor. Repeat as needed with breaks in between. The safety of using ELIDEL cream for a long period of time is not known. “A very small number of people who have used ELIDEL Cream have had skin cancer or lymphoma.
Avatar m tn My question here is that 1) I don’t know if I have skin cancer, because of the over use of elidel. Very recently I also found out that elidel should not be used for more than a month or so, because of the chances of skin cancer. I am using it for more than a year now. I might have used around 50 to 60 times so far. I always have had this anal problem and the scalp problem, from almost ten years now. I don’t know about the other medicines over usage, the doctor never told me.
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar m tn Also he said it appeared to be dermatitis as you stated and I was prescribed elidel since I was not interested in using steroid creams anymore. I have read that elidel is linked to cancer and has a fda black box warning, do you think elidel is appropriate/safe or not? Understand that I am not looking to make things any worse than they have already become from the prior treatment!
Avatar n tn Thanks again, you seem to be very knowlegable about this Elidel. However, what exactly are these long term side effects you speak of? And would only two weeks use put me at risk for that? The doctor told me that the cancer warning by the FDA was" bogus" and held no credible evidence. For your information: I used Elidel for 12 days for what was thought to be dermatitis on my penis head, although I noticed no improvement after this time and therefore discontinued its use.
Avatar n tn Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped. What I want to know is this enough time for the Elidel to take full effect? Could it have done any harm to my skin after almost two weeks use, since it didn't really help, if so then what? And, does Elidel thin or damage sensitive skin such as that on the penis or should I have kept using it for longer?
Avatar n tn I was using it on naturally thin skin to treat what I thought was dermatitis. I have heard that it takes longer for Elidel to take effect compared to a low strength steroid cream, but exactly how long should you use it for, without noticing any improvement?
Avatar m tn and after one week I noticed another inflammation and scaly area appeared around my mouth and then i went to another doctor and he prescribed an Elidel cream and to stop using the hydrocort cream but he didn't told me if i still need to put the cream on my cheeks too or as i noticed blood veins appeared on it and pale red dots and still large pores but with no pain as the doctor is at London now so i need your help can i use elidel even if this area is not have an eczema ?

Avatar n tn a half and risk serious side effects, if it is unnecessary to do so! My doctor seemed unsure as to whether it was going to eventually work or not, and that is why I am asking on here before I continue using. So, would/could Elidel cause ANY damage to sensitive skin after two weeks use such as thinning or any other side effects at all? < Please answer this question specifically! Also, shouldn't it have helped by now after 12 days use, if it was going to work?
Avatar n tn m have trouble understanding why the Elidel worked so well to clear it up but as soon as I stop it, everything returns? (seems was a temporary fix). After reading a lot on PD it seems it acted like a steroid almost, made skin better when used and rebounds as soon as its stopped. Im hoping the doubled up Doxy will work soon, but any suggestions/explanations behind why Dr has chosen to pull me off Elidel, knowing I'll get worse?
Avatar m tn Okay thanks, so then how long would you expect it to normally take for EpiCeram to work and completely clear the dermatitis, before I should turn to the Elidel? How about the Elidel?
Avatar n tn Elidel is very useful in treating mild to moderate eczema in immunocompromised individuals who do not respond to conventional therapy. Elidel cream does not cause skin thinning. It is suggested to consult your dermatologist before using it. I sincerely hope it helps. Best luck and kind regards!
Avatar n tn I have read that Elidel can possibly help to reverse skin atrophy, and definitely does not cause any itself. Is this true, & how so? If not, then what effect would Elidel have on thin skin that has suffered atrophy from the use of strong topical steroid creams?
Avatar m tn I have Vitiligo and the dermatologist gave me Elidel to help with it, But I want to if Elidel really works before I waste my time with it, I am dark skinned but the light patches I have aren't white/pale their just a lighter brown, and most of my arms are the light colored brown, It's confusing because I though vitiligo makes the skin pale, please help me if you can.
Avatar n tn have some additional points to discuss. can i use Elidel on and off basis. my skin condition is better now. can i stop applying Elidel and start it again if slight deterioration shows? moreover i've a daugter of 7 months old. she has also rashes on her foehead and near ears. these are itchy. doctor suggested to appy Zocort for 5 days and it was gone. but again the rashes has appeared. the rashes are not too many but itcy. what should i do? should i reapply zocort for 5 days once again.
Avatar n tn I previously used Elidel 1% twice daily for two weeks on sensitive skin. I know what Elidel is and that it's an alternative to steroid creams for treatment of dermatitis & that is why I tried it. When I saw NO results after two weeks, I figured it wasn't going to help so discontinued using it. I want to know if that was too long to use without seeing any improvement (could it have done any harm)?

Avatar m tn Hi there - this is a bit confusing. Elidel is intended to be used to control skin conditions like the ones you mentioned. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-22383/elidel-topical/details. Both of those conditions can cause your skin to become very red and bumpy. Elidel controls those symptoms, so it is logical that if you reduce or stop using the cream, the symptoms will resurface.
Avatar m tn Today I use Rozex Gel 1% which looks fair for maintenance but does not eliminate the redness, sometime I use Elidel for 102 days, I am affraid to use Elidel because I heard 2 docs telling it can cause cancer, but Elidel evidently remove the redness from the face. Any advice from the lovely people here in this forum will be deeply appericiated.
