Common Questions and Answers about Elidel and skin cancer

elidel

Avatar m tn HHH, I meant to say i dont know if i have skin cancer, and even if i did, do you think that would have an impact on my HIV antibody test. Because i did not take any chemotherapy or anything, according to what you said, where chemotherapy can affect the HIV antibody test result. In August 2009, i got a life insurance policy, dont you think they will check for any abnormalities, and sent me to further testing if i had cancer? Thank you very much Doctor.
Avatar n tn However I did not go and get the prescription because I did some research on Elidel and found that it was related to some cases of cancer. I would really like to use it, or an alternative, but I am worried about the risk of cancer directly related to Elidel.
Avatar m tn I am having the anal condition from 1998 and then the scalp condition from 2000. I was using elidel(1 yr) and analpram(5 years), pramosone(1yr) and lately nystatin(last one year) for the anal hemmoriods. I was using olux foam(4 yrs), extina(1yr) for the scalp irregularities. I do lot of scratching on the anal area and the scalp, due to which these medications regularly mix with the blood. Because I used to have heavy bleeding due to the scratching and itching.
Avatar m tn It does not cause thinning of the skin. But the other rare serious side effects include skin cancer, lymphoma, fevers, and infections, short of breath, facial swelling and blisters. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I used Elidel for 12 days for what was thought to be dermatitis on my penis head, although I noticed no improvement after this time and therefore discontinued its use. It didn't seem to have made the skin worse, atleast as far as I can tell! Also, in your opinion, was this too long to use it without seeing any benefit or should I not be so concerned?
Avatar n tn t really help, if so then what? And, does Elidel thin or damage sensitive skin such as that on the penis or should I have kept using it for longer?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the response doctor. However, what effects would Elidel likely have on normal skin, or skin that didn't actually have eczema? I used it for 12 days (twice daily) on already thin skin for what I thought was dermatitis, although after this time I saw no improvement so therefore discontinued its use. Also, in your opinion, was "almost two weeks" too long to use Elidel without beneficial results or what harm could have it done? <Please answer this!
Avatar n tn I have read that Elidel can possibly help to reverse skin atrophy, and definitely does not cause any itself. Is this true, & how so? If not, then what effect would Elidel have on thin skin that has suffered atrophy from the use of strong topical steroid creams?
Avatar m tn are EpiCeram or MimyX (skin barrier creams) as effective as Elidel (skin-selective inflammatory cytokine inhibitor)? I have dermatitis on an area of my body where the skin is already naturally thin(genitals) and am not interested in using steroid creams, so my doctor prescribed elidel. After researching it and finding out that it has a black box warning, I also asked for a prescription for EpiCeram which I am currently using and have used for almost a month now.
Avatar m tn I saw my ENT doc which is very good and he notices I have redness on my face (cheeks), he recommended me to try Elidel. Today I am using Rozex and it helps and prevent Flares but still there is some redness. I am now 6 weeks post EOT, UND and hope to stay UND. Someone has experience with Elidel ? Can it cause any problem to the liver or to the treatement ?
Avatar n tn have some additional points to discuss. can i use Elidel on and off basis. my skin condition is better now. can i stop applying Elidel and start it again if slight deterioration shows? moreover i've a daugter of 7 months old. she has also rashes on her foehead and near ears. these are itchy. doctor suggested to appy Zocort for 5 days and it was gone. but again the rashes has appeared. the rashes are not too many but itcy. what should i do? should i reapply zocort for 5 days once again.
Avatar m tn I understand that Elidel does not carry the side effects associated with steroid creams such as skin thinning, but does Elidel have any serious side effects to the skin at all that I should be aware of? Also, if I do give it a try, how long should I expect to see results (a week, 2, a month) and how long is it safe to use it for? Or should I use something else instead?
Avatar n tn What effect would two weeks use of Elidel have on normal skin on the head of the penis? I mean would it do any harm if used on thin skin with no actual dermatitis present; if so, then what would happen?
Avatar n tn I previously used Elidel 1% twice daily for two weeks on sensitive skin. I know what Elidel is and that it's an alternative to steroid creams for treatment of dermatitis & that is why I tried it. When I saw NO results after two weeks, I figured it wasn't going to help so discontinued using it. I want to know if that was too long to use without seeing any improvement (could it have done any harm)?
Avatar n tn t think steroid creams were appropriate for the area of body that I am treating which has thin skin. Anyways, I have been using the Elidel for about 10 days now, and have NOT seen any noticable difference in my skin condition. I am concerned because it says in the instructions not to use for long term, yet doesn't specify how long it should take to start working. I would really appreciate another doctor's opinion on how long it normally takes for Elidel to clear dermatitis?
Avatar m tn Initially it was the skin inside the urthera that was red and irritated and the cream was to absorb into skin and treat it. I did not put it in the urethra but on top the skin right around the opening which some could have gotten in there. Was this even a reasonable treatment and why would he give me such a powerful steroid for my penis?
Avatar f tn After a month i broke out with atopic dermatitis again but this time it was red itchy bumps so she gave me elidel to use for 3 and a half months.. Whenever i stop elidel there are itchy pimple like rash on my cheeks with a little whithead that is tiny but oozes fluid! Is that a withdrawal from elidel?!!
Avatar m tn com/drugs/2/drug-22383/elidel-topical/details. Both of those conditions can cause your skin to become very red and bumpy. Elidel controls those symptoms, so it is logical that if you reduce or stop using the cream, the symptoms will resurface. You may wish to ask about alternative treatments, but most of them are going to have a very similar composition. The condition will always exist unless you use some sort of medication to suppress the symptoms.
Avatar n tn Or did you take Elidel to correct the problem and, if so, did it help?
Avatar n tn How many days or weeks should it take to seen an effect with Elidel on thin skin with dermatitis? I used for nearly two weeks (12 days exactly) without any improvement for my so called "dermatitis" diagnosis by a dermatologist. Now I am concerned that I shouldn't have used it for that long without seeing results! Was this too long for me to use Elidel if dermatitis is not really what I have; and if so, what could have this done in terms of damage to normal skin?
Avatar n tn Hello, Elidel is indicated as second-line therapy for the short-term and non-continuous chronic treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis and can be used on the penis but use it under medical supervision under a dermatologist’s guidance. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn However, I would like to know from another doctor if 12 days was too long for me to use Elidel without seeing any improvement?(I mean could it have done any harm to the skin since it didn't help at all?) It says on the instructions to stop using and contact a doctor if condition does not improve after 6 weeks, however I do not wish to use this for a month & a half and risk serious side effects, if it is unnecessary to do so!
Avatar f tn Her skin improved when we avoided the foods that she was allergic to. When she was 3 1/4 yrs (it was winter) her skin became very itchy and looked like prickly heat and none of the soothing cream helped - the doctor prescribed Elidel - it healed the flare ups but I had to use elidel everyday which we did not prefer.
