1227049 tn?1267237385 As the natural stuff I have tried does not work (I have tried basically every over the counter product available), and through my internet research, I am wondering if either Protopic (Tacrolimus) or Elidel (Pimecrolimus) would be a good thing to try out. I am especially wary of applying hydrocortisone around the eye area, but as I have eczema there as well I am at a loss of what to do about it.
Avatar n tn Could any of these infections or problems or AUTOIMMUNE diseases/disorders or the IMMUNOSUPPRESSANT medicines cause a false negative test result, meaning that I am infected with HSV2 but my body just hasn't been able to produce enough antibodies, especially seeing how I took suppressive therapy only ONE week before taking the test. Please keep in mind that I have had these problems for about a year now and have been using the Protopic and Elidel for quite some time, well over 3 months..
Avatar m tn Secondly, it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema. Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis. Diagnosed by blood test like RAST. Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps.

Avatar n tn I have the same problem on my scrotum. The only thing that works is Vaseline and diet. Stay away from sugar, processed foods and foods that make your body acidic. My problem started over a year a go and has bothered me every day. Don't use steroids it only makes it worse. Elidel is dangerous and doesn't work. Protopic is also a possibility but is also a black box. The problem is a digestive disorder. If I drink orange juice it gets bad if I eat fruit and veggies it doesn't bother me.

I had spots all over my face, neck and legs to start with. It took two months for me to start seeing results and then in month three and four the spots started to get smaller after filling in with dots. The spots on my face, neck, under arms are gone.

Avatar m tn I see I'm coming to this discussion quite late -- and the MD may have touched on just about ALL the fixes -- but if this fella still needs some input, or if others do, I'd like to add...If you chew gum, or suck on hard candy, or ingest sugar in some form regularly, quit -- for at least a week -- and see if that doesn't help. Milk will also sometimes do this to sensitized skin. Away, look to the things you do habitually (cup your chin in your hand?
