effexor

Avatar f tn Yes i had the same problem with effexor. In turn this made me worse because i couldn't sleep.
Avatar f tn hi do u think that the prozac (snri) may not help or even not work as it's an snri and not a ssri like the effexor. what is the best ssri to have a try if the effexor didn't work for me. why would my doctor swtich me from an ssri to an snri if he knows it may not help with my anxiety. iv never been depressed just had a panic attack in 2008 which caused me to have sleep problems.and thats when i was put on an anti depressant which sum people think they shouldn't have done.
928827 tn?1244736114 So i just started my lexapro, 20mg while weening off effexor 37.5 ... 2 more days and i'll be totally off the effexor. i have been having some of the wierdest dreams.. and i can't really sleep to well.. and when i do get to sleep, it's not really how do i say, a good quality of sleep. i think it's from both the medications... another problem is i keep "jumping" day by day, like one day i feel great, with a little bit of anxiety the next (like today) a lot of anxiety.
Avatar m tn I'm confused. Is this a psychiatrist or a general doc? Given that your pharmacist has already warned you not to do this why did you do it before seeking a second opinion? Wellbutrin and Effexor are both stimulating antidepressants, so if your main problem is anxiety these aren't usually the solution; they might be if your main problem is depression, which is often the case with anxiety sufferers.
Avatar n tn Since Effexor is not a sleep medication but is an antidepressant, you will need to ask the doctor who is prescribing it. Dr.
1423357 tn?1511085442 The sleep behavior your wife is experiencing is part of Effexor withdrawal. I'm a little shocked her physician said to stop the Effexor completely and just get on the Paxil. My own psychiatrist told me that if I ever decide on my own to stop my Effexor, to let him know, because it needed to be tapered down, not stopped abruptly. I didn't listen to him, and on the very night I stopped, I had very vivid dreams that seemed very real to me and were very anxiety provoking.
Avatar f tn I am a 37 yr old woman.I was on 50 mg. of effexor and i couldnt sleep at nite so my doctor started me on 25 mg. of zonisamide and took me off effexor.I am having horrible side effects but dont know which med. is causing it.I have been crying in the mornings, having a constant stomach ache and my head feels very confused almost to the point of disillusion. Which med. is causing this?Should my doctor have me on antiseisure meds for depression?
Avatar n tn I was on Effexor for about a year, during that time I experienced horrible leg cramps. I wouldn't be able to sleep and my life was also horrible during that time. I went to the dr. and they said it was restless leg syndrom and put me on meds for that. I went off of Effexor after finally convincing my dr thats what the problem was and the pain stopped within two weeks. This of course is just my experience. I hope you get it worked out.
Avatar m tn I am a student pilot and in order to continue flying the FAA requires I stop taking Effexor XR (75mg) which I was prescribed for minor anxiety. Although I believe I was misdiagnoised since I was anxiety free, they seemed more like panic attacks... Anyways, After going through two weeks of hell coming off the drug, and not being able to sleep.
Avatar m tn I know of several friends who have gotten wonderful results on Effexor - I don't know their dosage, however. Did your Dr. rx Remeron for sleep? At this dosage, you will have intense sedation...it could carry over into the morning, too...How are you doing on it? The way Remeron works, as the dosage increases, the sedative intensity decreases - I'm not familiar with Campral...
1390101 tn?1281000559 I have been off effexor for 2.5 weeks, my sleeping patterns are horrible. I go to sleep 9 or 10 pm and wake up between 1-230 am. Does anyone know if this is a withdrawal symtom if so how long does it take to get back to normal. I also notive sex drive is slowloy coming back and I also notice that I'm not snacking at all and \i'm loosing weight. Does exfessor have anything to do with weight gain.
Avatar f tn First, your GP is right -- you need a psychiatrist. Sorry, but your GP knows he's not an expert in these meds. Most psychiatrists aren't either but when you find one that works for you you no longer have to see them very often -- you only need to see them if you have issues or need to change medication. As for sleep, the problem with taking medication regularly for sleep as opposed the way AnxiousNoMore uses it as described is it makes the insomnia worse in the long run.
Avatar f tn Allow me to clarify my previous comment about my not sleeping much when on effexor 375mg/day. When taking lyrica as well, I sleep a lot during the day and can sleep fairly solidly at night - just not at a consistent time every night. Seems that lyrica's sedative effect on me trumps effexor's opposite effect. Damn meds.
12714324 tn?1426848387 Call the doctor who prescribed the meds. Explain the lack of sleep but DON'T STOP taking the Effexor until told to do so. Wait until you can talk with your doctor and express your concerns face to face or over the phone.
Avatar f tn While I don't remember any "bad" dreams I have had quite a few abnormally vivid dreams, especially when I sleep longer than 8 hours. Have you experienced and "abnormal" dreams? My dreams have always been abnormally vivid. I was a lucid dreamer for most of my life, until I reached adulthood, when I developed problems with insomnia. Since starting Effexor, I finally sleep again at night.
457951 tn?1206218459 It disrupted my sleep when i was on it that i started to need scripts to help me sleep and the effexor to get through the day. I would really look for something else first. I'm no doctor but if you haven't tried the old standbys first(lexapro, prozac, Zoloft, or wellbutrin) I would'nt do effexor unless you plan on staying on it forever. I was on it for over two years and now have luck with lexapro!! Hang in there.
Avatar f tn I was on 225mg of effexor and xanax as needed. She told me to stop taking the effexor (which scared me, I know there are horrible withdrawl symptoms because I have experienced them when I would miss my meds.) She put me on Pristiq and Klonopin for when I have a panic attack. Yesterday I took the Pristiq and not the Effexor and when I need the Klonopin (I needed it twice) I took it. When I went to bed at night I was ok..I slept until 3am woke up for a little while and went back to sleep.
Avatar f tn On march 7th I was put on Effexor for anxiety, depression and trouble sleeping. I was also put on Restoril to help with sleeping. It worked for a couple weeks, but the prescription ran out. Total insomnia happended where i just could not sleep all night and just stayed up, the whole night. I flet like I was going crazy. I was put on trazadone 50 mg for sleep. I have taken it for 2 nights now, and I sleep but both nights woke up soaked with night sweat.
Avatar f tn For years I took Wellbutrin, then my stress level changed, so a therapist recommended Effexor. I have taken the Effexor for about a year and it really helped. Now my stress level is not as bad, so I wanted to return to the Wellbutrin. I called my PCP, who prescibed both (at different times). He said I could go from the Effexor back to the Wellbutrin, but with no program for doing it. Unfortunately, he is not a psyschiatrist. Last Friday I completely stopped the Effexor (75 mg.
466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I was on Effexor ER for approx. 10 years, and with my doctor's help have been weaning myself off since November, 2008. I followed the dr.'s advice for slow reduction and finally stopped taking Effexor ER the end of August. I had a few withdrawal symptoms, but this week I can no longer sleep. I am extremely restless and just walk and pace until totally exhausted, when I'm able to sleep for about one hour and then start the process again.
Avatar m tn averaging 3-4 hours sleep a night for days on on. Two weeks ago, I went 48 hours with 4 hours sleep. And this was causing my desperation to resolve. I am still taking 75 mg and yes, I take it early in the morning. I feel some relief in that I am sleeping a little more and feeling better. Going to a doctor gets complicated because I am unemployed and uninsured. My health care comes from State of Iowa and it can take upwards to two weeks to get an appointment with my doctor.
Avatar n tn has me taking my wellbutrin 150 mg once every 3 days and had me take 1 37.5 mg of the effexor for 5 days and no more effexor just wellbutrin. I am feeling tired, nausea and headaches I asume due to no effexor. Should I have been prescribed the effexor diffrently?
Avatar f tn My only comment is that I would prefer to completely and successfully stop the Effexor, which shouldn't be that hard because you've only been on it a short time, before starting the Zoloft. That way you'll know for certain which effects are from the Effexor withdrawal, if any, and which are side effects of the Zoloft. Good luck either way.
Avatar f tn That is why I am taking the effexor. The GABA/theanine combo has helped with the sleep greatly. Has anyone else taken this combo with Effexor to help with the insomnia? I am open to other suggestions for natural supplements to take with the effexor. It seems to help with the migraines so far. I had only 1 so far in the past 3 wks. Before that, the dr. put me on Celexa and it caused 3 day migraines every week.
