I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12! So, I took 60 mg of oxycodone and 40 mg of methadone, plus 1 mg of Ativan - all at once, instead of breaking doses up over the day. I slept great for the first time since the wreck - March 25, 2015! I even felt better today, and took nothing but my methadone and Ativan, until late in the afternoon. But, some people say I might not have woken up.

they had to give him 3 shots of morphine at the hospital to get him calmed down he was in so much pain....is there any long term side effects that might come up because of this....if there is a site to go to please send me the site....one other question...could this have killed or hurt him seriously.....

Hi all. One of my best friends has been taking heavy painkillers to manage pain due to disk surgery and partial replacement. They have been switching between things as heavy as morphine and methadone. They found her thanksgiving day not breathing with foam coming out of her mouth and nose. In an opiate tolerant person such as myself using doses of said drugs orally, what are the chances of accidental overdose? I have read that it is difficult for an opiate tolerant person to have a dangerous overdose unless they take extremely high doses.

Depending on how long you have been taking the methadone, and if a doctor properly titrated you up to 8mg per day of Klonopin, then you are not exceeding the maximum daily dose on either drug. I don't think it is uncommon for doctors to prescribe methadone and benzo's. I take 12.5mg of methadone and 1mg of klonopin daily, and I have no problems at all. Any increase in the klonopin my doctor bumps me up .5mg at a time.

It stopped working and the amount of other pain meds I need to take is crazy. I can take my 160 mg of methadone plus 120mg of morphine and get no extra pain relief, Its crazy, stay off the Methadone, its really bad and stops working long term. Good pain docs know they have to change the meds after 6 months. But its a hard work and they (the docs) dont like the extra work. Just like they dont like calling you on the phone, Im ready to go to mexico and pay a doctor there to take care of me!

My wife as administered a 1.0 ml dose of methadone at 7:45 am. At 10:42 am, she was administered morphine and robinul x 1 stat. She instantly died. Did the combination, that close together have any possibility of causing her death?

Hi! & Welcome, As everyone else has asked - How's she doing? There's an anti-dote to opiate overdose, including Methadone called Naltrexone. I hope they're keeping her in the hospital because Methadone overdose is tricky because of it's long half-life. They can bring you back in the ER - you walk out and you can go under again. So, if they have the tox. #'s - that's good - they can gauge where's she's at.

Masochism If you do not want to suffer from any of the above side effects do not start methadone treatment. Those are just a few of the symptoms you will experience. My suggestion is that if you suffer from both Add/narcolepsy and chronic pain go with an oc meds or try a Thebiane based opiod/opiate that is drugs like oxycontin, hydrocodone or Bupenorphine.

I was reading up the effects of crushing up the oxys and it read that doin so would or could result in an overdose.. i am in the process of tapering off... i was just woundering just for peice of mind what the dose would have to be to actually overdose... i am currently on 120mgs a day and dropping.. i am scared a night sometimes to fall asleep do to respitorie depression.. thanks any feedback would be appriciated.

Thought I had herniated disk again. Finally found hydromyelia in middle of back. Only think that helps is ibprofin and ice and my methadone. They have checked me for MS and ALS. I just had another MRI with contrast. Could this be from my lumbar surgery? I have DDD which I know common with back issues. I also know that my breathing issues are Probaby from smoking. At what point do they take this more seriously.

I took about half a bottle of ibprofen, fourth a bottle of extra strength tylenol, a random amount of sleeping pills, and some pills I don't know the description of. Washed it down with alcohol. As your husband is opiate tolerant, there is very little danger of overdose. When switching from one pain medication to another, there can be periods of overlap. The 30mg of methadone may not be sufficient, but because methadone can build up in the system over a period of days, your doctor will want to slowly increase the methadone dose until the desired pain relief is achieved. Just follow his instructions. The addition of tramadol (Ultram) should not cause any significant side effects.

I just realized that I have been taking three 300mg tablets of WellbutrinXL and I haven't felt any of its effects. No jitteriness, and more importantly, no seizures. What does this say about how good WellbutrinXL is for me? I felt the same way taking 900 mg as I did taking 450 mg. HI I was on methadone for 6 1/2yr if someone was to offer it to me today I would run the other way it took me 8 1/2 mo to taper off going in and out of withdrawals then it was around 90 days to get over the post withdrawals methadone is an evil drug go with sub if you dont have the disapline give it to someone you trust to give it to you your recovery time will be 1/3 of methadone you know you also have to go to the clinic everyday they will start you at about 35 or 40mg and see if that holds yo

If you are still worried, I would look up the half life of 30 mg of methadone. To my knowledge Methadone is stronger longer acting than Oxycodone. Since you were not on it long that is the way I would decide.

Methadone and methadose are the same medication. Methadose (40 mg and above) comes in wafers/tablets that can be broken in halves or quarters to reach the required dosage and can be dissolved in water before taking if needed. Methadone tablets/liquid are taken whole.

You need to discuss this with your prescribing physician, especially if you are being treated for sleep apnea. Many people die of overdose of prescribed opiates because they do not talk to their doctor, or go in for surgery and have more pain medication given to them on top of what they already take.
