HI welcome to the world of methadone they dont tell you about im sorry hun about all you can do is get off the stuff to get rid of the side effects I was on it for 6 1/2 yr and lived in a sexless marriage it s u c ked I know of nothing that can fix your problem other then getting off the stuff if you need help with that I can help good luck and God bless........

some babies need some medication and if your comfortable with it you can take them home after a few days to complete the weening process. Breast feeding is also ok when on methadone. The amount of methadone in the breast milk is so small that doctors say that the benefit of breastfeeding are worth exposing the baby to a tiny amount of methadone.
ve been on methadone through a treatment facility and there are lots of women that are on methadone as well that just had babies recently and a girl that I have seen that is pregnant now many months into her pregnancy and she is still dosing methadone. So safely you can do it under a Drs care of course. Good luck..
ve seen the doctors on here recommend suboxone for pregnant patients but I think that since suboxone is relatively new compared to methadone, I would worry that they do not know all the negative effects on unborn children yet. Methadone has been around for decades and there is nothing that they do not know already know about it. if I was in your position I would look for a methadone clinic and switch. Good luck!
I just would like to hear others experiences or if you know anything about the effects of methadone on pregnancy. Also my dose right now isn't holding me all day. I go to sleep feeling sick and wake up feeling horrible. Is that bad for my baby??
I've never has this happen before and never in my wildest imagination would I have thought this to happen. It's the most screwed up situation I have ever been in knowing what I'm doing to my baby. I need advice. I need help.
I would like to say to the people that criticize all the mothers on methadone having babies---you dont have a clue what it is like to be in that situation--and for those quoting scriptures and thinking they are just so much better than these mothers because they have never been addicted to anything and they would never consider staying on methadone while pregnant---remember the past in the Bible where Jesus says "he without sin throw the first stone??
It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.
I know it was a lot and he was on it for at least 1-2 years. His family tried to talk him out of the methadone but he visited the clinic and of course they shared many "success stories" so he is convinced that it is a good decision...I hope it is. I believe the 30mg is the high point because he is on a program to taper his doses. Of course I am not 100% sure on this but I will ask him. As I said, I'm really worried about the extremely anxious behavior that I am seeing.

You need to get your OB/GYN involved in this and if s/he is not familiar with this process, find one who is. You should not be on methadone during pregnancy.
yes plz talk to your OBGYN he can help you desised whether its safer to stay on the meth or taper off let us know what happens .

Geesha, what about cyclobenzapine? And what does methadone have to do with tramadol? Methadone treats addiction problems. I'm on bupenerophine, which is kind of like methadone but supposed to be better.
I am currently pregnant and on 120 mgs of methadone....I dont use any other drugs at all. My boyfriend wants me to have an abortion because he thinks the baby will be deformed or slow and have problems or that childrens aid will take the baby immediatly is he right? I really dont want to have an abortion but want to come off of methadone before I give birth. What do you recommend?
Please no bashing or judgments.... I'm 37 weeks along, I've taken pain pills my whole pregnancy (dr prescribed) but i had a friend who gave me a handful of methadone to take for pain i was having... Said it was safe, trusted her, was hurting so bad that i was taking them sometimes, only half at a time, randomly throughout my pregnancy. I was told by a friend recently that the hospital drug tests both mom and baby at birth and that it can go back to earlier in pregnancy.
