methadone and its side effects

It could be a side effect of the methadone or even an allergic type reaction to it. I remember when I took Macrobid (antibiotic) for a urinary infection, I had a high fever (102.3) every time I would take it, so I called my doctor's office and they told me to stop it immediately because I was having an allergic reaction to it. As it turned out, my father had had this same type of reaction to it a couple years before.

A simple search of google will give you HUNDREDS of cases where people have died from mixing methadone and benzos or other CNS depressents. I actually just went to a funeral of a guy who did that a few months ago (xanax and methadone). In fact, in just the last 2 - 3 years in my area I have personaly known 3 people who have died from that, but there have been many many more.

Hello Dan My Boy Friend is 49 and he has been on Methadone for 75 days. I am so proud of him and hate him at the same time.Please understand I love him with all my heart and would do anything for him. When we first met he was addicted to opiates . I didn;t know because he hid it at first then he had to have gallbladder surgery and it was all out in the open then,,,I was drug to every hospital around our state and then some in near by states. It was awful..

My partner is on 32mls n he's droppin a couple of mls every 2 wks, he's doin so well, I wanted 2 know how I can help him when he's of completely & wots he goin 2 b like wiv out nothin ?

I wish i had never been offered Methadone. I never noticed any side effects up untill about 2yrs ago. I have every known side effect,but the worst one of all at the moment is excessive sweating. My quality of life is zero. I sweat from head to toe most days all day. I sit with ice ,cold can's of juice sitting on my cheek's,my breasts and my wrists. Ive put on 4st in weight,and i know this wont be helping the situation. I don't know what to do anymore.

are these the side effects of someone on methadone????cause i dont understand how i can be so talkative in the past and have such a strong personilty.. then turn into a zombie with no emotions, is this what happens after taking the pill for a while.. as i said im a 26 beautiful women.( i dont feel that way but i have men talking to me constantly,) get compliments daily.

When i met him(1990) he had already started to slow down(just weekends). I really need to know what are the most common side effects that everyone goes threw. Please i am scared. The hospital where he is being treated has classes for him & I so that we both can beaware of the whole situation. Is anyone familar with YALE Hospital. One of the best in the country.

I was on the stuff for 6 1/2 yrs for pain management and that was way to long..there are a lot of side effects...noding off is one that is bothersome ....you fall asleep at the most inappropriate times like at social gatherings then there is the sexual side effects..it kills your sex drive especially in men but both sexes notice it...there is a general tiredness that I think you sorta get use to and the "methadone fog" that your under that you don't notice till your off it...

was on klonpin 11 yrs prior to xanax.. but just methadone and xanax since 04...i know about the mix or my combo vey well on very low doses of each..the xanax 0.5 5aday..methadone 10 mgs aday..was at 1 time 160 mgs i detoxed at home 2 yrs ago..got away from it 45 days then back at the dose im at..now the questshion?? my shrink has added lamictail to my combo,,i asked him if it would had any further respatory depression..he just kinda nodded his head..wating oin his nest 8 min patient..

i was on oc for yrs from a back sugery and i wanted off them b/c it was getting awful and money i spent good lord but i have a lot of pain and methadone got me off oc and clean from everything else.

You need to talk to the clinic and your ob about steps to take to get off the drug. Methadone causes serious dependency and side effects. Good luck! I was 19 when I kicked heroin and oxys (2001) and have never looked back. A good detox might help too.

So I invite her to Christmas and she shows up all wierd and tell my mom her kids and me its the med she on to kick the m-done addictions. Are the side effects to the meds going to make you seem drunk, I don't believe it myself but I thought I would get some insite on the subject, as some of you know all to well, addicts will do any say just about anything. I cant tell you of a way of experiencing stopping methadone with no side effects its probably not possible or very hard to acheive. I worked down gradually from 60mg to 4 mg of methadone, but I couldnt handle coming off 4mg and started taking codeine to feel normal. But some people can just go cold turkey of anything, and coming out the other side stronger, maybe you are one of those people!

Hi and welcome to the forum....well I was on methadone for 6 1//2yrs and also have bipolar disorder so taking antidepressants was a fact of life for me...I had good luck with celexa will taking methadone...very little side effects mixing the 2 together but all antidepressant are not the same...I agree with mr lucky on asking your dr he/she should at least know your on the methadone...

The ones I have heard have the fewest side effects are Methadone and Suboxone, but there also the ones that have terrible withdrawls. But may people say that methadone works better than anything they've tried so are willing to take the trade off. I have also heard so little negative about Opana ER like TrayCee mentioned. Everyone I've talked to who takes it has said it has really worked nicely for them. But like mentioned above, everyone reacts differently to meds.

They subsided after about a week. Oh yeah, and the constipation! yuck! The side effects you are experiencing are most likely caused by the Sub, it's different for different people. Have you read the pamphlet that came with the RX?

Is ther anything I can do to help with these problems and how long will they last. I have been totally off the methadone for a week but had gone from 30 mg, to 20mg to 10 mg to 5 mg to 2 1/2 mg over a period of three months. It scares me a little because I have panic attacks and withe all of the problems of not getting any rest I am having problems with getting anxious. I must work so the lack of sleep is hurting tht also. Plus the loose bowels are horrible.

i was suboxone treatment, and i am now at a methadone clinic and it saved my life, i am more stable,structured, motivated, and productive with my life.
