Common Questions and Answers about Effects of methadone overdose drugs

methadose

Avatar f tn Depending on how long you have been taking the methadone, and if a doctor properly titrated you up to 8mg per day of Klonopin, then you are not exceeding the maximum daily dose on either drug. I don't think it is uncommon for doctors to prescribe methadone and benzo's. I take 12.5mg of methadone and 1mg of klonopin daily, and I have no problems at all. Any increase in the klonopin my doctor bumps me up .5mg at a time.
Avatar f tn This particular drug is very stimulating for most people, which can potentially partially counter-act the narcotic effects of the methadone. Safety is a very complex issue; it doesn't just involve normal contraindications, it also involves how any medication affects a particular person as we respond differently to them. I'm assuming some professional has decided your Dad is depressed. Is he? Is he possibly over-medicated on the Methadone, which would cause depression?
Avatar m tn In an opiate tolerant person such as myself using doses of said drugs orally, what are the chances of accidental overdose? I have read that it is difficult for an opiate tolerant person to have a dangerous overdose unless they take extremely high doses.
Avatar f tn I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12! So, I took 60 mg of oxycodone and 40 mg of methadone, plus 1 mg of Ativan - all at once, instead of breaking doses up over the day. I slept great for the first time since the wreck - March 25, 2015! I even felt better today, and took nothing but my methadone and Ativan, until late in the afternoon. But, some people say I might not have woken up.
572195 tn?1217134863 i feel almost guilty for not taking them with him after all we took hydros all the time together, i had never heard of methadone and was to afraid to try it! my friend died and im still taking hydros, im selfish and stupid, and i want and need to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well thats my story i wish it were a nightmare but its reality and it sux!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar m tn If you have been taking the combination together for a long time there is no risk of overdose. The problem with certain drugs is that they reduce the ability of the body to metabolize the drug, usually by oxidation but in some cases by reduction. This, initially the drug does not completely metabolize and has an extended half-life. This why it is dangerous to take grapefruit juice with certain medications. Follow me on this.
Avatar m tn As your husband is opiate tolerant, there is very little danger of overdose. When switching from one pain medication to another, there can be periods of overlap. The 30mg of methadone may not be sufficient, but because methadone can build up in the system over a period of days, your doctor will want to slowly increase the methadone dose until the desired pain relief is achieved. Just follow his instructions. The addition of tramadol (Ultram) should not cause any significant side effects.
Avatar m tn I recently just lost a good friend to an accidental overdose of methadone/xanax/klonopin, this person had been taking methadone for many years due to a major car accident. Just want to remind those out there that are mixing opiates and benzo's just how fine that line is between your high or dying. My buddy had just had twin boys 8 days before his OD, I feel so bad for his girlfriend and family.
Avatar n tn Masochism If you do not want to suffer from any of the above side effects do not start methadone treatment. Those are just a few of the symptoms you will experience. I could be more comprehensive but if you have questions I will be glad to answer. My suggestion is that if you suffer from both Add/narcolepsy and chronic pain go with an oc meds or try a Thebiane based opiod/opiate that is drugs like oxycontin, hydrocodone or Bupenorphine.
Avatar f tn I thought naltrxone just blocked the effects of opiates not help with the cravings. Please if I'm wrong someone correct me.Keep goin 17days is awsome u r my hero.
Avatar f tn Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. A tramadol overdose can be fatal. Overdose symptoms of a tramadol overdose may include drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma. Tramadol may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for.
Avatar f tn There are times when Methadone is a life saver and i have a feeling this is one of those times. Dont let anyone rain on your parade. You are oxy and heroin free. Keep doing what you are doing. Congrats on 210 days!!!!
Avatar m tn If you are still worried, I would look up the half life of 30 mg of methadone. To my knowledge Methadone is stronger longer acting than Oxycodone. Since you were not on it long that is the way I would decide.
Avatar m tn So I end up having to get other pills off the street to cope during this time, usually percs, or lortab. But what I have noticed is, methadone blocks the effects of other drugs until it is fully out of your system,(3-5 days). Is this normal, or just in my mind? I have even gone out drinking and the alcohol doesnt have any effect one me, due to the methadone! IS there any dryg that methadone doesnt block like this?
601038 tn?1240252893 Rodriguez, 52, father of a 3-year-old and 12-year-old, was arrested on charges of trafficking in oxycodone and delivery of methadone, Soma and Xanax. He remains in jail in lieu of $2.7million bail. Although he has not been charged in connection with any patient deaths, Lake Worth police are investigating one case. Detectives did not return a phone call Friday.
Avatar n tn they had to give him 3 shots of morphine at the hospital to get him calmed down he was in so much pain....is there any long term side effects that might come up because of this....if there is a site to go to please send me the site....one other question...could this have killed or hurt him seriously.....
Avatar f tn I have lost some of my best friends because of the combination of drugs that you speak of. They died! Please be careful with Methadone and other drugs. I took 135mgs of Methadone for about a year. My counselor expressed the dangers of benzos and done, I didn;t listen really until I seen my best buddy laying in a casket. FOR REAL.
Avatar m tn t always believe what the doctors and clinics tell you about it.I was on methadone for over a year.I went cold turkey off of 25 mgs 9 months ago.
Avatar f tn hey tj, i was also on methadone, but i spent years on and off of methadone and suboxone, i have detoxed every way possible, i also had concernes with pain returning after detox, and i am a parent, so i can definantly relate to your struggle, i consider myself a taper master, lol, not really but i have done it so many times myself and i spent a year working the detox med counter in a rehab, the biggest obstacle for those doing an at home taper is the return to use, detoxing off any opiate takes a
Avatar n tn i was at 4mgs of klonopin a day and 4 mgs of lorazepam a night. now im down to 1.5 mgs of clonazepama dn 23mgs of lorazepam. i dont ever have any problems with the two but i personally know ppl who have died from benzo and methadone combos.
Avatar n tn The only difference is that methadone is a full agonist and your dose can go up higher and higher. After about 50 mgs of methadone it blocks, like suboxone, the effects of other opaites so it defers abuse of other opiates.
Avatar m tn If we knew what type of drugs and how much he was taking PRIOR to the methadone we may be able to give you an educated guess. The fact is though the dosage amount of the methadone is not really the issue here. The fact that your son is still very much in active addiction and playing a deadly game with some fatal combinations is the real issue. You can't blame his behavior on the methadone, thats not what is doing this.
603838 tn?1238534975 Hi all. One of my best friends has been taking heavy painkillers to manage pain due to disk surgery and partial replacement. They have been switching between things as heavy as morphine and methadone. They found her thanksgiving day not breathing with foam coming out of her mouth and nose. She was in respiratory arrest and flown to a better hospital in the neighboring state.
Avatar f tn My doctor and i combat tolerance by simply switching medications as i become tolerant. An example of this would be switching from oxycontin to methadone for a few months, or from methadone to mscontin, etc. The only trick to this is to make sure the correct dosages are prescribed via a reputable conversion chart. I would simply talk with your doctor about prescibing 3 tablets of your long acting medication (oxycontin in your case). If your doctor isn't willing to do that then ask (nicely!
