7163794 tn?1457366813 myself to get up? Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use? Could it just be me? Has anyone else felt this?
Avatar m tn The transition method seems valid, though I don't recommend long term methadone use. Methadone is actually that much stronger and long lasting 30mgs will cover 160mgs of oxy. If your husband is an alcoholic, he is an addict, with enough time, his new drug of choice could become opiates, which is worse in my mind, the the consequences are the same though. The detox from methadone is about 90 days on average, it's 2-4 weeks for oxy, so it really depends on what his long term goals are.
Avatar f tn Terrible long term side effects, mental and phycical. My Dr.is convinced there is no long term effects , he is wrong and has no clue. Has there been any new information on stoping suboxone use. It is taking a toll on my mental and pysical heath??? pcacake.
Avatar f tn s admitted that some of them cause him to haullucinate. I worried about the long term effects to his brain when we do get him off these.
Avatar f tn What are some possible long term effects of crushing up and snorting adderall mixed with norco?
434196 tn?1206385870 It stopped working and the amount of other pain meds I need to take is crazy. I can take my 160 mg of methadone plus 120mg of morphine and get no extra pain relief, Its crazy, stay off the Methadone, its really bad and stops working long term. Good pain docs know they have to change the meds after 6 months. But its a hard work and they (the docs) dont like the extra work. Just like they dont like calling you on the phone, Im ready to go to mexico and pay a doctor there to take care of me!
Avatar f tn its nothing like methadone...yes people CHOOSE long term treatment or short term detox...but that doesnt mean its like methadone, and its NOT a replacement drug either.. i transitioned off methadone onto suboxone...i couldnt take the withdrawals from the dones... heres the difference... This is an important concept, it is why Buprenorphine is so unique as a treatment medication. An agonist is a drug that activates certain receptors in the brain.

Avatar m tn I have never taken over the prescribed 150 mg of Effexor, but am curious about the effects you're having at 300mg?
Avatar m tn does anyone at ALL feel frustrated, used, mislead, and just angered that the (your doc/methadone people)did not at least warn YU of the possible head/brain issues with long term methadone use? When i did some research, i found that this was known in 2001!!!!! not just 2012!!!! Probably before 2001. in the U.K they were dispensing methadone much earlier than North America. I am in Ontario Canada. Blaming them or anyone for my addiction i am not!! Is not a reasonable expectation that the C.O.P.S.
Avatar f tn Actually there are several very good articles on the use of methadone for long term treatment of chronic pain. It is beleived to be the narcotic least apt to be abused and has the least side effects. I'm sorry I forgot the author (a respected PM Physician) of the best and most informative article but maybe someone here will remember. I found it by goggling it. Dosage may have to be increased in time but again they beleive not as often as other opiates.
Avatar f tn I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12! So, I took 60 mg of oxycodone and 40 mg of methadone, plus 1 mg of Ativan - all at once, instead of breaking doses up over the day. I slept great for the first time since the wreck - March 25, 2015! I even felt better today, and took nothing but my methadone and Ativan, until late in the afternoon. But, some people say I might not have woken up.
Avatar f tn I think one of the issues with using methadone and really any opioid at this point is accessibility for the long term. No longer is it shined upon to use any opioid long term. Pain clinics and whatnot make it harder and harder. It's unfortunate because chronic pain is real. The down side too is propensity for addiction. And tolerance being built up and need for higher doses as you are on it to get the same relief as the lower dose you started on.
Avatar f tn Methadone and methadose are the same medication. Methadose (40 mg and above) comes in wafers/tablets that can be broken in halves or quarters to reach the required dosage and can be dissolved in water before taking if needed. Methadone tablets/liquid are taken whole.
Avatar n tn When methadone is taken under medical supervision, long-term maintenance causes no adverse effects to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, blood, brain, or other vital body organs. Methadone produces no serious side effects, although some patients experience minor symptoms such as constipation, water retention, drowsiness, skin rash, excessive sweating, and changes in libido. Once methadone dosage is adjusted and stabilized or tolerance increases, these symptoms usually subside.
942290 tn?1252618549 s something that someone with long term chronic pain issues will HAVE to take for the rest of their lives...and if so... will they have to be on Methadone for eternity.. and does it require an increasing dose due to tolerance?
Avatar m tn i want to know the side effects of saboxone, long n short term. ive been taken 1 to 2 saboxone a day. im not even into pills but when i tried it, i like the feeling. and i want to know the side effects, i heard memory loss was one? i took 2 **** tests on it and i passed. if anyone knows for sure please let me know, thank you.
Avatar m tn t want to hear of long term solutions. I just wanted my life back, and quickly. But, I tried cold turkey and everything else until I came to see I wasn't getting anyplace. I take my hat off to those that have done it this way, but it isn't for most. Take it slow and steady, easy does it and you'll get there. Don't worry about what others are doing, just concentrate on yourself. On Monday I go on to 4 of the liquid. I still have hard days, but it doesn't last long now.
Avatar f tn Long term Sub and methadone are reffered to as "harm reduction" or replacement therapies" If you can't make it now without something I think lower dose methadone would be better . It's works better for cravings or drug hunger for hrad core addicts and in the case of an emergency it's easier for the medical people to deal with.
