A week ago my doctor gave me doxycycline hydrate to fight off an infection that is causing me to have a itchy urethra. My doctor did not do a swap test or anything but thought i had a bacterial infection. Present day ( a week of the medication) I still feel the itchiness and am thinking that I have a yeast infection. I've heard eating yogurt can help fight it, but what about dairy free yogurt? Would eating one container of dairy free yogurt help?
I saw my urologist today and he told me he thought it was a yeast infection (from the antibiotics) and prescribed me some anti-fungal / steroid cream. I've made an appt. to see a dermatologist on monday just to be sure. Essentially, I'm just wondering whether the symptoms sound like a yeast infection, or what the possibility is that it could be something else (like herpes? Could that manifest 6 1/2 months later? Would there be pain if it was herpes and not a yeast infection?).
I took an std test for chlamydia and gonnorea and they both came back negative but the doctor gave diflucan thinking it might be a yeast infection. It worked for about a week and then the burning came back. The doctor then gave me doxycycline( 10 days 2 pills easch day) and said that this should work. It works a little but he said it might take a week and its been six days. I have a couple of questions.

t mention in the herpes forum. You might have an oral yeast infection triggered by the doxycycline. Stop taking it immediately and see the doc who prescribed it.
Along with doxycycline I was out on imiquimod but I stopped yesterday because I felt as tho it was the problem along with I felt like I am gettin a male yeast infection so now I started putting lotrimin on my penis head and under and on that rash but the rash just burns. Also I am circumcised and the guy I got that oral from had no lesions on his mouth.

1: does this sound like genital herpes?
My penus feels irtiated on my head of my penis and inside or something that is why I was leading to it possibly being that yeast infection. If it was that how long would it take to clear up, this long ?? I am going to go get checked tomorrow for STD's as a precautionary but was just wondering if there is something else it may be like the yeast infection or an inside infection.

Vance, thanks for your help. Would the flagyl treatment not have cured trich and BV if I did infact have them? My doctor said chlamydia would be impossible as no known strain of chlamydia is resistant to both azithromycin AND doxycycline. Why won't this go away! :( I was kinda hoping it was just a yeast infection after all the antibiotics I've taken, but it doesn't usually cause green discharge? I am at my wits end I just want it to go away!
I was treated with ceftriaxone and Doxycycline but my wife was only treated with 100mg of Doxycycline twice a day for 7 days. She was not diagnosed. Is it possible that Doxycycline will cure Gonorrhea on its own. She felt some burning in her urethra but only after treatment. Her Dr. thought it may be just a yeast infection from strong antibiotics. What are the chances her complete uranylisis will show that she is negative for Gonorrhea?
He said that while I probably did have a Non-gonococcal urethritis the antibiotic doxycycline hyclate made conditions favorable for a yeast infection. Raging yeast infection! Well i took the doxycycline for 5 days before my ex fiance wanted to come back. We were together sexually on the 19th. No oral. (The gonorrhea and chlamydia test came back negative....vaginally) im scared to death it could still be in my throat. I gave him oral on the 20th. There are some black and reddish rashes and burning sensation for 1 month! It is not a yeast infection. And the doxycycline is not going to do anything for you at taking it that way. We do not advise on self-medicating. You should wait for planned parenthood or get to a doctor. Treating what you have with the wrong antibiotics can cause it to be resistant and then you may have a more difficult time curing it.
Welcome to the Forum. Your risk for any STD from receipt of oral sex is low and having taken azithromycin would have likely prevented any infection you might have been exposed to. Your wife's yeast infection is not a manifestation of an STD, just a combination of bad luck and the fact that taking medications like azithromycin increases the risk for getting a yeast infection.
I would not worry.
I actually just called the health department and the nurse said that if i were to come in now it would still test positive but she said it sounds like a yeast infection so she told me to go get stuff for a yeast and if after my treatment is done and it still comes back then I should come in and get checked again
the excretion disappeared and after several months the yeast infection was also resolved. However the yeast infection hs bee returniong from time to time. I have been back to my doc several times i have been tested for HIV, herpes, syphyllis all clean. However over the last few months my limph nodes in my groin area is very tender been back to the doc yesterday again did full blood count and other blood test agin to look for infection these blood test indicated every thing fine.

It’s May 4 now and I am experiencing constant itching, excessive discharge, and burning when I urinate. I don’t have a yeast infection, uti and I tested negative for all the stis that they test for on a standard screening. I have been itching for about 2-3 weeks now like this. Is there a possibility this is herpes?
