It gave me a really bad reaction, severe anxiety, agitation, depersonalization, etc... My doctor said those side effects are rare but not too uncommon with this genre of drugs. The thing is it has been a week since I've taken it and it appears my vision has gotten some effects of static, snowy, like tiny particles jumping around. I don't use any drugs. The last time I smoke marijuana was over 10 years ago due to side effects I had.
I don't know if these are symptoms of a condition or side effects of some of my meds, so can someone help?
I take Norvasc, Altace, Lexapro, Crestor, AndroGel, Doxycycline Hyclate, and Advair 250/50. I have been on the first 4 for years. The last 3 have been added within the last several months. I also have Severe Sleep Apnea, but I use my APAP religiously. AHI is usually <4, but will on ocassion sneak up to 5.
My question is, would the increase in acid reflux and stomach pain be a likely side effect of the doxycycline. I know doxycycline can cause acid reflux or stomach pain right after you take it, but could it cause it many hours later? What about the itchy bumps on my arm? I know doxycycline can make your skin sensitive to light, so might that be a skin reaction caused by it?
But the insomnia was miserable so I called my doctor to ask if there was anything I could do for the side effects, so he switched me to 3 wks of doxycycline, which I started taking immediately. Now I sleep OK but after two days the symptoms are back in full force. I'm wondering if I made a mistake in switching. Have others had similar experiences? Is doxy just slower to take effect?
d a short term course of of an anti-anxiety med, like Xanax or Ativan, to help with the side effects. That may make a world of difference for you.
Definitely don't just stop taking the Lexapro without first discussing all of this with your doctor. You both may decide that the side effects are just too much, or your starting dose may have been a little on the high side. A typical starting dose would be 10mg, for some people sensitive to meds, they can even start out at 5mg.
Benzos like this can cause withdrawals when they are stopped suddenly. How often do you take it on an 'as needed' basis? Have you talked with your prescribing doctor about potential side effects? The good thing is you got checked out and you are ok medically. When I came off of certain benzos I had to come off of them very slowly to reduce side effects. Also, could you be under some more stress these past couple of months?
When I did my full STD bloodtest, it came back with HSV1 positive. Anxiety can cause all these symptoms? It's hard for me to accept the fact that my mind is creating all these symptoms. I forgot to mention that I was on Ciprofloxacin for 2 weeks & then Doxycycline for another 2 weeks because my testicular pain was not going away with the Cipro. Can being on antibiotics for that long cause some or all of these symptoms even after I've been off of it for about a month?
I woke up this morning worried about side effects and felt like my heart was racing and going to beat out of my chest. I took 2 xanax (which I've been taking for years) and feel like I'm calming down, but I'm worried this racing heart is a side effect or if it's just my anxiety of taking the new medication. I want to get my life back but I think I'm afraid even this won't work. Would appreciate any advice or feedback.
