I’m a 22 y/o girl who went to the docs today and she said what I have on my perineum looks a lot like a strep infection. It hasn’t effected my vagina and I haven’t had any discharge or pain. She said it does not look like Herepres or typical warts. I am on a course of doxycycline. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar strep infection in the vaginal region. NO I’m not pregnant or anything by the way. I got swabbed and now I have to wait a week.
The throat pain was not agonizing, and rather irritating. If strep were an 8-9/10, this was a 4-5/10. I went to an urgent care on 12/23, but didn't disclose the encounter. They did a strep swab, which was negative. The doctor gave me Doxycycline 100mg 2x/day for 10 days.
Taking the Doxy I noticed my symptoms improved, however after a while my throat symptoms were not getting much better and seemed to stagnate.
On 1/2 I saw my primary doctor and told her about the encounter.
I've tried to do a lot of searching before asking, but can't pin this down.
I had not had any type of sexual contact for 8 months. Then, the week before Christmas, I had anal sex with a guy I didn't know when the condom broke. I was the top and he said we should just continue -- he said "I'm clean..." I now say "I'm stupid..." I have not had sex with anyone since. I will not ever have unprotected sex again!

They checked for strep, gonorrhea and nongonococcal causes of the pharyngitis, however, because I had self medicated with antibiotics, a urethral culture was not done. The strep test was negative & throat labs came back negative. I was prescribed cefixime and doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 7 days. The pharyngitis was actually resolving itself by the next day before I had even started antibiotics, however I proceeded to take the prescribed antibiotics.
Went to the dr in late November for strep throat and a sinus infection, tested negative for strep but I have cobblestone throat and my left tonsil is inflamed. My doctor said I have some pus behind It & I have a small hole on my tonsil as well. My throat does not hurt and I no longer have any symptoms. I have taken both azthromycin and doxycycline. My throat still looks the same. My doctor has said just to keep an eye on it. Should I just go ahead and go to an ENT?
He felt we were drawing at straws but prescibed a 7day treatment of doxycycline. I am 3 days in and starting to feel SOME relief but not 100%. I've been going round and round with this for 10 months now; is this typical of strep prostatitis? Do you think the uroxatral and advodart are an over kill? The ultrasound of my prostate looked back to somewhat normal other than some calium deposits, which he said were a result of prostatitis.
I have been taking Doxycycline for over 2 years. I am also on birth control Minastrin 24 Fe. Since I have taken the antibiotic for two years due to having Hidrentis Suppurtiva, will my birth control be as effective as it says it will be? Or will it be less effective? Should I stop taking my Doxycycline because I haven't had a flare up in over a year?
STILL i had discharge and stuff that wasnt all right yet so i see my doctor on the day of my last dose for flagyl and i take another urine test and she said she found strep in my urine and she prescribed me this amoxcicillin. I just started the medication today so i can let you know if it clears it up or not!!
The nurse thought that I had Chlamydia and had me take Doxycycline for 7 days. The burning went away within a few days and I continued the course of Doxycycline. When I called two weeks later for my results, I was negative for chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea.
The burning returned later that week which was 4 weeks after sex. I went to my doctor and she did a urine analysis. I called yesterday and they said that nothing had grown in the culture so I didn't have any UTIs.
Got tested and was positive for chlamydia. I got treated and was put on doxycycline. Got re-tested and I am cured of it but the symptoms never went away. I've been the urologist and he says he found strep in my semen and he wanted to treat me for it.

The red sore started bleeding a bit, like what happens when you pop a pimple, and went away in around 4 to 5 days but these white, painless, tiny / pinpoint spots started appearing on the corona of my penis in two rows. They haven't changed in size and numbers after around 3-4 days, and it's now a week since the initial discovery of the sore.
Then I retested 5 days after being off doxycycline. Tests were still negative. I’m still having the symptoms. Had a CBC done and WBC was 5.5 in normal range. My Questions are below:
1. Are these urine tests for gonorrhea etc accurate after being off doxycycline for 5 days?
2. What else could my symptoms be from?

My blood tests 14 days post exposure (after rocephin,azithro,doxy, but before penicillin) showed a 1:2 titre but no confirmation on the follow up test. I had a test a week later at the health clinic that showed no RPR or confirmation. I have a follow up with an internal medicine doctor on Tuesday to wrap all this up and I feel confident the infection is gone.
I need some clarity ... for the last 3 months I've come down with strep, pneumonia and acute pharyngitis. About a week ago I went down on my boyfriend n he ended up gettin burning when urinating n penile discharge he went to his dr stated that he has chlamydia. I had recently on the 11 of july had my annual, pap and everthing normal for me.
I'm a 54 year old male and have had similar experience with both doxycycline and cipro. The first time I had a prostititis attack cipro didn't work and doxycycline helped me after 2 full weeks. 18 months later I'm having another bout, this time its the other way around - Doxycycline didn't help and cipro seems to be working after 2 weeks.
Are you taking Flomax too? My prostititis problems seemed to start when I went on Flomax.
The doc then said it was just bacterial infection of the foreskin due to poor hygiene and gave me 100 mg doxycycline twice per day for 7 days, and topical chloramphenicol. After the first dose of cream and doxycycline the lump somehow burst, and there was some bleeding and a little bit of whitish pus in the next morning. The bleeding subsided quickly, typical of mucosal lesions, and the lump (now flat) kinda looked like a flaccid, drained blister but remained red.
Thus, what you most likely have is a viral sore throat or at worst, strep throat. If it is strep throat and it could well be you need treatment. Thus I would suggest that if it si not clearly viral and has lasted more than a day or two, you get checked but that you not worry about gonorrhea.
Based on what I've just said, it also follows that I can assure you that your GF is not at risk,

I forgot to mention DID have a fever (and my glans penis became slightly redder) and the doctor diagnosed me with both Strep throat and Mono, but strep throat goes away in 3 to 7 days without treatment, and probably even more quickly with treatment. I KNOW FOR A FACT I had strep throat AND a virus. Thanks to my negative mono test, my anxiety soared and I began to think it was HIV.
I then went to get tested and came back positive for Gonorrhoeae, negative for Chlamydia. I was given a shot, 4 pills and then prescribed 10 days of Doxycycline. My symptoms cleared up the next day. I have been reading on your forum about resistance to fluoroquines (Leviquin). Does Leviquin still work for gonorrhoeae? We live in Florida. Could my wife get gonorrhoeae from vaginal sex 1 day after I had a risky encounter?

So I went in to the doctor yesterday, and was prescribed doxycycline. The doctor told me he thinks its bacterial. IS there anything else other than hand/foot/mouth that can cause painful white sores all over the whole mouth (gums, tongue, roof of mouth, back of tongue)? He also told me he wouldn't test me until next week, after the doxy.
