Hi, I am really really concerned about a burn scar which I have on my left hand. I burned my hand with hot wax in a little area about a size of a quarter about 6 months ago. Now I have a white scar on that area. I've been to a dermatologist and they prescribed me Dovonex and Vectical ointment. I've been using Dovonex and now I'm using Vectical. The dermatologist told me I should keep putting the ointment on before I think of doing something else.
Ive been using nizoral shampoo every other day on the infected area and for the first 2 weeks was using lamisil or canensten cream (anitfungal). However the last doctor i went to prescribed me DOVONEX (calciptotriol). Ive done some research on what it is, and there is no link between Psoriasis(which is what dovonex is used for) and Pytriaisis Versicolor or even Tinea Versicolor, or any other fungal infections for that matter.
I have a sore on my tongue that's been there awhile. The ear nose & throat doctor said it is irritation & hard to heal. I'm taking Lysine tablets 500 mg 3xs daily. Just started .I have seen L-Lysine ointment by basic organics. People use it for core sores & ulcers on the inside of lip. Would it be safe to dab a small amount on my tongue to help battle this condition faster. It is painful & very frustrating.
I do have cirrhosis and have not noticed any effects. As with most psoriasis meds it tends to become ineffective after continual use.

Long-term Safety of Topical Calcineurin Inhibitors Has Not Been Established
Although a causal relationship has not been established, rare cases of malignancy (e.g., skin and lymphoma) have been reported in patients treated with topical calcineurin inhibitors, including ELIDEL Cream.
1% is used to treat the inflammation caused by a number of conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. The common side effects of this ointment are acne, thinning skin ,burning, itching, dryness, inflammation of hair follicles, excessive growth of hair, acne-like eruptions, diminished skin pigmentation, dermatitis around the mouth, allergic contact dermatitis, softening of the skin, secondary infections, skin atrophy, stretch marks and prickly heat.
I was prescribed Mupirocin for a non-healing nasal ulcer. I used it for about 2 days then woke up with a bad headache today from the get go. I've tried everything I can. I have taken Tylenol TWICE, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in it, nasal spray, a Breathe Right nasal strip (since I do have severe sinus problems.) NOTHING has worked or given any relief.
Well, the decision for use of the ointment on sensitive regions such as the penile skin and the duration of the therapy is best decided by your treating dermatologist since the ointment does not come free of side effects either. Though the medication can be used safely in most cases for a few days/ weeks, usually the benefits/ indication of prescribing the medication should exceed the risks associated.
I have since learned that there are serious side effects associated with topical steroid use around the eyes and eyelids, including cataracts and glaucoma. Without understanding the risks, I applied the Locoid to my child's eye area and eyelids daily for one week. I stopped immediately upon learning of the danger. I am now very worried that I may have caused permanent damage to her eyes.
Not so sure about tacrolimus. Look at the law offices looking for people treated with tacrolimus creams. Still some concern out there about serious side effects. Don't forsee approval anytime soon in U.S.
As a side note, have your doctor look for demodex follicularis. Some research indicates that they can worsen lid margin disease.
I just finished Incivek, so I have a little chance that some side effects will go away. My doctor thinks that its reaction for Interferon and Ribavirin.
No doubt I will everything what can help me continue with a treatment.
If after all I would suppose to stop my treatment, does anyone knows if virus can come back?
The effects/ side effects would be the same if used on a normal skin, though these would be beneficial in dermatitis. If there are no apparent symptoms such as discolouration or dysuria a reaction is unlikely. Two weeks use of the ointment is unlikely to result in serious long term effects.

We are curious if this could be a side effect from the ointment they put in his eyes (Puralube Veterinary Opthalmic Ointment) or whether this could happen if they neglected to put the ointment in at all, or whether we need to look for some other cause. I should point out that trips to the vet are very stressful and involve lots of drooling, voiding both #1 and #2, etc. Has anyone ever seen symptoms like this?
It’s also important to use the right size condom otherwise the benzocaine may spill over and one’s partner may have to face the brunt of the side effects which can be really troublesome. Please don’t worry the effects don’t last that long and you should be okay. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
What are some side effects of Cipro. I was on cipro for a month and it was terrible. My face felt flushed, burning sensation on my back. When I was almost done with it, I started to get this wierd ache feeling in my butt that still exist today. Anybody expirenced this whil and after cipro antibiotics?
