Hi, I am really really concerned about a burn scar which I have on my left hand. I burned my hand with hot wax in a little area about a size of a quarter about 6 months ago. Now I have a white scar on that area. I've been to a dermatologist and they prescribed me Dovonex and Vectical ointment. I've been using Dovonex and now I'm using Vectical. The dermatologist told me I should keep putting the ointment on before I think of doing something else.
I have been switched to Dovonex for the treatment of psoriasis, but experienced achey joints and hormonal fluctuations after prolonged use of Desonide (0.05%). I was wondering if this is just a coincidence (that I am just naturally predisposed to having thyroid problems) or if I misused the ointment.
Ive been using nizoral shampoo every other day on the infected area and for the first 2 weeks was using lamisil or canensten cream (anitfungal). However the last doctor i went to prescribed me DOVONEX (calciptotriol). Ive done some research on what it is, and there is no link between Psoriasis(which is what dovonex is used for) and Pytriaisis Versicolor or even Tinea Versicolor, or any other fungal infections for that matter.
Have you tried Dovonex, a vitamin D3 derivitive, on your elbows? Might be stronger than Elidel on that part of the body. Ointment is stronger than cream. Just be careful not to get it on your face so best to wear long sleeves after applying so you won't accidently touch.Also, as mentioned, Protopic -- very similar to Elidel -- is a bit stronger and sometimes works better than Elidel.

This is the second time I have had this problem. Both times, I used a generic baby wipe, and I think I could have been a reaction to it. I normally use huggies
baby wipes for cleanliness, and have had no problems with it. Maybe some of your readers had a similar experience, and wanted to share what happened to me. Hope this will help.
Problem is i started getting patches of raised bumps , like pimples and they itch , never had this before now .. I read you should not use zovirax ointment on the inside vaginal are , what do I do , My Doctor evidently does not give directions well or is this not the case, iam scared been withmy husband 16yrs and never had any problems and all of a sudden I have raised bumps all over ... She gave me valtrex and I had a svere allergic reaction to it. Migrains , skin rash and sore throat.
I recently tested positive for HSV2. Doc put me on Generic Valtrex for supressive therapy. I took 500mg once a day for about a week. The sore from OB has never been so bad or lasted so long. 6 days ago I started 500mg twice a day and still no relief. Could I be immune to the Valtrex? How long should it take to get relief? Awaiting call back from Doc but holidays and all...
s true that different manufacturers use different fillers (these are used by both brand and generic manufacturers) and some people are sensitive to them. Often, switching brands or from generic to a brand name or brand name to generic can make a world of difference.
You can take your meds any time that works best for you. The rule of thumb, though, is also that you should not have had anything to eat or drink for 3-4 hours prior to taking meds, i.e. your stomach is empty.
There are over the counter mouth moisturizers that work, not 100% but I find them helpful to reduce dryness of the mouth and throat from breathing through the mouth. They even make toothpaste - suppose using toothpaste, rinse and ointment may add hours to the protection... I don't know I have used one othe rinse and ointment, one at at time.
If I have apnea it hasn't been diagnosed, so I have no idea what a CPAP is or how it helps.
Although this type of skin problem is very difficult to treat, but you can try Elidel cream or Protropic ointment on these hypopigmented areas. But use them after a dermatologist’s guidance. If the symptoms still persist then you can talk to your dermatologist about laser-assisted chemabrasion(LACA).It has provided excellent results in such hypopigmentation.

As with the first occurrence, the bumps are disappearing after using antibiotic ointment, hydrocortisone, and allergy meds (generic Claritin). I have also washed & used my running shoes once since then with no worsening of the bumps. Will keep you updated...
I have a sore on my tongue that's been there awhile. The ear nose & throat doctor said it is irritation & hard to heal. I'm taking Lysine tablets 500 mg 3xs daily. Just started .I have seen L-Lysine ointment by basic organics. People use it for core sores & ulcers on the inside of lip. Would it be safe to dab a small amount on my tongue to help battle this condition faster. It is painful & very frustrating.
My dog has weepy eyes again & we have a tube of otocomb*otic ointment that I'm pretty sure we used last time.
Does that sound right? I want to make sure they it'd the right tube.
Hello, my six month old son was born with ILVEN. It starts on the back of his shoulder and goes down his arm to the crease of his arm. We have been going to a pediatric dermatologist since we first noticed it. They did a biopsy and it came back as ILVEN. His dermatologist prescribed dovonex and a steroid cream I apply twice daily. I have been doing this for 3 months now and I don't see any change at all. Our next appointment is in another 3 months to check it.
Wife did in Perth and the guy was totally inept and overpriced- toss a battery of tests at her, generic treatments with terrible handwriting and no explanations and no positive results or positive outcomes. Better to see a GP with skin specialisation. In Japan, she had very little wait and the doctor gave her a cream that worked immediately. We get mouse spiders in Australia which are poisonous and mobile also funnel webs which in the ground and redbacks which are mostly in hollows.
There are medications that can help alleviate the burning/pain. One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain.
If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain.
Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
