Avatar n tn Hello, my six month old son was born with ILVEN. It starts on the back of his shoulder and goes down his arm to the crease of his arm. We have been going to a pediatric dermatologist since we first noticed it. They did a biopsy and it came back as ILVEN. His dermatologist prescribed dovonex and a steroid cream I apply twice daily. I have been doing this for 3 months now and I don't see any change at all. Our next appointment is in another 3 months to check it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am really really concerned about a burn scar which I have on my left hand. I burned my hand with hot wax in a little area about a size of a quarter about 6 months ago. Now I have a white scar on that area. I've been to a dermatologist and they prescribed me Dovonex and Vectical ointment. I've been using Dovonex and now I'm using Vectical. The dermatologist told me I should keep putting the ointment on before I think of doing something else.
Avatar f tn Apart from that, topical medications like emollients, creams containing coal tar, dithranol (anthralin), corticosteroids like desoximetasone (Topicort), fluocinonide, vitamin D3 analogues (for example, calcipotriol), and retinoids have been routinely used. Phototherapy containing UV A has also been employed. But it is usually seen that psoriasis can become resistant to a specific therapy. Treatments may be periodically changed to prevent resistance developing.
Avatar f tn i have this condition for over a year and a half and i have seen 3 dermatologist that said that i have Psoriasis and gave me Clobetasol propionate ointment 0.05%, i used it for 3 weeks but it didn't help. i saw a pharmacist that said that the peels in my skin are too soft to be a Psoriasis and diagnose my condition as an Eczema and gave me a Mometasone (furoate): Ointment/Cream 1mg/g (0.1%). this didn't help either please help me..

Avatar f tn I have been switched to Dovonex for the treatment of psoriasis, but experienced achey joints and hormonal fluctuations after prolonged use of Desonide (0.05%). I was wondering if this is just a coincidence (that I am just naturally predisposed to having thyroid problems) or if I misused the ointment.

Avatar n tn Ive been using nizoral shampoo every other day on the infected area and for the first 2 weeks was using lamisil or canensten cream (anitfungal). However the last doctor i went to prescribed me DOVONEX (calciptotriol). Ive done some research on what it is, and there is no link between Psoriasis(which is what dovonex is used for) and Pytriaisis Versicolor or even Tinea Versicolor, or any other fungal infections for that matter.

Avatar n tn Itchy rash is particularly noticeable on face and scalp, neck, inside of elbows, behind knees, and buttocks.Treatment is with a Corticosteroid ointment which will reduce the inflammation. But with your history of Psoriasis, it would likely be an extension of that. These measures area must to reduce the recurrence rate. There are many treatments available but because of its chronic recurrent nature psoriasis is a challenge to treat.
Avatar m tn It is often considered to be a variant of pustular psoriasis and classified as a seperate entity.Steroids, external calcipotriol are some of treatment modalities. Do consult your doc.Best wishes.

Avatar n tn Medicated creams and ointments applied directly to psoriatic plaques can help reduce inflammation, remove built-up scale, reduce skin turn over, and clear affected skin of plaques. Avatar n tn My psoriasis lasted aorund 10 days on the genitals. Of course it did not go away without me putting Dovonex on it. Dovonex is not exactly highly recommended for the genital area but it cleared mine right up. I have also got those painless type lesions that crust over and go away within 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn Have you tried Dovonex, a vitamin D3 derivitive, on your elbows? Might be stronger than Elidel on that part of the body. Ointment is stronger than cream. Just be careful not to get it on your face so best to wear long sleeves after applying so you won't accidently touch. Also, as mentioned, Protopic -- very similar to Elidel -- is a bit stronger and sometimes works better than Elidel.

Avatar m tn Topical therapy for psoriasis includes corticosteroids, tazarotene, anthralin, calcipotriol/calcipotriene and tars; some medicated shampoos are quite effective for treating scalp psoriasis against prescription. UV therapy is also useful. Besides these treatment options, regular exercises, nutritious diet and relaxation techniques will help to relieve stress and improve health, and contribute a lot in treating psoriasis. I suggest you to consult dermatologist. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn so... what am i doing? pursuing corticosteroids and calcipotriol? or maybe try just calcipotriol on its own to begin with?
