Diflucan to treat ringworm

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan to treat ringworm

diflucan

Avatar n tn m worried that what I have is not ringworm at all, but then again, it did respond somewhat to the Fluconazole.
Avatar n tn My dermatologist prescribed Diflucan, to be taken once a week for 3 weeks. I am hesitant to take it but I am scared of dealing with the reoccurance of the ringworm. I am worried the medication I took may have caused damage to my heart and or liver. Should I be worried about heart failure? If they are damaged, will they heal themselves (recover). What should I do? I have scheduled an appointment with a new doctor, but the appointment is not until the 22nd.
Avatar f tn Ringworm is a fungal infection, so I would imagine if you have it in one area, you could get it in another. For ringworm on the scalp, you do need to see a doctor for medication to treat it. I'd say it's worth a trip to the doctor to verify what is going on and get a treatment plan together.
20797525 tn?1510602613 I have had candida for a little over a year now. It all started with strep throat that I required penicillin to combat. Penicillin helped but never fully eliminated the problem. I began to notice a lot of itching underneath my left arm. A few times I would put deodorant on and it would sting to high heaven. Then I noticed that classic yeast smell. I tried all types of treatments with no result, relief or answers.
Avatar m tn I went back to the doctor, he gave me diflucan, She also got diflucan. After three days on the diflucan, her symptoms were gone and mine were 90% gone. I then began to apply a diluted vinegar solution. The symptoms were gone for a few days, including the redness, but then they came back. Not as bad as before, but still there. At that point he screened for claymidia and gonnorea, and gave me the zpac. I continued diflucan and vinegar, with the sympmtoms almost, but not quite, vanishing again.
Avatar m tn So I went back to the doctor on Oct. 2nd and he gave me more diflucan and told me to buy some monistat 7, that it was a yeast infection. I noticed on Oct. 3rd about 5 small red bumps on the top side at the base of my penis in the pubic hair region that seem to be in a circle. The bumps are not big and they are not blisters but they are a little larger than just a spot. Can these be associated with yeast or have I possibly been misdiagnosed and have had herpes since September?
Avatar m tn then I wore compression socks and the ringworm has spread in around the line of the top of the sock. kinda shocking. its been very hard to treat. wondering if this is even ringworm or what because it isn't in the typical ring like circular patch, it is lining around the edge of like were the sock was in a wrapping around type fashion. IS THIS RINGWORM? this thing is making me crazy.
Avatar f tn Will this affect my pregnancy? And if I use an anti-fungal ointment to treat the ringworm will it affect anything? Its in its beginning stages so its not bad at all right now.
Avatar f tn I think I have ringworm on my hands, (I have ringworm on my stomach and thighs), how do I treat it and keep it from spreading to others? I've been putting an ointment to try to treat it and then placing gloves on my hands so I don't infect everything I touch, but it makes my hands sweat which I think is making it worse :( Any help, tips and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm losing my mind with this issue!!
Avatar f tn Hi, what your describing is not a symptom of any std but would appear as your suggesting a jock irritation.
Avatar n tn My grandson's case sounds so similar to your daughter's. We finally found success with Terbinafine after his ringworm appeared to morph into EAC (ERYTHEMA ANNULARE CENTRIFUGUM). According to his dermatologists, the EAC skin disease was, more than likely, feeding on the ringworm fungus. Treatment was based on hundreds of hours of research, and yet was still somewhat guesswork. But, it worked beautifully for him. It cleared everything up in less than 2weeks.
Avatar n tn so do i need to take another test for ease of mind since it is just rapid test not blood test....so it might be wrong...and i need to treat my infection as soon as possible if i'm INfected right??? what do you guys think???
252492 tn?1205609298 Nope, def a ringworm, I went to the doc who suggested I try to treat it with Lamisil and to return in two weeks if it had not cleared up. This is really freaking me out - every website out there says that it's common in people with weakened immune systems such as those with HIV. God. I don't want to take another test - they're ALL NEGATIVE. How can you be so sick and have sooo many negative tests? I really hate this.
Avatar f tn possibly ringworm, which byt the way isn't form a worm. go get it looked at by a doc, you don't want it spreading. and, ringworm does not always have to be a perfect circle.
Avatar n tn He now has a very big bald patch in his head followed by other small ones.my question is does in needs to treat internally to get rid of this completely with a liquid antifungal medication? what is the best liquid antifungal medication you would suggest that will work really fast an best for a child at his age..
Avatar f tn htm according to this site Tea Tree Oil is a great treatment for Ringworm. Check with your doctor to see if you can use this alone to treat your ringworm.
Avatar m tn I would have a doctor check it out ,I know u posted a photo of the effected area ,difficult to really see the patch or rash,I bet its the ringworm rash and your practitioner will treat you for that. Let us know. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Even herpes needs to be ruled out because you are sexually active. Ringworm is an itchy, contagious fungal infection that presents as circular or ring like lesion. Herpes presents with red itchy blisters which scab over. Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get an examination done to confirm the diagnosis.
525485 tn?1314361301 I know that during pregnancy, you are allowed to use Monistat or over the counter treatments similiar to monistat (store brands) to treat yeast infections, but I was wondering if there were any oral medications you can take. I know that you cant take diflucan (fluconazole ~generic for diflucan) but I was wondering if there was anything else. My doctors office is not open yet so I will be calling them when they are available, but was wondering if any of you ladies knew anything about this.
Avatar f tn You can google "cure for ringworm". Since it's fungal, there are over the counter creams that are used to treat the spots.
Avatar n tn Most cases are treated by application of topical antifungal creams to the skin, but in extensive or difficult to treat cases systemic treatment with oral medication may be required. In general ringworm responds well to topical treatment. Topical antifungals are applied to the lesion twice a day for at least 3 weeks. The lesion usually resolves within 2 weeks, but therapy should be continued for another week to insure the fungus is completely eradicated.
