diflucan

674021 tn?1295489762 My son had to take the nystatin for like 10 days before we saw any relief. I also had to apply it to my nipples as well to make sure we weren't passing the infection back and forth. Thrush can be very difficult to treat...be consistent with the medication and if after a week + you still don't see any relief, they do make diflucan in an oral suspension that babies can take. Diflucan is a stronger yeast killer.
Avatar f tn Yep sounds like thrush (yeast infection). All you need to do to treat it is to get an antifungal from the chemist. They are generally available over the counter so you don't need to go to the doctor. You can get a once only tablet (fluconazole - Diflucan) or you can use a cream or pessary such as canesten (clotrimazole). It is very common to get thrush after antibiotics as they kill off all the good bacteria and allow there to be an overgrowth of Candida (the yeast that causes thrush).
639543 tn?1297027634 He NEVER got the diaper rash that can be present with oral thrush. It is VERY difficult to treat since yeast thrives in warm, dark, moist places like a mouth. Get it checked asap so you can get it treated and under control sooner than later. Thankfully you are not breast feeding because it can pass back and forth between mom and baby making it painful for mom and even more difficult to treat. Good luck!!!!!
Avatar f tn t clear up after this 30 treatment with diflucan then he was going to refer me to an infectious diease dr.. Oh at the moment my left parodid gland is painful swelled and hard. Even hurts when I brush my teeth when I brush the side of my mouth.
Avatar f tn Your doctor should prescribe u what ever u need for the infection .
1070570 tn?1283436213 Hello! I am a 23 yr old female with hypothyroidism, CFS, chronic EBV, and chronic sinusitis. I've been feeling really badly for the past 3 months and my doctor has just decided to treat me for possible yeast overgrowth based on the recurring sinusitis, vaginal infections, white tongue, etc that I have.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics are one of the main causes of thrush and it important to take diflucan as soon as you take your last antibiotic to prevent geting thrush. But you also said you have taken diflucan many times so this may be of no help to you. Anyway you need to go back to your doctor and demand more investigation into this. what an awful time you are going through. Maybe you have become immune to diflucan? Say it to your doctor and see if there is anything else he could give you.
Avatar n tn What was your risk ? When was your last risk? Generally, if the Diflucan or Nystatin does NOT work on your thrush, it's NOT thrush. Oral thrush is fairly common in many HIV negative individuals. Thrush does NOT equal HIV. HIV can NOT be diagnosed by ANY symptoms or lack of. You need to test 3 months after your LAST possible exposure ( unprotected anal/vaginal sex, IV drug use). Antibiotics are known to worsen oral thrush.
Avatar m tn Hi and sorry you are going through all this. The Candida or thrush can be resistant to diflucan so they gave you the Nystatin which should work much better. Are you still on the Nystatin? Regarding the RMSF did they do a test to determine you were positive or did they go by symptoms? Did your fever go down within 72 hours after taking the Doxycycline? If it didn't you could have something else that has symptoms like it such as Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis.
Avatar n tn I searched for the tampon, didnt find it but found lots of white substance. I want to treat it with over the counter meds, but what if it truly is a tampon still there?
Avatar m tn Would someone please enlighten me about thrush. I was on antibiotics after an exposure(condom broke having vaginal sex). I was taking 2 types of antibiotics and then after 6 days my tongue started turning white. I stopped taking antibiotics nearly 2 weeka ago now but my tongue is still white, so my question is does thrush from antibiotics go away on its own or you'll have to take medication for it?
1435895 tn?1304291241 Did they give u DIFLUCAN for the thrush?...I get a reaction every time I take an antibiotic and need DIFLUCAN to help avoid a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn No thrush is not one of the first symptoms you get. Thrush is not HIV specific. Anyone can get thrush at any time.
Avatar n tn 5 weeks ago I had sex with a csw, condom broke and a few days later had a night sweat and I developed a candida infection in my tongue and about 7 days later also in my penis foreskin, a few days later the candida on my penis went away but Istill have some thrush, is that possible to be ars? now I have fungus infection on my penis too and Im on diflucan but that's not working at all, is that a early hiv symptom?
Avatar n tn I immediately treated myself for thrush, having suffered previously, although the symptoms appeared more severe. When it failed to clear, I went to my doctor who examined me and prescribed more thrush treatment. After three lots of thrush treatment, I was terrified that I had an STD and went to a private clinic and was tested for several STD's as well as thrush. The results were clear.
1369218 tn?1282423884 If you can't wipe it off, it most likely isn't thrush. Especially since all the antifungals don't work. I would recommend seeing a dentist to find out what it is. Does the white patches changes in size and shape? It may be geographic tongue. Any symptoms?
Avatar f tn ) my GP prescribed me some cream used to treat yeast infections (thrush) as well as a single dose of an antibiotic that treats fungal infections but so far nothing has changed. I bathed in a salt bath yesterday but that made no difference either I've barely slept at all in 5 nights because this is so bad now, please help!!
Avatar n tn She also perscribed Diflucan since the antibiotic was strong and i tend to develop yeast infections. She told me to take the Diflucan after the 10 day antibiotic was thru. Day 2 on the antibiotic i engaged in oral sex with my boyfriend. By Day 4 i had a full blown yeast infection most likely from the combination of the oral sex and antibiotic. I took the Diflucan. Day 5 i got my period. What do i do now?? And can i re-fill my Diflucan to take when i am thru with the antibiotic??
Avatar f tn They are raised spots and cannot be wiped away. Was treated for thrush with several different medication. finally sent to ENT where they found I had chronically infected adenoids. ENT felt that the tongue was underlying reason because of the infection how ever been on antibiotics for 5 days and still have spots. Any thoughts on what else it could be?
Avatar f tn Medela makes a sort of breast shield Or nipple former that you can put on that will let your nipples air dry. You need to expose them to air as much as possible. If you have to have a bra on the nipple former will help keep your bra from touching your nipples. It also has a little sponge in it that will absorbe the milk you leak. Good luck! Thrush *****!!!
Avatar f tn So about 2 months ago I had an outbreak and learned I had general herpes. One month ago I developed oral thrush. I have taken a suspension, diflucan, and lozenge and the thrush is not improving. I was concerned there could be something larger wrong since the herpes and thrush issues started. I got a CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, mono and strep test- all results fine. My doctor wants me to go to the ENT next. I had my annual in April and hiv test was negative...
Avatar n tn I dont know if this is thrush. I have had the same problem for 3 and a half years. My tongue is white coated, i feel like i have scratches all over it. My lips even stayed constantly dry and chapped feeling for years. I still have it and have been to over 20 doctors for it. I have been checked for thrush and candida 3 or 4 times with no positive result. Once i was even checked for systymatic yeast. I have been to oral surgeons, mouth specialists and a million other doctors.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, you need a detailed evaluation. First thing need to be ruled out is oropharyngeal candidiasis or thrush. Candidiasis, it can present in many ways (white plaque, erythematous and beefy appearance). Candida is yeast which is responsible for this. But this should be confirmed by KOH preparation and microscopy which will show the candidial growth. This usually occurs in immunocompromised condition like diabetes, steroid therapy or HIV.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been recently diagnosed pre diabetic. Is it possible that this is causing a recurrent hard to treat yeast infection? I've tried Monistat and Diflucan. Neither work. It feels better at first but then it's right back with a vengeance. I've had many yeast infections over the years and never one that just wouldn't go away. Thoughts?
