Diflucan oral thrush dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan oral thrush dosage

diflucan

Avatar n tn What was your risk ? When was your last risk? Generally, if the Diflucan or Nystatin does NOT work on your thrush, it's NOT thrush. Oral thrush is fairly common in many HIV negative individuals. Thrush does NOT equal HIV. HIV can NOT be diagnosed by ANY symptoms or lack of. You need to test 3 months after your LAST possible exposure ( unprotected anal/vaginal sex, IV drug use). Antibiotics are known to worsen oral thrush.
Avatar n tn I have a white creamy film(look and feels like plaque) that grows on the inside of my mouth (both sides) According to web md, it sounds like I have oral thrush(candidas). My primary care physician treated it with Diflucan to no avail and then with nystatin, again to no avail. I then went on to see the ear, nose and throat specialist. He stuck a scope up my nostrils and stated that I did not have oral thrush. He stated that I was dehydrated??? He then prescribed me 30mg of evoxac for 90 days.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I was on nystatin for 6 weeks and then took diflucan for a week and even did an oral nystatin for 7 days. I have just been to my regular doc and wondering if a dentist would be more helpful with this. Are there any over the counter remedies I can do too? Thanks!!
674021 tn?1295489762 My son had to take the nystatin for like 10 days before we saw any relief. I also had to apply it to my nipples as well to make sure we weren't passing the infection back and forth. Thrush can be very difficult to treat...be consistent with the medication and if after a week + you still don't see any relief, they do make diflucan in an oral suspension that babies can take. Diflucan is a stronger yeast killer.
Avatar f tn So about 2 months ago I had an outbreak and learned I had general herpes. One month ago I developed oral thrush. I have taken a suspension, diflucan, and lozenge and the thrush is not improving. I was concerned there could be something larger wrong since the herpes and thrush issues started. I got a CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, mono and strep test- all results fine. My doctor wants me to go to the ENT next. I had my annual in April and hiv test was negative...
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/dental-and-oral-health/white-tongue Did the previous treatments to rid you of thrush work? If so, then it's probably the antibiotics that have caused a resurgence.
Avatar n tn I have another appointment with my doctor Monday in which I will be asking to be blood tested for all possible issues. i have been battling with Oral Thrush, diagnosed by the doctor for about 5 weeks I think now. I obviously get really scared looking at all the talk about HIV. In the past year I have only had sex with two people. One is my girlfriend for the past year and the other I was tested after. Although I do not remember if it was long enough after for a true test.

Avatar f tn Does this sound like thyroid to you and do you know why i would keep getting oral thrush? I have been treated many times with diflucan for vaginal yeast but the oral didn't devlop until after 7 months of flagyl, 2 steroid shots, ashtama inhlaer and bactrium treatment. Now it won't go away with diflucan treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi Kathlene-did you get rid of fungus?my-you have troubles.I feel chronic illness too.I am sure I suffer from fungal prob-yrs of it- i cured myself 8 yrs ago naturally when i felt deathly ill and couldnt eat without a reaction..but now I eat like normal people do-and I suffer for it.I cant get a dx of it-as its a normal thing to have apparently unless it looks like a mouth full of it.Diflucan was prescribed back then-so 1 dr did let me try it.it didnt work at all-.
Avatar f tn I am on my third round of nystatin oral mouth wash swish and spit and the oral thrush just keeps coming back. It was been 2 months with this now. I can't swallow the meds because I am pregnant. Is this recurrent oral thrush because I'm pregnant making me immunosuppressed or are my HiV results false negatives? (Each test was the HIV1 HIV2 combo Ab/Ag test). I am sorry I am so neurotic, just pregnancy has my nerves in overdrive.
Avatar n tn First off, I always use diflucan (which is an oral antifungal therapy) rather than anything topical. Sometimes the topical agents can cause a dermatitis which mimics or is even worse than the candida itself. Another big advantage of the diflucan is that it treats systemically, and reduces the candida in the GI tract as well as the genital area. Usually diflucan is prescribed in a single dose.
639543 tn?1297027634 He NEVER got the diaper rash that can be present with oral thrush. It is VERY difficult to treat since yeast thrives in warm, dark, moist places like a mouth. Get it checked asap so you can get it treated and under control sooner than later. Thankfully you are not breast feeding because it can pass back and forth between mom and baby making it painful for mom and even more difficult to treat. Good luck!!!!!
Avatar n tn You are right (in your comment below) that "thrush" is often used in the UK to mean yeast infection in general, whereas on this side of the Atlantic we tend to use thrush to mean oral infection only. It wasn't always that way; the change in the US seems to have evolved in connection with awareness of oral yeast as a possible indicator of AIDS. (There is nothing in your situation that raises HIV/AIDS concerns.

Avatar n tn Hi there, You have what is called thrush in your mouth. You can go to your general practicioner for this. Basically it's a yeast infection in your mouth from too much antibiotics. An oral dose of Diflucan or any other oral meds to treat yeast infections will work.
Avatar f tn I have been getting oral thrush off and on for maybe 10/15 years. I was recently diagnosed with c-diff. Is there a possibility that these two things are associated with each other ? The c-diff has already progressed to colitis. I recently started on probiotics, have been tested for HIV since thrush is associated with it.It just seems like my gastrointestinal system is out of whack.. how to I get it back to normal and healthy ? Thanks in advance.

1299678 tn?1327315957 I have had it twice during my pregnancy and I do all the same things as you. I actually used Canestan 6 day treatment and would use the cream for the outside every day for a little bit after symptoms were gone just to make sure. They can be pesky and reoccur or even be tough to get rid of simply because of hormones. What also helped me was just a nice cold cloth before bed and treatment! It's pretty soothing!
2118271 tn?1337463104 However, my gastroenterologist prescribed me Diflucan for Thrush, because Nystatin actually made it worse. I really hope it works. 2 weeks worth. In the mean time I am attempting to stomach Kefir and taking a probiotic supplement. Is this enough?
Avatar m tn You can try some saltwater gargles and probiotics. If your thrush persists, call your doctor for some Diflucan.
1435895 tn?1304291241 Did they give u DIFLUCAN for the thrush?...I get a reaction every time I take an antibiotic and need DIFLUCAN to help avoid a yeast infection.
Avatar m tn Fluconazole (Diflucan) is an antifungal medication used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections such as vaginal candidiasis, thrush and/or oral thrush, peritonitis which is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach, urinary tract infections and a few other fungal/yeast based issues. This medication works by killing the fungus or yeast or preventing it's growth.
