What was your risk ? When was your last risk? Generally, if the Diflucan or Nystatin does NOT work on your thrush, it's NOT thrush. Oral thrush is fairly common in many HIV negative individuals. Thrush does NOT equal HIV. HIV can NOT be diagnosed by ANY symptoms or lack of. You need to test 3 months after your LAST possible exposure ( unprotected anal/vaginal sex, IV drug use). Antibiotics are known to worsen oral thrush.
So about 2 months ago I had an outbreak and learned I had general herpes. One month ago I developed oral thrush. I have taken a suspension, diflucan, and lozenge and the thrush is not improving.
I was concerned there could be something larger wrong since the herpes and thrush issues started. I got a CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, mono and strep test- all results fine. My doctor wants me to go to the ENT next.
I had my annual in April and hiv test was negative...
They are raised spots and cannot be wiped away. Was treated for thrush with several different medication. finally sent to ENT where they found I had chronically infected adenoids. ENT felt that the tongue was underlying reason because of the infection how ever been on antibiotics for 5 days and still have spots. Any thoughts on what else it could be?
I have another appointment with my doctor Monday in which I will be asking to be blood tested for all possible issues. i have been battling with Oral Thrush, diagnosed by the doctor for about 5 weeks I think now. I obviously get really scared looking at all the talk about HIV. In the past year I have only had sex with two people. One is my girlfriend for the past year and the other I was tested after. Although I do not remember if it was long enough after for a true test.

Does this sound like thyroid to you and do you know why i would keep getting oral thrush? I have been treated many times with diflucan for vaginal yeast but the oral didn't devlop until after 7 months of flagyl, 2 steroid shots, ashtama inhlaer and bactrium treatment. Now it won't go away with diflucan treatment.
I have tried to nystatin a couple of times plus difulcan 150mg for 7 days over and over since the end of September and I am currently on diflucan 100mg for 30 days since January 29, 2015. I am about done with that and it is still there..I can't get it to clear up.
Just to let you know, I have lupus (sle), sjogren's syndrome, raynaunds, fibromyalgia, interstital cystitis, ibs, reflux, possible adrenal fatigue which I see my kidney dr.
About 2 months later, another doc put me on antibiotics for several weeks. It was at this time that my small case of thrush became a full blown monster.
Since then, I have been on ketoconazole 3x, I am currently finishing my 3rd cycle that has lasted nearly 1 month. I have gone through 2x 10day nystatin suspension every 4-6 hours (while on ketoconazole). I started taking acidophillus pills, garlic pills, apple cider vinegar pills, rinsing with organic apple cider vinegar.
I am on my third round of nystatin oral mouth wash swish and spit and the oral thrush just keeps coming back. It was been 2 months with this now. I can't swallow the meds because I am pregnant. Is this recurrent oral thrush because I'm pregnant making me immunosuppressed or are my HiV results false negatives? (Each test was the HIV1 HIV2 combo Ab/Ag test). I am sorry I am so neurotic, just pregnancy has my nerves in overdrive.

I immediately treated myself for thrush, having suffered previously, although the symptoms appeared more severe. When it failed to clear, I went to my doctor who examined me and prescribed more thrush treatment. You are right (in your comment below) that "thrush" is often used in the UK to mean yeast infection in general, whereas on this side of the Atlantic we tend to use thrush to mean oral infection only. It wasn't always that way; the change in the US seems to have evolved in connection with awareness of oral yeast as a possible indicator of AIDS. (There is nothing in your situation that raises HIV/AIDS concerns.
I have had weekly thrush infections for over three years now and have yet to find out exactly why this keeps recurring. My tongue has been cultured, and the coating was found to be Candida albicans. I've been to quite a few doctors, including ENT, infectious disease, allergy, and gastroenterology specialists. Not one of them can offer me any advice on how to rid myself of this painful illness, except for advising me to use antifungals on a regular basis.
I still have it and have been to over 20 doctors for it. I have been checked for thrush and candida 3 or 4 times with no positive result. Once i was even checked for systymatic yeast. I have been to oral surgeons, mouth specialists and a million other doctors. let me know if you find anything out cause i can't.
I have been getting oral thrush off and on for maybe 10/15 years. I was recently diagnosed with c-diff. Is there a possibility that these two things are associated with each other ? The c-diff has already progressed to colitis. I recently started on probiotics, have been tested for HIV since thrush is associated with it.It just seems like my gastrointestinal system is out of whack.. how to I get it back to normal and healthy ? Okay I was in hospital for cdiff an week later I got oral thrush now one of my tonsil swollen..when I swollow it irritates my ear ...and I have itchy throat..I been taking diflucan and using peroxide...feel like under my chin might be swollen I only feel it when I hold my head up...I'm so scared my partner donates ever month so he's clean but i have more than pne partner my papillae is also swollen at the back.. ...I'm having anxiety attacks I'm so scared...
