So the story begins about two weeks ago, I got a yeast infection and took care of it. About 2 days after the treatment was over I began to notice chafing in my groin area.I have gained a few pounds so I thought to myself it was normal, just eat healthy and go for a jog. I am experiencing a very similar thing on my right lower leg about 3 inches above the ankle. It started out of the blue after I fell getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. At first, I thought I had just hit my leg and had a bruise. But, it got worse and didn't heal. I too thought it was ringworm, but self-treatment with the usual home remedies have not helped and in fact, some made it worse. It started to sting and hurt deeply at times.
If it is nummular dermatitis, then antihistaminics and topical steroids may be needed whereas the treatment of fungal infections like ringworm is antifungals drugs.

m currently treating a vaginal yeast infection and was wondering what your experiences were with Diflucan? How long does a typical yeast infection last? The itching and burning have subsided, and I took my first diflucan pill Sunday (doc gave me 4). I'm also using Vagisil for itching and irritated skin! Thanks!
I went to the clinic on the 16th and I was told that it was only an irritation and I was given 150mg of diflucan. It cleared up and was looking better, so I had sex again with her 12 days later on the 28th of September; we did it at night and then again in the morning but I noticed she was somewhat dry in the morning and by that afternoon of the 29th, I immediately noticed that the irritation had returned.
I went back to the doctor, he gave me diflucan, She also got diflucan. After three days on the diflucan, her symptoms were gone and mine were 90% gone. I then began to apply a diluted vinegar solution. The symptoms were gone for a few days, including the redness, but then they came back. Not as bad as before, but still there.
At that point he screened for claymidia and gonnorea, and gave me the zpac. I continued diflucan and vinegar, with the sympmtoms almost, but not quite, vanishing again.
I am glad you asked this question. I am 9 yrs out from transplant and every time I have to go on an antibiotic (like for a UTI) I end up getting something else from the antibiotic. Right now, following 10 days of antibiotics for a UTI (Cipro) I have very bad thrush and am now on my 3rd bottle of Nystatin swish and swallow and have seen NO improvement at all. I am going to ask my dr for the mycelex troches when I see him this week. Good Luck to you.

In this case, prescription oral anti-fungal medication from your doctor may be needed. Scalp ringworm is a major cause of hair loss, and should be treated aggressively. Though treatment may be different with your other son.It is important that you finish the full course of antibiotic that your doctor prescribes and treat for at least another week after the resolution of symptoms to guarantee eradication.
Right after, my right thumb started to shed skin, and then became very red, blistered, and itchy. My doctor prescribed a variety of steroid creams, all of which did not clear anything up. At one point she prescribed an antibiotic (while still using a steroid cream) and it has since somewhat cleared, although not completely.
Currently: In Jan 2009 I developped a rash under my chin. Steroid creams did not work, neither did an immunosupressant cream.
If suspected ringworm does not respond to routine antifungal treatment, further diagnostics must be performed, like a skin biopsy, a fungal culture, or a skin scraping for fungus identification.

Hi, i have a rash that looks like ringworm, and as i started10 mg clotrimazol cream treatment, the rash stopped spreading and became less red, developing a brownish color instead. It has been almost 4 weeks since the treatment and it has vanished a lot, but every time I apply cream or take shower the spot gets a little more vivid. Is this normal in a ringworm lesion? I am unable to eat much fruit or vegetables with high sugar content. I am currently being treated with Diflucan and Cipro for an existing yeast problem. I am taking Diflucan for 30 days and Cipro for 10 days. This will give me some relief for about three or four months and then I will need to treat the problem again. Questions: Should I change the Diflucan/Cipro time schedule or try different drugs? Any other suggestion would be very much appreciated.
Hi. I have a 10yr old daughter who got ringworm. This is what I did for her. I washed the area three times a day.Then I put Tinactin on it. U can get it over the counter. Its an antifungal cream for athletes foot. I know it sounds strange putting something for a foot fungal on your face and head. But if u do this for seven to fourteen days u will see that it works. My daughter no longer has ringworm. Any Antifungal cream should work. Ringworm is a fungal infection.
Update on Tiger. He is eating good and steady growing. We have developed ringworm. First noticed it on his one ear. Then noticed one on back foot. Now he has got it going across the bridge of his nose. I have never delt with ringworm. Do I need to get meds. from Vet or does any one know of a good OTC treatment. I have read different things on the web. Like using apple cider vinegar or miconazole! I am open to suggestions!
