1632818 tn?1299941302 t remember why, I think she contradicted herself on skin-care advice or something) but I continued to use the products. My skin was a bit better with these products, and by that I mean the burning was bearable and didn't last as long. Actually, the one thing that seemed to sooth my skin the most was the sunscreen for some reason.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have been prescribed differin gel for "acne" problems. I recently had a huge one with deep cyst (when i touch it i can feel hardness under the skin)...then it formed a white head and oozed a lot of pus (and some blood) after which it stopped being painful. My question is can I still keep on applying differin gel on top of the acne even though it's "broken" skin? The differin seems to help calm the inflammation pretty quick and dry it out...
Avatar m tn Moisturizers and oatmeal baths sooth the skin. After the skin peels, the healthy skin surfaces and should even out your skin color. If the redness persists, it is best to discuss this with your dermatologist for further evaluation. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn have a lot of blackheads only in my nose area, but not other part of face, my face was clean, i dont know why oil production only occurs in my nose area, I have been doing daily skin care routine everyday, and apply salicylic acid 2% (from paula's choice) everyday for exfoliation. i also wash face with mild cleanser and apply moisturizer, after apply moisturizer on my nose still becomes more oily.
Avatar f tn In the morning, I wash with the Daily Ritual Cleanser with wet face and hands, pat dry and then apply Seban Liquid (the BEST oil control product I have ever used!) Seban can be purchased at www.cooperlabs.com. Serious Skin Care can be purchased at HSN.com and Nature's Cure at drugstore.com. My skin is clear and oil free all day and has been for the 2 years I have been using this routine.
Avatar n tn When in the light I notice that on these patches there seems to be a top layer of thin skin. The Differin has subsided my breakouts nicely, but I am still left with these very noticeable red spots all over my face and I am absolutely freaking out. There appears to be no indentation so I would hope this wouldn't be permanent. Is it normal to have such a reaction and if so, how can I help this heal, and how long will it probably take?
Avatar n tn Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels. In my opinion you should discuss these treatment options with a cosmetologist/dermatologist. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn Hi I've recently been using differin gel, but about a week ago I started breaking out bad and decided to take a week long break from the gel to heal my skin. I was wondering if taking a week long break was a good idea or not?
Avatar m tn Do not pop spots or blackheads. This seldom improves their appearance and will spread the bacteria under the skin causing future breakouts. There are many scrubs and masks on the market which can improve the appearance of blackheads. If they are of limited benefit to you, ask your doctor about Differin gel. This is a topical retinoid which contains Adapalene 0.1%. It works deep into your pores and is effective at clearing both acne and blackheads. Eloise.
Avatar n tn Hello, Do not use any alpha hydroxy acid products (those containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin and Tazorac) and other topical acne medications such as benzoyl peroxide for 72 hours after the treatment. Also any scarubbing or acne soaps should be avoided for atleast 1 week after the miscrodermabrasion procedure.
1335691 tn?1275733267 Acne occurs when the patient has raised levels of androgens (hormones such as testosterone). Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feed off this excess oil (sebum) blocking the pores and resulting in spots. The standard treatment for acne is a course of oral antibiotics such as oxytetracycline and a topical retinoid like Differin. Get a prescription for these from your doctor. Elevated androgen levels are common during adolesence and early 20s.
Avatar f tn The best topical lotion in my opinion is Differin. It can be as effective as topical Isotretinoin but is usually much better tolerated, with little or no redness and peeling. It is even more effective when used in conjunction with oral antibiotics. I have taken Accutane twice (20% of patients require a second course) with good results, please see my photos in my profile. I am happy to discuss any concerns you have about this drug. Eloise.
Avatar n tn I thought perhaps they were small clogged pores, but when pressed on, nothing came out. So I thought maybe they were just a patch or dry skin, or skin a rubbed a bit raw when rubbing my eyes at night or something, so I tried applying Differin cream to it with no result. It is not spreading, but it is not going away either. Some have said it's just a mark I got from being overstressed, but i think that really means they have no idea...haha...help?

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Hello, You can use any of these regimens as both are meant for aged skin. The second regimen is a complete skin care program and is beneficial. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
