Avatar n tn For the past 5 years, I use and like Splenda (sucralose). Its new so the jury is still out whether potential harm will come by it. On the market in Japan since the 1970's is Stevia. I find Stevia to be extremely sweet and artificial tasting, where Splenda has more of the sugar taste. I won't touch Aspartame. Each has their own taste so its up to your taste buds to decide which one is right for you.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I am 17 weeks this is my 2nd child my little girl is 5 years old but with her it was basically the perfect pregnancy. No morning sickness or anything. But this time around I've had this nasty taste in my mouth that won't go away unless I am eating or drinking something and then it comes right back. Have any of you experienced this and if so what did you do or take?

579670 tn?1218213544 Hi, i am doing Food technology GCSE and my coursework is to design and make a range of products suitable for a diabetic that could be sold in the healthy eating section of a supermarket. Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most?
Avatar m tn What does make a point tho is that complex carbohydrates take longer time to break down in your body to that means the blood glucose remains more stable. Complex carbohydrates are startchy food like patatoes, rice and pastas. Simple carbohydrates are what you should avoid and those are desserts and candies.
Avatar f tn Luckys makes great pies & other sugar free desserts that taste great and didnt mess with my numbers.
443878 tn?1205103196 I gained 90 pounds when I was pregnant, got gestational diabetes, turned into type II diabetes after I gave birth. I have tried every diet imaginable, and have not been able to lose much weight at all. I lost a few pounds when I started metformin medication, but have now stabilized again.

1360484 tn?1277732214 Does anyone know of any quick low fat low calorie desserts I can make for my family?
Avatar n tn Hi LoopyMo, I am a volunteer as well and a diabetic for 25 years. I agree with LRS-she had some good info. I have to tell you some of my own insights too. I love that my husband doesn't nag me about my diabetes. He lets me handle it and doesn't questions everything that goes into my mouth. I think it is great that you are concerned, but don't push too hard. Instead get informed as LRS mentioned too. Look up info on websites, not commercial but more like JDRF.
872485 tn?1240603562 I went to the doctor b/c of headaches and always being thristy. I had an A1C test and it came back at 6.4%. He said he wants me to follow a diabetic diet and exercise and have retest in 6 months. My fasting BS was 88, so that's good. I was told in college (I"m 34) that I had hypoglycemia and both my grandparents (one on each side) has diabetes. Does 6.4 mean I'm prediabetic? diabetic? Thanks!
Avatar m tn All fruits are good for Diabetics even Banana, mango and other sweet fruits. Fruits are filling and have protein too, a banana is better than desserts and please note the soft skin between the thick peel and fruit must be eaten, it has Potassium (K) which is essential to convert sugar to energy not go in blood as sugar. But most importantly "moderation" is very important. One banana is good but a meal of banana can be disastrous.
Avatar f tn Hi, i'm preggers with a boy, and its true for me, i totally turned off chocolate, lollies and desserts at the beginning of my pregnancy. All i wanted was a steak! And sausage rolls. Now i'm 30 w tomorrow and i'm just starting to get my taste back for some desserts. Congrtats on your pregnancy, and i truly hope you get that little boy you're so longing for!
Avatar n tn my doctor prescribed me metformin diabetic medication. since I started taking the medication, my favorite drinks, like snapple ice tea, taste all sugar ( extreme sweetness) that I could not take more than one or two zip. what is going on?
4262663 tn?1351896932 Because I believe sometimes a pre-diabetic or diabetic state can cause that. Either one of those can be brought way down by a healthy diet/exercise. That's what my husb (he's pre-diabetic - I don't think I am yet) and I are struggling with now.
Avatar n tn That is very strange! Have you ingested any over the counter medicines, products or foods? Nyquil, Listerine, fruit cake? That's the first thing that came to mind...Although, I know Nyquil is a huge no-no for pregnant women because it does contain a small trace of alcohol...and because of the holidays, many foods and desserts are spiked with traces of alcohol...other than that, I'm stumped. When can they tell you what it is from?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm new to your Diabetes 2 Community but have been involved some with the MS community. I have Multiple Sclerosis but was diagnosed about 2 years ago with diabetes 2. When I first learned my blood sugar was high at 364, I immediately and without hesitation went on a diet and lost about 45 lbs. I did pretty good for a year and a half, but then I began eating sweets again. Plus, my best friend and Mom were very ill and dying, so I did a lot of stress eating.
Avatar f tn Oh yes lol definetly using that excuse to as many tamales as posible lol
Avatar f tn its not as bad as it seems just the main stressor is carbs and by that I mean breads rice noodles etc. they are worse then sugary desserts. this is my third and I didn't have it with my other two so its scary but keep an eye on your sugar and I just eat small snacks every two to three hours to keep a stable blood sugar. I cut back on drinks, mainly water and natural juice now. and I eat more veggies. limit your bread and fatty meats intake also.
1881346 tn?1341924768 I read it in a pregnancy magazine of mine and it has been a life saver! I get the gum that tastes like desserts. :) It's the only thing that works for me. Water gives me heartburn!
Avatar f tn Im waiting for them to call me to atend the classes.after that i have 2 reschedule with my ob to check the baby size.i hope i dont harm my lil man. Im just sooo worry that this diabet stays with me after pregnancy.another thing I'm afraid of is ending up with c-section due to a bug baby because of my failure. Do you know if more walking will be helpfull.i don't know what to expect.
Avatar f tn I have found that I can't even think of any soda, whether they are regular or diet. They all make me feel lousy. Diet sodas are worse. And, they taste like chemicals, too. They're not good for people anyway. I don't drink much of anything, other than water. Did you hear that the FDA has approved yet another fake sugar based on stevia?
