579670 tn?1218217144 Part of my research is to produce a diabetic questionnaire asking relevant questions which would help me with my coursework. Since i do not know anybody with diabetes it would be very helpful if anyone with diabetes could complete the questionnaire. Many Thanks x 1. What type of dish do you enjoy most? Avatar m tn How sweet it is - especially for the bottom line. That leaves them plenty of money to buy off anyone who might want to blow the whistle on their deadly little scam - and leaves most doctors as ignorant as their patients about the dangers of aspartame. And it makes even more sense when you find out that most of the studies "proving" the safety of aspartame were financed by - guess who? - the big food industry.
167664 tn?1203976220 Uggh, I just feel so fat and disgusting. Every time I have to get dressed to go somewhere I have to fight back the tears. And, the maternity clothes are starting to get too tight around the belly! I am thrilled my son is big and healthy. I know that is the main thing. It has just been hard because right before I found out I was pregnant, I had been losing weight, working out and feeling good and it has all gone to hell now.
2114467 tn?1358213856 My Doctor never warned me to stay away from sugar, just alcohol. Besides, I like to pamper myself on Tx. Yeah, sure, I try to avoid sugar most of the time, because I read my labs, and noticed this treatment seemed to be making my non-fasting glucose higher than usual, but then again, what do I even know about that test?
Avatar f tn I love to make soups. I start with a soup base that has very little sodium. It's sold in glass jars in 5 flavors. I also know how to boil the bones. To make home made broth. I have no children but dreamed of having 5. I make restaurant size portions & use the freezer a lot. So at mealtime it's just defrost & add more seasonal vegetables.
Avatar n tn I would love to go on a "fad" (lol) diet like south beach or weight watchers or even Jenny Craig but there is no way that I could afford it...I can barely afford even remotely "healthy" food let alone a diet and the food you need to eat while on it...I want to lose weight but I just don't want to be hungry all the time..It seems as if everytime I try to lose weight I end up giving up cause I am starved and can't take it...
Avatar m tn Ask your doctor to refer you to a diabetic nurse who will have more time to discuss your issues with her than the doctor. They will explain to you when to do your self monitoring at home and may even have a chart for you to fill in. When I feel unwell with foggy vision, I usually ask my husband to test my sugar levels using his monitor. Do bear in mind also that if you have an illness or ever have any steroid injections, your sugar levels will go up.
Avatar m tn I have been urinating much too frequently, almost to the point that it is becoming bothersome. I am also trying to avoid a doctors visit for obvious reasons, so I thought I would give this a shot; any help would be appreciated. Here are the facts: I am a twenty-one year old male, 6'5 and 145 pounds, clean of any STD's, which could be a variable. I do not have diabetes; I have actually been tested for that, although the symptoms point that way. My blood sugar is relatively normal.
Avatar f tn All of of who have been pregnant have probly been through it!!! I also had high blood sugar during pregnancy not quite to diabetic levels but borderline. I also had hypoglycemia with my two last pregnancies. We obviously have blood sugar issues. Thanks for your help and kind words.
Avatar f tn In the meantime, I've read several articles that have said that the A1c is not necessarily accurate in non-diabetic people because, according to one doctor, their RBC's live longer so the glucose has more time to accumulate. Although I'm not sure I get that because the A1c is an average, isn't it? Anyway, this one doctor has said that he sees it in his practice all the time, i.e.
Avatar n tn 1 with regular sugar) with some form of actual sugar, so for this diabetic there's not much benefit. Fructose doesn't seem to raise blood sugar, but results were mixed in terms of taste and consistency. [plus the medical literature suggests some negative long-term effects for diabetics consuming derived fructose] Sugar alcohols: overall, no for high-temp or over 30-minute baking...
Avatar f tn 7 or lower, and even my brother, who is much more diabetic than I am, is able to adhere to that rule. Type 1's, on the other hand, do find it difficult to go below 7. If your insurance gets stingy on you and doesn't provide a meter, I would become insistent and remind them that it is far more expensive to treat the consequences of uncontrolled diabetes than it is to treat diabetes itself. The meters are cheap, sometimes free, but the strips are rather expensive.
Avatar n tn I seldom drink diet drinks, maybe one every 2-3 weeks or so. My wife bought a 12 pack almost two months ago, and there's still 7 left. I consume no other "sugar free" products (candies, desserts, etc.) that I'm aware of. However, since beginning to suffer these symptoms more acutely a month ago, I have had no more alcohol (which before that was only about 1 beer a month anyway), and I've had no more diet drinks at all since then.
1406332 tn?1315966360 I've lost 10 pounds in 6 months and probably like 4-6 inches off of my waist (I have to buy a new belt). Do I live my life like listed above every second of every day? Absolutely freaking not. I indulge, take advantage of special occasions, and just have an off day every once in awhile. Should you pick some of the things that you like off of this list and try to implement them? I dare you to! I bet you you will start to feel better even a few days after you remove some of these things!
Avatar m tn Store-bought saline is also expensive, and the quantities required will make you hesitant. It’s cheap and easy to make your own saline, a gallon at a time. Buy a one-gallon plastic bottle of distilled or osmosis-purified water. I always buy distilled, because the water has been boiled. The water usually has an expiration date. Don’t buy a regular bottle of regular drinking water or spring water.
1809109 tn?1331807377 Fortunately this conversation is on grocery shopping day -now I have an excuse to buy and bake. No worries about the conversions though. I'm an American (married to an Aussie) so I've become a confusing hybrid. My husband laughs at me because I measure in imperial cups and bake in Celsius. My meat thermometer is Fahrenheit, my candy one is Celsius. The poor guy has no chance when he gets into my kitchen.
544292 tn?1268886268 Hi and welcome to Part 50! Wow part 50. Please make yourself at home. Snuggle down. It'll be a bumpy ride but I know you Tramadol Warrirors can do it!
1498386 tn?1403031253 I have started exercising at a gym and following a diabetic diet and lost 6kg in 3 months, the metformin also contributes to weight loss.. The cramps and pains dont go away. I need to know if anyone has overcome pcos ? Have you lost the weight completely ? Most importantly, have you managed to concieve and deliver a healthy baby ?
Avatar n tn Do you have to have Diabetes to get this medication? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You have to be Pre-Diabetic or insulin resistant or lastly have PCOS to get on the med. you cant just go in and say you would like to be put on it.
Avatar n tn I have been training for half marathons (I ran one in April 2006) so I have been keeping the cardio up with running 3-4 days during the week and then 5-10 miles on the weekends. Recently I got so frustrated that I went to a dietitican. She claimed that I needed to rev up my workouts by doing interval training and then eating more protein and more times of the day.
Avatar n tn I know we aren't supposed to take laxatives and can't bring myself to go buy an enema........I know I'm an artard! But if this keeps up, trust me I will go to Sam's club and buy a whole freaking case of them! I was a saltaholic too and have tried to cut it out completely which is killing me more then anything. But I don't want to retain any water. This is true on the shots. Its probably all just in my head anyway.
Avatar n tn spend lots and lots of dollars of worthless stuff like slimquick and everything else with catchy names to make us buy them.......but bottom line is that i am now seeing a doctor that has greatly helped me. Best thing I did. I recommend you find yourself someone who is specialized in weight management, and stop waisting yourtime or your money.
Avatar f tn Sour stomach, cramps, reflux and soft stools are just a part of life for me and I've been able to lead a fairly normal and mobile life in spite of these issues. Six weeks ago, I went to work and took one of my kids w/me. He loves going to the office for some reason and he had nothing better to do on this particular summer day. Around 10am I started noticing that I was burping quite a bit and my son pointed out that something smelled like "rotten eggs".
Avatar n tn In June, I bought KT's book as a free book--buy 2 get 1 free--on a lark just to see what it had to say (had been asking every doctor I ever saw about hCG, and they would always look at me like I was from another planet, even when I explained my success from years before), was thrilled to find that hCG was available (and finally had a reasonable answer as to why it had disappeared), went thru the testing, etc, and since July 12th have lost 11 pounds.
Avatar n tn I am new here, and was wondering about this phen everyone is talking about. Do you have to be perscribed or can you buy online? I am looking for additional methods with weight loss since I have had no luck. I have endometriosis, and have been on a lot of hormones and forced into a medically induced menopause at age 25...it is no fun what so ever. With all of this it has caused a lot of weight gain, and of course all in my stomach area.
147426 tn?1317269232 which are given to us as gospel are things for which the good doctors should know better! 1) You Have to be 25 years old and female to get MS. Yes, some us have been told such outrageous things. The age of onset of MS has been found to be between 18 months and 70-some years of age. The average age of diagnosis is just over 35. The classic range is, indeed, between 20 and 40, but the doctor that stops there is an idiot.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear you all are going through this. I have not had it, but because I have food allergies and food allergies can cause all kinds of symptoms, I think you might want to try the 'caveman diet." I'd buy organic meats/chicken/fish, fruits and vegetables (organic is more important with some foods more than others) and nuts, and avoid grains and processed foods. Do your own cooking, or eat raw when possible, and cook simply except to use herbs. Eat lots of greens.
Avatar f tn Once upon a time I stayed close to home for the best part of ten years. If I went out it was a living hell. Had to hold onto railings and walls as I walked along. So scared was I out there. Most of those ten years was spent laying on a bed fighting my own mind. Just waiting for one day to end and another to begin. Truth was it was like one continous day with a little bit of darkness to break it up. Worse still, I didn't want to tell my own family exactly how bad I was.
256349 tn?1189759437 It is ok becuse I sttill have all my skiney cloths from five years ago on up and since guys dont have to worry to much about the latest styles my downsizing wont cost me a fortune. For once I feel like I can give away my big cloths cus I am sure I will not need them again......
Avatar n tn ' I've never had a yeast infection before, but the first month it happened I assumed that's what it was. I treated it OTC to save a trip to the doctor. Since then, I've just lived with it until it passed. I have an annual exam coming up within the next month, and this problem is top of my list for discussion. However, if anyone has any advice or personal experience with something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. P.S.
