Avatar n tn As Supersally stated a "diabetes educator" is the place to go. They may or not be nurse practicioners. A nurse practicioner may write script for medication changes, which will save you money. Keeping a good record of your glucose levels is essential. Your diabetes nurse educator will help you learn how to use the pen and set your insulin dose. Take care! Avatar n tn You may need to test your blood sugar two hours after eating occasionally and if it is high or low, you can talk to your doctor or diabetes educator about adjusting your insulin. This is because fat slows down the digestion process.
