Depo provera yeast infections

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera yeast infections

Avatar n tn would having had partial endometriosis and an ectopic pregnancy in the past and having surgery for it and/or being on depo-provera for the past 10 years have any effect on getting these yeast infections? thanks for any insight that you can provide.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Once you are off depovera it may take some time for your periods to return to normal. Depo-Provera is a hormone shot which is a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy and a woman needs six to eight months to let the hormone clear before she will be able to menstruate and be able to conceive. The causes of brown discharge are repeated yeast infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial vaginosis, cervical cancer, STDs.
Avatar m tn Nothing that severe, but I had my period but 7 months straight without a break and gained more than 30 pounds. I only got one shot. Ever since then, I've had repeated yeast infections and sometimes, I'll get pain inside my vagina. I'm 16 years old.
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
Avatar f tn I have been cared for by a new doctor for the last couple years now and have been treated continuous for chronic yeast/urinary tract infections, chronic throat infections, chronic bacterial skin infections with several anibiotics and antifungals having no sucess. I was in the walk in clinic almost every week for months desperate for some answers.
Avatar n tn So when the acne started showing up, I had been off of the depo for a year and a half. I was perfectly healthy before going on the depo. I have heard that depo provera effects insulin levels and I do have some symptoms of insulin resistance (dizziness, light headedness, heart racing, mood swings, headaches, chronic yeast infections.) All this combined with the acne and hair growth lead me to believe that I should be concerned about PCOS.
Avatar f tn I had the Depo Provera shot back in June and was due for another in September, however did not get another due to its side effects. I did not have a period the entire three months and a couple weeks after I was due for another shot, I have been receiving discharge that's sometimes bloody and sometimes brown, typical spotting not enough for any tampons or liners or anything. I figured because I hadn't been ovulating from the shot my system was just cleaning itself out.
Avatar n tn hello I have been diagnosed many times with yeast infections however they never seem to go away completely, In my relationship, we have a healthy sex life, however most recently (6 months to now) I can not preform because after 10 minutes into sex i have intense pain, it feels swollen, and burning sensation during and after. I have tried to use variety of lubrication, however, it makes it worse. I also have had pelvic screenings and their clean.
Avatar n tn ) Is your new birth control the depo provera shot? That CAUSES irregularity in bleeding. 2.) Even if it's not depo, yes, your body COULD be reacting to the new introduction of hormones. 3.) If you just are recovering from a yeast infection, YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE A TAMPON!!!! YOU CAN CAUSE THE YEAST TO STAY AND MULTIPLY EVEN IF IT'S ALMOST GONE!!!!! 4.
Avatar n tn By any chance are you on depo provera? My thyroid levels have been out of whack the whole time I was on the depo shot, I had my last shot april 07 , and sept 4th was my 2nd normal tsh level , last may 06 it was (normal) but I still continured to feel like **** . I had been hypo for 13 yrs on .25 mcg of synthroid with no problem, then started the depo shot. Tsh level was way too low.
Avatar f tn So ever since I got put on birth control the Depo Provera shot I have been experiencing a whole lot of pain to where I can't even have intercourse. I went to my doctor she said I need to go through therapy because I tense my muscles up when I am having lower abdominal pains, I had the abdominal pains before I got on the shot but they were no where near as bad as they are now. right along with the burning and pain and the itchieness of my vagina. It is so painful.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I have never turned to a forum of any kind for any reason before but I am now because I don't feel like I can really talk to anyone in my personal life about what I'm dealing with every day & have them actually understand. I am 22 years old. I have had 4 laproscopy's in the past 4 years (the last one being a week ago today) & 3 DNC's (along with the past 3 surgeries - not this most recent surgery) to clean out the endometriosis & everything.
Avatar f tn Depending upon what your risk for blood clots is, you might be able to use depo-Provera to suppress the ovaries and the testosterone. A really great medication for excess testosterone is Spironolactone, but you must be on some kind of birth control to take it, as it can cause birth defects. It also sounds like you may need a workup for all those UTIs! After all those antibiotics, its no wonder that you have a yeast infection!
Avatar n tn Saw numerous gynos-always tested negative for STDs etc. (saw lots of shoulder shrugging) -have been on depo-provera for aprox 4 years -have reoccuring yeast infections -no bad odour -I don't use soap or other irritants Aprox. 3 mths ago I started to have intense pain of the vulva, saw a gyno, was treated for yeast w/ monistat. BURNING HAS NOT GONE AWAY. +aprox. 2months ago I started getting red bumps that turned into white looking blisters-very painful.
Avatar f tn I found it to be very effective we cannot use condoms as they make me break out and get yeast infections etc so that only thing we did for bc for over 2 years. If my husband wasn't getting a vasectomy so I don't have to be on bc for rest of forever at 25 id be going with that again. I also didn't gain any weight with. Just a little hormonal in the beginning until body adjusted.
Avatar n tn I have had discharge that seems murky brown, and even blood spotting. (I do not get a period due to Depo provera, so it cannot be menstrual blood). After urination (which is not painful, but feels slightly uncomfortable) I gently blot instead of wiping, because it's extremely sensitive and painful, and usually trace amounts of fresh, red blood appear on the toilet paper. I have not had sex in 2 days, but it remains just as painful.
Avatar n tn you are still young and periods can change and do crazy things along the way. many woman get yeast infections also. having cold hands could just mean poor circulation or low iron. im always freezing. as a matter of fact i went to bed last night w. socks on. sexy huh? no, i think that everything is fine. just keep up with your appointments and ask your dr. do you see a gynocologist each year? you should make an appt. as to why you havent gotten a period for months now.
Avatar n tn I don't have any vaginal itching or anal itching, and there appears to be no sign of any type of yeast infection. I have had also in the past year had three bladder infections after not having one for over 20 years with no change in sexual practices. I am partnered with a woman, and we have been together seven years with no other sexual contact. We do have a swimming pool but I have been swimming on weekends in the warm months for two years now.
1331397 tn?1294043495 This is a recurrance (after 12 years, 10 of which were on Depo Provera) of Behcets Syndrome, a genetic disorder. The Nurse Practitioner at Planned Parenthood did a pap and tested for Trich and Bacterial Vaginosis, both of which were negative. Good luck!
Avatar n tn So, the skin on the undersides gets *no* air, light, or anything else, since basically they just lie flat and deflated-looking on my stomach, unless they're in a bra, and even that doesn't help much. The area is prone to yeast infections because of the lack of air.
Avatar f tn May 9 - Appointment with surgeon explained to nurse practitioner that I was still having pain, abdominal discomfort, bloated, not feeling well, no appetite 130lbs Blood work- normal Sgot 11 May 12 - went to a medical clinic - not feeling good, no appetite, feel full, back pain, positive for yeast infection although no discharge present Bowels sound intact and functional Urine test showed good results Prescription Fluconazole 150 MG 1st pill taken this day 126 lbs May 16 - 1251am - calle
Avatar n tn I was on Alesse for a year and everything went wrong with my body, I had more yeast infections than I've ever had in my life and hot flashes, trouble sleeping I gained like 15 pounds on it and I had a bunch of other side effects. So I stoped the pill and got a copper IUD. If you are having problems with bc pills, then don't do the Shot it would be triple what you have on the pills. Go with something milder like the nuvaring or an IUD.
Avatar n tn Well i on the certain hand have only heard of weight gain being possible in the depo provera shot. but I took it for 2 yrs after i had my first child and it actually made me lose weight! i was about 135 and it brought me down to 107. So i got off of it and now i am back to my normal healthy size. but my sister took it and gain 85 lbs! So watch out ladies! That is the only one i heard of that makes you gain weight. and the patch gives yeast infections and really bad migraines headaches!
Avatar n tn I should also mention that in the last 2-3 years I have also been suffering from anxiety and I have been going on and off of the depo provera shot as well... both of those could be triggering things I guess? ( I am now in my early 30's) I was first diagnosed by a swab on the lesions, but since it was so long ago I no longer have the actual details of the test.
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention that the "cuts" started after having taken depo provera and been on it for almost a month (3 weeks to be specific). Also, I had never checked myself until the other day when I saw the bumps. Thank you for your help!
268356 tn?1236006204 Sometimes when they were sent off they would come back positive but most times it wouldn't. Before my son, I was on depo provera for almost 8.5 years. Which I think has masked my condition. I had essure done after my son was born cause I knew that I was done having kids. I have been keeping track of my symptoms for about the last year. Thinking that there must be something triggering what I thought were bladder infections.
435139 tn?1255463991 as it only lasts in your body 24 hours there is more of a chance of conceiving as it's out of your system quicker than depo-provera and the implant. If i'm honest and i knew how bad depo-provera was going to be i would never have taken it i still think to this day if i had not taken depo and been told the consequences i would have a child of my own at this moment. I wish you all the luck in whatever you chose but i would stick with the contraceptive pill!!!
Avatar f tn I have been on birth control (mostly the pill, though have also tried depo provera, and the patch..neither of which were for me) since I started my period at the age of 12. The doctor put me right onto birth control due to the uncontrollable cramping, vomiting, migranes, and other symptoms that came along with my monthly cycle. Even after years of taking the pill, the pain was still hardly bareable and I missed an average of 3 days/month from school between grades 7 and 12.
Avatar f tn I also recieved chronic yeast infections when I missed those periods. Also acne. I also got the lower abdominal pains. Including a 20 pound overweight gain. Then when i got in birth control pills (Yazmin and Zovia). I found out I was allergic to them. So now my doctor has placed me on a strict low sugar and carb diet. Dealt with dealing with stress (stress can contribute to the loss of periods also). Lost the weight. I now take my vitamins and acidophilus for the resist yeast infections.
