Avatar f tn I had the depo shot 3 times last year-june, sept, & nov. I was very worried about getting my period back but finally i got it in may. give it time. My husband and i have been trying to conceieve since nov but no luck. I have read lots of stories about pregnany taking 1-3 years after your last shot (even thogh i was told 6-12 months) I have been hoping that now that i finally got my period back that it is a sign that i am ready. Good luck to you!

Avatar f tn I've heard some horror stories of Depo-Provera but I've also heard a loooot of good. Could someone please share their story(s) and other's stories? I just want more opinions and comments so I get a better understanding on whether or not to get it.
232077 tn?1218426943 I just completed my Lupron Depot therapy and now my GYN wants me to go on Depo Provera because he feels this is the best course of treatment to continue with. I had heard that it caused a great amount of weight gain and asked him about that and he said that the drug does increase your appetite and if you reach for cake instead of fruit you WILL gain weight. I did some research on the net and now I wish I never had because I read so many horror stories about the drug.
Avatar f tn Argh! I'm reading bad stories all over the place about Depo Provera, and I'm no exception. I got my first injection June of 2010. When I first got it, I had the discharge and whatnot, but it was -constant-. It wasn't spotting or irregular, it just always was there. I eventually got sick of this, and my last injection was supposed to be around Sept. 15th, but I didn't go for it. So now it's a month later, and the discharge has escalated to a full-on period that will not stop!
4069776 tn?1349521984 I am wondering if any one else is going through Depo Provera withdrawals? I was on it for 9 years and recently me and my husband decided to go off of it since we knew that this form of birth control can take up to 18 months if you are ttc. i was due for my shot in April and when the time came I went to my doctor to discuss getting off of it and the possible side effect or problems that I might encounter. He basically assured me that nothing will happen because I did so well while I was on it.
Avatar n tn in the springtime, I was leaving home and I recieved my first Depo shot from the family doctor. (She explained to me depo was short term; i.e. two years). (Planned parenthood later explained at age 19 that Depo is safe for more than 2 years, "just take calcium/ d suppliments") That summer I started going to Planned Parenthood. I do not remember exactly when but I am sure it was June or July (still age 17) when this happened to me.
Avatar n tn Well, here goes nothing. I have been on depo provera for over 8 years. I have signed up for a forum for people who are trying to concieve after depo and have had some great support. I have been reading alot your posts and replied to a few. I am told that it could take as long as 2 years before I can get pregnant. I don't think I have ovulated yet. Last shot was August 4, 2006. Usually you take the shots every 3 months since it is possible to get pg if it is taken too late.
Avatar n tn I was on Depo provera for a few years, in 1999 I went off of it and I got pregnant,I was thrilled untill I started bleeding, I went to the hospital and found out I had miscarried, I had tried to get pregnant since then and I was prescribed Clomid last year. I got pregnant again, but lost that baby at 9 weeks. it has been heartbreaking. i cry everyday. I know now that it was because of the Depo. I have a hard time when all of my friends around me are getting pregnant with no problem.
Avatar n tn The docotors believe I may have a progesterone problem due to Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 6 years and went off the shot in Sept. Does anyone know if the effects of this shot can linger and cause lower progesterone levels?
Avatar n tn I am in a group where all the women are trying to conceive after the depo provera. Many have been trying to conceive for years, and no luck. And it seems like those who do conceive have miscarriages soon after. Its like 80% of the women who get pg have a miscarriage. Is this linked to the depo? Age? Im 22 and am trying to conceive #2. (my son is 6 now) I am so scared that it might happen to me.
Avatar n tn Hi andreaR - I was 26 went I went on Depo and I just turned 38. If you search 'depo' in this forum, you'll see my list of side effects. My period stopped almost immediately after I started depo and I certainly didn't miss it.
432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn I accidentally came across a web site once about a woman who wrote a book about the horror stories of coming off depo. I was on Depo for almost 8 years. There are thousands of women who posted side effects on the website....either while on depo or coming off. I have had a number of ailments ...coincidently over the years???? who knows. I don't think it was the healthiest decision being on it. But glad I'm finally off it....Scary though....you should try to search for it...

202436 tn?1326477933 I wasn't planning on using any birth control after I had Lily, we were just gonna go with natural family planning. Well at my doc appt today he suggested the depo provera shot may help with milk production since I'm having an issue with it due to anemia. I went ahead and got the shot becuase I figured it was worth trying to see if it WILL help AND with the anemia problems right now it's probably best that I elminate as much risk of pregnancy as possible for awhile.
5363805 tn?1366921550 I am suffering from depression and anxiety due to depo-provera (already talked to an OB, and she said that it HAS to be from that), and I am barely coping. It's been 6 days and I'm already ready to give up on myself, and I see no end in sight. I'm losing hope. I wish I had never taken it. I'm also suffering from fatigue and headaches. My head feels so heavy, I can barely hold it up.
Avatar n tn After being on depo provera for 1 year, I decided to discontinue use and switch to the pill. I decided to be single (and not sexually active) for a while, so I decided to wait until I got my period to start taking the pill. The only problem is that I STILL haven't had a period! It's been 6 or 7 months since I stopped getting the shots. I had normal periods while on the shot, and before I was on the shot, but once I stopped getting it my periods vanished...
Avatar n tn My husband and I are TTC and I took the Depo shot twice and stopped 11/04 and then started BCP till 8/05 and havent had a period since except with provera. I think the Depo is still in my system and is screwing everything up. I hope the provera works for you and best of luck with the clomid.
Avatar f tn On average it can take up to 12-18 months for your body to regulate coming off of depo provera.. So do not begin to get too discouraged. It often takes quite some time to get pregnant after stopping that particular birth control.
Avatar f tn Hi, Depo shots can cause irregular bleeding. Hence your symptoms can be the side effects of depo shots. You can consult your Doctor for a pelvic examination when you go for the next shot. This is to rule out any other local conditions in the cervix and vagina that may be causing the bleeding. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
Avatar f tn I usually respond terribly to hormone treatments but I'm in such a terrible and desperate position right now that I just started taking the Depo provera shot. Last Tuesday to be exact. Still in excruciating pain and have searched the net high & low for days for the answer to this question. Has anyone here tried this treatment for endo pain and gotten relief? Was wondering how long it usually takes to start working for pain.
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar n tn I got off Depo provera about three years ago. Prior to that I had no menstrual problems. Now, right before and after my period, I have cramps, diarrhea, nausea, and really long cyles. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this.
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
