Avatar f tn Hi there, It is known that women who use Depo-Provera may lose significant bone mineral density. It is more common after using depo for increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible. It is advisable to avoid using it for more than 2 years .The exact cause of your pains in knee joint is due to depo or some other cause can be confirmed only after a thorough evaluation. You also need to consider other possibilities of joint pain like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout etc.

I had one depo shot back in Oct 2012 the first two weeks I had no period after that I had a continuous period from Nov 12 to Jan 13 the Docs gave me medication mini pill to temp stop the bleeding but as soon as i came off the medication the bleeding continued... I also for the first time started to pass very large blod clots which looked like liver the size of my hand.
Avatar n tn Now i am waiting for my gynecologist appointment to come through.I am so worried at the moment.I am sure it is because of Depo Provera AND NOT CANCER.I told her that i have read a lot of reviews of woman who had the sam on going bleeding for months, but she kind of ignored that. I just wonder how will they stop that bleeding? When it is going to stop?

Avatar f tn Hi, Ive been reading a lot of questions already posted on here but still a little unsure as I realise everyone's body is different. I was recommended by my Doctor to begin Depo Provera as I admitted I was terrible at taking the contraceptive pill.
Avatar n tn I'm currently having the depo-provera injection every 12 weeks, I've been on it for a year and a half. I've only ever had one injection a week or a few days later than usual cos it was cancelled when I was supposed to go. whenever me and my boyfriend haves sex he always pulls out first, I'm not experiencing any symptoms but is there any chance I could be pregnant if we ain't using another form of protection? I'm seeing different reviews of people having the depo shot.
Avatar m tn Well if you don't want to take something all the time there's the Depo Provera shot. It's a birth control shot you get in your arm every 3 months and it's over 99% effective. There's a lot of mixed reviews about it, but it's like all medications, everyone's body reacts differently. I've been on it for 7 years and no problems. Or there's the patch. You don't have to take anything, and nothings injected in you.
Avatar f tn Hello just alittle about myself, I am 26 year old female with 3 kids. This past August I recently had a miscarriage and D&C. I was 10 weeks along but I had a partial molar pregnancy. Right after my D&C I received the depo provera shot because my doc said I couldn't get pregnant for a year. Well in mid September all my symptoms started and just hit me out of nowhere one day. One night I just started having a panic attack out of no where.
1467678 tn?1370945132 Nuvaring ( I got continuous uti infections from having this inside me) Implanon- no sex drive at all ( relationship issues due to that) Depo provera injection worked for me was happy with this but I'm not sure its suitable to my above conditions. My fertility specialist advised that i could go on the morena, and I've heard nothing but bad news re this contraception and considering the nuvaring didn't want I'm not even wanting to consider this option. My thoughts are hysterectomy?
Avatar f tn I know that I have polycystic ovaries and have been on various medication. I came off Depo Provera injections about 2 years ago and was regular up until the day before my wedding (16/10/2009) as I was about to become sexually active for the first time also. The doctor prescribed a pill I'd been on when I was in my teens, although I made mention that these made me sick, at which she told me to hide it in my food! I tried them, but was severely sick, so I came off them.
Avatar f tn No pain, and nothing unsual, which was kind of surprising given I was on the Depo-Provera injection for many years with no period at all. My body has pretty much went back to normal. The only thing is that I had two periods for the month of January (Tubal was Dec. 9th) one period at the beginning of the month and one now. But no cramping or bad pain associated with it and not too heavy, just like before for me.
Avatar n tn i have a 10 yr old , after i had him i went on the depo shot for 3 months and had to stop it because it made me so sick but it also took usalmost 6 months to concieve our son, so no 10 years later no other children and not from lack of trying...
Avatar n tn There's a very similar thread on this site re Depo Provera injections and thyroid issues. I have similar concerns. I've had Depo and now on my second Implanon and am being treated for hypothyroidism. I am very much questioning whether there is a causal link.. My first instinct was that the Depo caused my thyroid issues.
Avatar n tn I have also heard of poeple not getting a positive blood test until 3 months pg...But I start Provera tomorrow to jump start my period since I am 2 weeks late then CD5-9 I will take my Clomid and we will go from there...well keep me posted and I will do the same for you!! Be Blesed!!
Avatar n tn I was on the depo provera shot for a little over 13 years with no periods. I have been off of the shot since October 2006. In January, my periods started back, however, I have bright red blood frequently, and almost always HUGE blood clots. Sometimes I can feel myself pushing them out. My period has been on since January, with the exception of maybe two to three weeks. I am afraid that I am or will be anemic or worse soon if the bleeding doesn't stop.
280700 tn?1210287416 I also took clomid 50mg last month and never ovulated, so the cycle was a bust and the doctor prescribed Provera again casue it could be some time before i get my period. He upped my dosage to 100mg and i'm on day 3 today of clomind. I'm basically taking clomid cd 2-6 as the specialist wanted and then he will start monitoring me on CD 9. I'm also getting IUI done so hopefully tis would help but if I don't ovulate then this cycle would be a bust also. I'm crossing my fingers as well.
Avatar n tn This compares with 10 for the normal IUCD, 20 for the Pill and 10-15 for the injection (Depo Provera). This is comparable to the effectiveness of sterilisation. Mirena acts as a contraceptive in two ways: it makes the mucus at the neck of the womb (the cervix) much thicker, preventing sperm from getting through and it also makes the lining of the womb extremely thin, stopping implantation. In some women it prevents egg release (ovulation). A.
298579 tn?1192250448 The only thing I have seen that helps the pain is an herbal wrap that you heat up(you can get them @ walmart), and I lay that on my stomach. I have been on the depo shot for four years, I have asked if this is a contributing factor and have been told no. I have no kids. I hope someone comes up with an explanation, because I am too young to be giving up on my sex life!
Avatar f tn I've switched to the pill now but just started but after I had my son i wanted to try Depo-provera I got the shot until my son was six months old and I think it may have had something to do with my mood I started feeling really sad all the time and started getting chest pains and bad headaches I went to the er twice with chest pains and they did a ct scan and ekg and said everything was fine both times and they did a scan on my head to check for tumors and they said everything was fine with that
Avatar n tn I too noticed this sticky crown issue about a week ago. I am 26 and do not have any more stress in my life than usual. I am on the Depo-Provera shot for birth control and read that Depo-Ralovera (a very similar shot) can cause greasy hair. (http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/greasy_hair/side-effects.htm) I wonder if I could have received the wrong shot when I was in about 2 weeks ago, the names are so similar.
Avatar n tn thinks either adenomyosis or endo, but she told me if yaz doesnt help the next step might be the depo provera shot I dont know much about it but that may be a possibility for you, or possibly even lupron depo she suggested, even though I think you get many side effects from it. It's like a fake menopause! Well good luck lemme know how things works out!
Avatar n tn Depo isn't the monster that people make it out to be. It's a good option for some people so don't be afraid to look into it). The doctor I went to prefers to do the insertion on a patient who is on her period. But since I have been on Depo Provera I haven't had a period in about 22 months! Because I had previously had a vaginal delivery (my daughter is 16 years old now) the doc decided to give insertion a try without my period (this was last month). OMFG... OUCH! And I mean: OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn First, I'm not glad to hear anyone is having these issues. I was terrorized (best word) by out of the blue tachycardia for nearly a year. My heart would just shoot up to 200 beats a minute. These attack hit while I was driving home from work, when I was watching TV, when I was shopping, when I was lying in bed, when I was exercising. I had flushing. I can't count the # of times I was pulled from my car by an ambulance & rushed to the ER...
Avatar n tn Usually I don't start until I get a prescription of Provera for the doc. Last time I went 2 and 1/2 months before I started again by provera. so being late is a usual thing for me...I'm so confused, but I don't want to get my hopes up like I do every other month...I guess I should just get an appt. with the doc to be sure...I'll keep you updated!
