i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.

I am 33 years old and have 2 kids. My second kid is 11 months old. I took a shot of Depo Provera on January 10th when my baby was 2 1/2 months old. I had spotting on and off for 3 months and hence didnt continue with Depo. However since last month, bleeding commences everytime i do exercise or after intercourse and goes on for 4 days like periods. I had a USS done and was found to have PCOD (which i have been having for 10 years now). Doctor advises it is hormonal changes that has caused this.

I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?

I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it.
The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
