Hello, I have been given my FIRST depo-provera shot earlier this month, and it was not within my cycle - it was the 11th day afterwards. I had unprotected sex the following day, and am very worried I may be pregnant. Since I did not wait the seven days. I am extremely nauseous, getting bad headaches every two-three days, tender breasts, mood swings and today, I had a strong and sharp cramping feeling that lasted for less than thirty seconds, repeated and then stopped.

Hey, im 16 and ive been on the depovera shot for about 6 months now since feburary. Im having some concerns about this shot.. is anyone else having mood swings, low sex drive, bloating, head aches on and off constantly, lowwer abdominal pains ( like small cramping. ) and bleeding..

I lost my virginity on March 12th which was unprotected sex with only precum plus I’m pretty sure it did not enter inside me. 4 days later I received my First Depo Provera shot. Hi, I am 17, I am on Depo Provera and am having side effects such as constant bleeding (1 month and half) and the common mood changes. I was told that if I take estrogen I can minimize the bleeding or even stop it...However I was informed by a nurse that due to breast cancer running in my family if I starting to take an estrogen pill so early it can potentially make my risk of breast cancer even higher for the future.

depo-provera is poison to the body and i know a lot of women on this site will agree with me. I don't think your pregnant though there could be a possibility only a test will tell you if you are or not.

I'm 16, I have only took took shots of depo provera but didn't go on my 3rd shot which was April 29, 2014 because I have had continuous bleeding ever since I first started the depo which was November 2013. It's been over 6month's of non-stop bleeding and it still has not stopped even through I am no longer on the Shots. What you listed describes what I feel exactly. I used to be an incredibly happy, bubbly person, and these mood swings are killing me! I really like the convenience of not having to worry about taking a pill, it's not that I mind pills at all, but my schedule as a college student varies so much it's hard to find a time to take it consistently. If I had a steady schedule where I could take a pill every day at the same time, I would much rather do that than have an injection.

I know my friends have experienced bloating, weight gain, mood swings, etc from the depo shot.

What is a good birth control method for someone with bipolar disorder with psychotic features? My wife recently stopped taking Depo Provera, which I believe may have contributed to yet another psychotic episode->hospitalization. We don't want any kind of permanent solution (e.g. tubal ligation), but we need a reliable method and one that won't destabilize her once we decide to have a baby.

I would never reconmend this as a birth control for anybody. Depo has some pretty bad side effects, to mood swings and heavy bleeding. Some women stop a period altogther while on depo and once they stop depo, periods sometimes do not return as normal.

depression and mood swings so bad it almost ended my relationship. Depo Provera is used as a chemical sterilizer for sex offenders. Probably the single most effective birth control barring a hysterectomy! It does not have that effect in all women but I would be extremely careful with it. I love the NuvaRing but if you are going to breastfeed you won't be able to use it because of the progesterone. If you can not be consist with pills I would look into an intrauterine device (IUD).

I had all the typical symptoms of menopause even though mine was surgical menopause. My ongoing problem is severe mood swings. t planning on using any birth control after I had Lily, we were just gonna go with natural family planning. Well at my doc appt today he suggested the depo provera shot may help with milk production since I'm having an issue with it due to anemia. I went ahead and got the shot becuase I figured it was worth trying to see if it WILL help AND with the anemia problems right now it's probably best that I elminate as much risk of pregnancy as possible for awhile.

Depo Provera is effective birth control for 3 months. I'm not sure how long it takes to completely leave your system. You may want to contact your doctor, tell him/her of your complaints and decide on another birth control option when it's time you can make the switch. Best wishes!

I know that I have polycystic ovaries, but have been regualr since coming off depo provera injections about 2 years ago; ie. this is my first missed period. All was well for the first month, then the excruciating migraines, cramps, mood swings and severe weight gain came on (40lbs in one month!!!) and my hair began to fall out.
