depo-provera

432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn I have read that being on birth control could cause people to have flares and is kind of bad for people with lupus. I have never been on birth control and was wondering what is the best way to go when i do have to be on birth control. I don't want to live like a nun all my life just because i have lupus and can't be on birth control. Also with all of the different meds that i take i wouldn't want to become pregnant if i was sexually active.
Avatar n tn I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I'm hoping they take my complaints seriously. 9 months ago, I took the Depo Provera shot for birth control. About 6 weeks later, all my symptoms started. I barely even noticed them at first, but here's what's happened: 15 lb.
1229507 tn?1294026330 Most doctors would never consider tying tubes in a 16 year old unless she was severely disabled and they had a court order to do so. Depo Provera is one of the most effective methods for this age group. IUDs are sometimes used with good results too, the problem is that until the young ladies "settle down" they are at risk for STIs which are problematic when an IUD is in place. There is also a contraceptive called Implanon which is inserted under the skin and lasts up to 3 years.
Avatar n tn I also take darvocet for occasional migraines, but I try to avoid taking it too often. In additon, I take a Depo-Provera injection every three months for birth control. I don't know if any of those meds could be affecting my health in some way, so I figured I should mention it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Avatar n tn I'VE HAD SEVERAL BLOOD TEST (BLEEDING, PLATLETS,LUPUS,) THE FINAL TEST WAS A SKIN BIOSPY AND THAT CAME BACK AS BASAL HYPERPIGMENTATION,BUT THE QUESTION IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE HYPERPIGMENTATION ALSO MAYBE A LATE STAGE OF PHYTOPHOTODERMATITIS, I'VE SEEN PICTURES OF THAT AND IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT.I WAS ON DEPO PROVERA FOR A WHILE AND GOT OFF TO SEE IF IT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND IT HAS NOT. ARE THERE ANY OTHER TEST THAT I CAN TAKE? THE DOCTOR IS OPEN FOR IDEAS TOO BE-CAUSE HE WANTS TO KNOW.
Avatar f tn So, I was given the Depo Provera shot. I was told again that my symptoms should lessen in a few weeks. I went back in around Thanksgiving because I was still having pain and now I was getting strong abdominal cramping as well. I was sent to my regular physician to get an MRI and rule out other things. Everything came back negative. Then I wound up in the ER over Christmas break because my abdominal cramping was so strong I was doubling over in pain.
Avatar f tn Besides my muscle and joint pain I have had periods of alcopecia (losing quarter to half-dollar sized patches of hair on my head), full-body rashes during especially hot times, asthma, and suspected endometrosis (currently controlled by depo-provera). I also used to never get sunburnt but my face especially gets really red now if I am in the sun for more than a little while. I have darker skin so its sometimes hard to see but lately my cheeks and nose seem constantly flushed.
Avatar n tn You could also consider switching to a different birth control, again or have and IUD placed. I used the depo-provera injection and had no side affects except for some weight gain. It even got rid of ALL my menstral cramps, which use to keep me in bed even with pain pills, breast soreness and lower back pain, all which were normal for me during the first few days of my period. The depo-, if stayed on for years, will most likely stop you from having a period at all.
Avatar f tn I have been fatigued and nauseated for about a month. Im on Depo Provera, and knew I wasnt pregnant, but feel like it. My doctor sent me for a blood test, and everything is borderline low. (my WBC is 5.2, RBC is 4.08, CO2 is 20). I can give any other info that may be key. six days ago I began seeing blood in my stool. It looks like red flakes in the B.M. I also have free blood as well. The nausea and fatigue hasnt let up, the blood in the stool has, but Im still going for a cat scan on monday.
Avatar f tn I'm actually not sure that I'm ovulating at all. Before we started ttc, I went on the depo-provera injection for one year. It stopped my periods (which were regular before that), and I've never gotten them back. I have had a period with provera, and I have had a couple on my own (but they're short - about 3 days). I chart my bbt and it is all over the place. I've been pregnant once, so I have obviously ovulated at least once.
Avatar n tn I've had 2 learn how to regulate my vaginas behavior. Condems realy leave a bad smell on my vagina after intercourse. During sex I hav no smell at all I mean water. Then later I will sweat a metalic oder. Bv was very hard to control but I found this homopathic treatment sort of like vitamins to keep ur vagina clean and ph balanced.
Avatar f tn I've been tested a billion times due to crazy autoimmune responses to things i.e. ..tetanus booster, depo provera, and an IUD and mold. One reaction was so horrible they thought I had Lupus and Fibromyalgia. It took 2 years to resolve. That is why I am petrified of the Hep C treatment, I will most likely get my butt kicked.
8256587 tn?1399901106 Endo wants me to undergo a gastroscopy and to think about taking Depo-Provera contraceptive injections. Symptoms are to me not from anemia as they consist of heavy periods, orthostatic hypotension (blood rushes when standing from sitting) and cramping in legs when walking. Symptoms that have now gone: constipation, depression, fatigue, cold intolerance. I have now eliminated gluten and dairy in its entirety. I had an abnormal urine sample which showed leukocytes (white blood) and protein.
Avatar n tn I have never had headaches but on the 8th of Dec I had a horrible migraine and they have not stopped since then. I was on Depo Provera and switched to Lo/overal pills could this be a reason for the headaches? I stopped taking the pill last Friday after visiting the ER with horrible pains in my head. All the tests at the ER can back ok but the headaches still come everyday. I was taking up to five meds a day to curb the pain until 2 days ago.
Avatar n tn Hormonal treatment – Oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), also called birth control pills, as well as other hormonal treatments (patch, vaginal hormonal ring, Depo-provera, IUD and hormonal implants) are often prescribed because the hormones thin out the lining of the uterus which lessens the blood flow and cramping.
Avatar n tn But the first episode was before the throat infection so I'm not so sure. I also started the Depo Provera shots after the first episode so I don't think it could be from this, but the first episode really wasn't like it is now so maybe there is a connection. What type of contraceptive is everyone on? And what are your periods like?
Avatar n tn there is NO WAY that I am pregnant and he wants me to take Provera to bring on a period and then start injectibles in the next cycle. I am not sure I am OK with this, any thoughts? Not counting on it, but hoping!!!
Avatar n tn Well...I was just looking up my symptoms on the web and tada...found this page. I seem to have very similiar symptoms. I get chills/shakes at night and various times through out the day. My heart will beat really hard, especially at night. but various times during the day as well. I am sick to my stomach often. It's worse at night, but right now as I type this during the day I feel very sick and nausiated. I was diagnosed with IBS...but never had symptoms like these before.
Avatar n tn Ms Smile- Have you ever been diagnosed with Lupus? After 3 miscarriages, I'd be concerned that something is up. I am 38 also (soon to be 39) and trying to get pregnant again. I have a 2-year old daughter. If you really want another baby, it would be worth looking into why you had so many miscarriages. Just my thoughts...
1294995 tn?1330666336 I'm 4 days past provera and nothing yet. I'm getting alittle worried because I've been on provera like 6 times and almost always like clock work I get it two days after stopping it. I'll wait until it's been 7 days past then I'll call my dr. Didn't realize I could wish so much for AF :-) Well I have enjoyed this day off. Back to work tomorrow. Hope you all had a great weekend :-) SSBD!!!!
Avatar n tn They wanted to start me on provera but I wanted to do a little research first. I was having many pregancy symtoms along with the late period such as feeling tired all the time, nasea, and my husband and family even said that I had the pregnancy glow. Then I got the call today, very frustrating. Then I started felling like I might start. This evening, I had very light spotting - would have missed it if I was not looking, but nothing ever since.
