depo-provera

Avatar f tn I have had the exact treatment for endo and i am 28 yrs old. I had the surgery 13 months ago followed by depo shots for 6 months. I am booked in for the 12th of May for another surgery to go in and see how its worked as i hadnt fallen pregnant on Clomid in the last 4 months. I only experienced hot flushes while on the depo shots and felt ok. After i finnished the shots i became regular in ovulating where prior i would only ovulate every other month. Good luck and let me know how yours goes.
Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn I am 19 and was diagnosed with endometriosis September of last year I have been on Depo Provera since I was 14 because of heavy periods I read a posting on another forum about a woman that had a 19 year old that had been on Depo since she was 15 and now she has been told that her breasts are not growing because of the Depo shots is that possible please help me I am scared that this is happening to me please let me know anything.

Avatar f tn Dr, I am 27 years old and I was operated for Endometriosis 6 years ago. However, just last year, the disease came back again and now, it keeps on worsening every time I have my menstrual cycle. The pain is just so severe that it will only be relieved after a dose of NSAIDs. My question now is that my OB-GYNE is suggesting that I undergo a GnRH treatment for 3 months since I do not want surgery anymore.
Avatar f tn So I started the depo and I had a period for 2 months one HUGE migraine for 3 days and the everything stopped, Well I have given birth to 2 kids and I wasn't on the depo after the first so this is new to me. Is it normal to be bleeding after 4 months? It's not a heavy flow its flow medium for a couple days then it's spotting every now and then.
Avatar f tn He told me that he was going to try the Depo Provera shot, because that would be a more effective pain reducer and would help the endo from not coming back. I took the shot in the middle of December 2013, and started bleeding the beginning of January. I was not due to take the next shot until March, but I was still bleeding in February consistently. I called the doctor again and said that I was still bleeding, and they told me that I could either come and take the 2nd shot early or wait it out.
Avatar n tn To re-hash, I was put on Depo-Provera for endometriosis. I'm at the end of the second month of its three month effective range, and everything's been fine so far. (I had surgery on 5/17, light bleeding until about the beginning of the second week of June, then nothing since *yay*). For the past 3-4 days, I've been getting that 'pre-period' feeling (slightly *ugh*, little crampy on the side where the cyst was, and mucousy discharge.
Avatar n tn Hopefully my body adjusts alright and this helps with keeping the endo at bay. Has anyone used the Depo for endometriosis? What kind of experiences did you have? I'm kinda curious, but also thinking that maybe I jumped into the waters before seeing if there were sharks. :) (To reiterate, I was given three choices: oral BC, Depo, or Lupron. Opted against the Lupron for the vast scary side effects. Looked into the Depo, didn't really see anything scary.
Avatar f tn She told may be due to harmonal imbalance i had this spotting . Doctor prescribed provera for 21 days and told once you stop u will have a lighter period. Wallgreens doc gave me 2 pills instead of 21 (confused with my doc writing). i took 2 , spotting stopped and later after 3 days i started bleeding heavily with clots. called my doctor and she corrected it saying it was 21 days not 2 days. So started provera again from oct 10 . Today its oct 23 and i am still bleeding .
Avatar n tn I went in for my Depo-Provera shot, and a few minutes after I got home the doctor called and said "Sorry, we gave you Depo-Lupron instead of the shot you were supposed to get." I am freaking out! What are the possible side effects of this, am I still safe to have unprotected sex with my husband, will this have any permenant effects on my overies or on my body at all? Do I need to contact a lawyer? Any info you have will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I was on depo for 3 yrs for same reason. Chronic ovarian cysts. The depo however made my cysts WORSE. I stopped and was able to conceive my 2nd child after 6 months of stopping which im grateful for. I did however carry my 2nd child with a huge ovarian chocolate cyst the size of a cantoloupe caused from depo. After having my son, i was diagnosed with severe endometriosis stage 5. I had severe fatigue like u also and complete loss of sex drive. I now control my cysts with natural remedies.
Avatar n tn Second was the Depo-Provera shot, and third was the Lupron Depot shot. She's wanting to lean to the Lupron. I'm so confused. This endo thing sucks, and knowing that I'm going to have to deal with it for the rest of my life sucks more. Plus, while I never was gung-ho to have children, now the option has pretty much been taken away. I didn't even know I had endo..... The endometrial cyst rupturing and spilling endo everywhere is what made me go to a gyn in the first place.
Avatar n tn After being on depo provera for 1 year, I decided to discontinue use and switch to the pill. I decided to be single (and not sexually active) for a while, so I decided to wait until I got my period to start taking the pill. The only problem is that I STILL haven't had a period! It's been 6 or 7 months since I stopped getting the shots. I had normal periods while on the shot, and before I was on the shot, but once I stopped getting it my periods vanished...
1876139 tn?1320458118 In the mean time im going to make a doctors appointment and try and get myself checked out for Endometriosis.....but after reading everybody's posts, it looks like im in for a loooong wait!
136956 tn?1425609872 They offered me Lupron, but after seeing all the BAD side effects the drug can have, I opted for the Depo-Provera shot. Would rather have the body simulate pregnancy than menopause. If you're on the pill then you shouldn't be ovulating. You can still have a period, though, even if you're not taking the placebos. My gyn told me that periods usually stop after at least three months of one particular kind, and if they don't, then it's time to try something else.
Avatar n tn That's not true according to the books I've read and people I know personally who have endometriosis. One of my closest friends has had to go back for laparoscopy and laparotomy surgeries several times. I would say at least 4 or 5 surgeries over the course of 8-10 years. Once, she had a mass the size of a grapefruit that had to be removed, and that was after she'd had other growths removed and the surgeon had "cleaned all the lesions out." Please find a different doctor.
Avatar n tn I was on depo provera for years without incident. It worked very well for me to control my endometriosis. It is risky to get that injection since it lasts in your body for 3 months should someone have issues such as your daughters. I am sorry she had to go thru this but glad to hear she is recovering and finally home.
Avatar f tn I've had endometriosis for about 14 years now... I'm 23 now. I tried Depo Provera at the age of 16. I had a smaller dose once a month. I wasn't advised of the weight gain that I would be getting lol I went from a size 5 to a size 10 within 6 months. I don't know how old you are but at 16, still in high school, I wasn't too happy. I decided to quit the treatment after a year. After that, I tried all other treatments...
Avatar n tn So I had a laparoscopy back in April for endometriosis. All was well for a few months, but the pain returned about 3 months ago. I was put on the pill, and that did nothing. I was then prescribed Danazol, but it made me sick and I couldn't take it. I was then given a shot of Depo-provera about a month ago, and the pain was better at first, but now it has returned and is getting worse.
Avatar f tn Started Depo-Provera right after. stopped depo in Oct.2011, Depo was great for the first 2 years and then i was having pain and fullness in my abdomen, i decided to come off of depo provera after a visit with an endo specialist who suggested i try to go natural. in Dec2011 the pain began.....
Avatar f tn I started receiving the Depo-Provera shot 6 weeks after I gave birth to my son in 2000. I was on the shot for 9 months and gained 118 lbs. My eating habits and excersise habits never changed and I continued to put on the weight. My doctor need numerous tests to see if there was an underlining problem he wasn't aware of, but there wasn't. 6 years later I have lost 81 lbs. - it hasn't been easy.
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar f tn Hi, Further to my previous post -fyi-endometric chocolate cyst removed in Nov 2008, given depo provera one a month for 3 months (dec08, jan09, feb09). It took a while for my periods to return, I got it June09 and July09 but not after that. So my dr in order induce periods put me on Meprate (medoxyprogesterone) from 9thSep to 16th Sep (7 days) ,two pills a day.
Avatar n tn She is talking about either Danazol or Depo-Provera. I have heard scary stories about both. I would like to go off of all hormones, but am afraid that will do me no good either. Suggestions please?
Avatar f tn The weird thing is I haven't gotten a period in about 5-6 years because I've been on the depo provera shot. I also have never had spotting or even cramps once during this time. This began about 4 months ago with just the bleeding and normal cramps (cramps would be 10x worse after sex), but even getting cramps is a little weird for me since I have not had them in years. About 2 weeks ago my symptoms started to progress very quickly, getting noticeably worse by the day.
Avatar f tn I was hoping to seek advice/answers regarding long-term treatment methods for endometriosis. I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19, I am now 32. Since my diagnosis, I have undergone 2 laparoscopic procedures, one at 19 and one at 24. I was also prescribed the Depo-Provera shot, which I was on for a little over 10 years.
Avatar f tn One thing, my dr put me on Depo Provera injections after the surgery ( one shot a month for three months)- PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!!!! All the problems I have now like liver issues, skin issues, irregular periods, anovulation are ALL because of those shots. Believe there are other meds to stop endo cysts from re-occuring, not sure of the names but you be sure not to take this one!!! Even if dr talks of just one shot DO NOT go for it...
1467678 tn?1370945132 Nuvaring ( I got continuous uti infections from having this inside me) Implanon- no sex drive at all ( relationship issues due to that) Depo provera injection worked for me was happy with this but I'm not sure its suitable to my above conditions. My fertility specialist advised that i could go on the morena, and I've heard nothing but bad news re this contraception and considering the nuvaring didn't want I'm not even wanting to consider this option. My thoughts are hysterectomy?
